The movie made money (not the insane amounts of the Connery films which were fresh and novel years earlier) and if Lazenby had stayed on, a cult would've grown around him almost as strong as that of the Connery cult. Roger Moore reinvigorated the series with comedy. Dalton had his strengths - but romance wasn't one of them. Brosnan's enthusiasm for the role helped reboot the series. Daniel Craig appeals to the everyman because he looks like the average Joe (or James)
Not true. This is one of the best bond movies ever made and Lazenby did a great job. He only didn't continue as Bond due to some bad advice he received. After Moore quit being Bond the series was never the same after that. Bond became cold and his character uninteresting. HOw old are you anyway to think you understand the 007 movies as you are way off????
Anyone who hates George Lazenby as Bond is nuts. He was supposed to be emotional because the book was written that way and learn ur shit. He was the second best bond under connery.
Great song-fab film-One of the greatest Bond songs in the series-great song for getting married or for a funeral. The music of Barry made the early Bond films legendary. Thanks for posting! Anyone who doesnt like this can f*** off!
I think that Lazenby is the only bond who could have pulled off On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Well, maybe Connery but Lazenby is just fantastic in this one, I only wish he'd done a few more and perhaps we'd have been able to skip the dreadful Roger Moore!
GREAT SONG SAD ENDING SHAME THE FILM WAS A FLOP THEN A AGAIN IF THE FILM DID NOT FLOP WE WOULD OF NOT SEEN ROGER MOORE SO MAYBE THINK HAPPEN FOR A REASON
Whenever I hear this song it moves me to tears thinking of Louis Armstrong singing this at the verge of death with cancer. He was so ill and weak he couldn't even raise his trumpet. Yet, he sang it beautifully and magically, probably knowing that it was the last thing he would ever do professionally. RIP Louis Armstrong and RIP John Barry. You've both gone on to richly deserved rewards in the next world where I'm sure you're both still composing the most beautiful music for the angels.
A music video inside a James Bond movie. Gusty decision by the film makers, and it paid off too! That's when the Bond films had class, and a cleverness to them.
Some of the best music from The Bond Stable was featured in this movie. Diana Rigg was a bitch to work with, so I've heard. A bit bitchy, but quite alluring all the same. Perhaps she had problems with this fellows Aussie sense of humor ?

Such a beautiful song. We are thinking of using this at my father-in-law funeral. He is now getting his last morphine shots. He suffered so much, his body can't take any more. We will miss him more than you can tell.... :-(

damn ....those sideburns of Tracey look like caterpillars!!!....but still one of the best james bond theme songs ever.............lazenby rules................!!!!!!
Brilliant music from a superb Bond film. This film had everything, fab locations, great action and gorgeous girls. This song could be played at a wedding very romantic-thanks for posting.
lazenby was the 70;s roger craig,,,,,,sad he only did one film....he would have been so much better than girlie-man roger moore its not even close......funny how things work out........
Yes Lazenby was my second favorite Bond. Sean Connery will always be the first bond to me. Having said that Dianna Rigg was my favorite "Bond Girl". Where the previous bond women were sort of conquests Teressa was his equal and willing to take the same risks as James. Thanks for the video.
Sorry but all this about craig, He's a terrible bond. Lazenby would have made a fantastic bond if only he hadn't asked for more money. Connery wins hands down with lazenby second.
At Last George Lazenby is getting the recognition he deserves he was a Great Bond! he was so much better than Roger Moores Bond as he had an Edge plus the Romantic Rugged Looks and Soul to have made James Bonds Later films so much better than they were! Saying that the Best Roger Moore Bond film was The Spy who Loved Me.
this movie was so awesome....could have been so much better were it not for the robot-telly-savalas-porno-robot-androids gay plot......so much potentail lost....
Lazenby was the modern day Daniel Craig....he rocked it......imagine him over pussy boy Roger Moore.......not even close........funny how things work out.....Lazenby could have kicked mole-boy Moores ass with hi pinky finger.......
daniel craig........george lazenby....best bonds ever......after Connery of course------------------who will always be the man....forever and into eternity!! lol!!
Over the years this film has become a favorite to a lot of people. When it came out we all missed Sean,George was new rough around the edges but Sean was rough in Dr No..I hated it when it came out but over time became my favorite,,,,

great song with great voice for the best James Bond movie : in this James have been married and lost his wife in trajedic moment !!! It's an emotional James Bond !!!
Best Bond film to date, with the most compassionate Bond to date. We need more guys like Lazenby playing the role, it would also help to get better writers.
One of the best songs from a James Bond flick but unfortunately one of the worst James Bond flicks ...Although it beats the hell out of anything post 1977....My opinion so piss off .
@DonPMitchell No way. I think Lazenby was partly cast because they were looking for a "perfect" son-in-law rather than the absolute womanizer (i.e. Connery) . Even though Lazenby had no experience and was dubbed most of the time, I can't even imagine Connery in the last scene, to give you an example ...
@deusirae76 Lazenby wasn't dubbed most of the time!! Where is that misinformation coming from. He was dubbed only for the short time he was impersonating, that other fella from the Coat of Arms. A miniscule part of the film.
As today's Saint Sean's 80th birthday, it would've been very interestin to have seen Connery cry over Diana Rigg rather than Lazenby@ the end of OHMSS!!!
I think the fact that this is Lazenby's only movie makes the relationship between him and Tracy even more special. If it were Connery, I don't know if I would have "believed" it per se
am i the only person to think that lazenby was a good bond?? he was supposed to do live and let die and diamonds are forever but his agent talked him out of it!!
@cheffrank100 yeah its a brilliant film, lazenby looked the part, tall, dark, he had the charm and he did the fight scenes well. i think if lazenby did 3 or 4 bond films you could put him up there with connery and roger moore
@cheffrank100 yeah definitely some of roger moores one liners had me laughing, he played bond much smoother than connery i think, it was more about the charm with roger moore!!
Peter Hunt himself said Lazenby would've been remembered as an excellent Bond if he had continued in the series. Ahhhhhh, the mistakes of youth. It ALMOST makes growing older and wiser worth it.
I wish I had a satisfactory answer for that. It kind of depends on my mood. Connery was darker and tougher. Moore was comedic and more refined. They both had their low points. NSN contained so much comedy they must've thought Moore was gonna star. Connery was not in shape for DAF. Unsurprisingly Moore was willing to take the Millions offered to him and play well past his prime. In a perfect world maybe each gets his own decade? SC=60's; RM=70's; TD=80's; PB=90's and ???=00s
@Bondianwolf you make a good point about them playing in their own decade. im a bit like you, depends on my mood. sean connery and roger moore are definitely my best 2!!
I reckon OHMSS was the best film of the franchise, and Im all for Lazenby. I would like to see a remake, with Daniel Craig, howeber one thing that made this film, was Telly Savalas as Blofeld. it would take a pretty amazing actor to match Savalas in this roll!
@brandongmitchell this was and still is the greatest Bond movie ever made. They should make more of these kind of Bond films..never mind the high tech crap back to the basic spy /romance movie
Lazenby did just fine in this movie. The film does not date at all like the others. God knows what went on the set and off it for him to become so disillusioned he just left. Connery could not have done this part like Lazenby did.
I think George Lazenby is the only bond who actually read the Ian Fleming books and he made it just like Ian wrote it, his problem was coming right after Sean whos carizma is impossible to beat
We are currently watching the series of Bond movies in NZ and while Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan are my favourite Bonds, I feel George Lazenby did not get the recognition he deserved at the time this movie was released. This is probably the most under-rated of all the Bond movies. It stands the test of time, which I believe is the yard stick of a good movie. I just love the theme by Louie 'Sachmo' Armstrong.
this movie is great for both men and women there is action like always theirs romance, theirs a sad ending first time you see bond show some kind of emotion, it has the usual comedic part to it if only Sean Connery was the bond in the movie it would be better but old George dose not do that bad of a job.
@7tigerlotus I dunno, Craig's Bond in Casino Royale was really romantic with Vesper. I kinda give CR the edge, filmwise, because Craig's attempt at romance seemed more believable than Lazenby's (IMO anyways) Now, if we were comparing the novels, I'd most definitely agree; OHMSS is by far the most romantic of the Ian Fleming novels. ^_^ And I love this song.
@evh5150hawaii Thats the irony too-He fell in love for perhaps the first time with Vesper.and seems to think he will never love like that again..Yet being a prequel We know he will meet Theresa, marry her..and lose her..like Vesper
I think OHMSS is very underrated. I love seeing Bond settle down. Diana Rigg is an amazing Bond girl, and this song is so beautiful :) Thanks for posting this!
Roger Moore was not bad neither, He was my favorite Bond after Lazenby. It's just that some of the scripts were bad and he should have left at the very least after Octopussy. He was only the only guy to play Bond after Connery who did not try to imitate Connery, which to me is very admirable.
I hate hearing everyone rag on Roger Moore, he was my second favorite Bond behind Lazenby. He was the only guy to play Bond that did not try to imitate Connery. Everyone else has tried to be like Connery and to me thats wrong, be yourself. Imitation is not the best form of flattery, it just means you have no ideas or confidence in yourself. Moore was great as bond and I'll take him anyday over Dalton, Craig, or Bronson.
lazenbywas awesome....in a very "poor" script....but the love story in this movie nailed it...it showed Bond had heart...feelings. so sad Lazenby didnt do more sequals cause roger moore was awful.......jus saying........
@rocketman6464 OHMSS is the best non-Connery Bond film. From what I had read, George Lazenby let his ego get the better of him and also took some bad advice from a friend who told him he would be typecast if he stayed on as 007.
I agree about the sympathetic image. Connery wasn't a human being, but rather a character.
I still enjoy Connery's interpretation the most, but this one is most faithful to the books as well. (which I have read) I also think the director, long time series Editor, Peter Hunt, had a huge influence on that. He was a friend of Ian Fleming's before he passed away, and I've always assumed Hunt wanted to be more true to the book.
@allankles I agree GL was treated badly by the producers and the critics, ,this is my favourite Bond film everything was right about it. It was reported that Diana Rigg could n´t stand G L and hated the romantic scenes , do n´t know if that was true certainly did n´t show in the film. Think fun was made of GL as he had become famous by advertising a chocolate bar on tv.
Great story, great action, great music = GREAT FILM.
@garciakurt - spot on. There's something about this film which is magical. Probably the vulnerability of James Bond, coupled with Louis Armstrong's famous song. Amazing.
@mrsavoy66 While I agree that Daniel Craig may be the best Bond in years, unfortunately, the writing has not measured up to the early Bond films. The two must meet.
Lazenby....would have been the Daniel Craig actor we Bond fans wanted had he stuck around.....Roger Moore to me...was the worst...but not his fault....the scripts/stories went Hollywood campy...madcap humor sludge...too bad..
No, lol. The actor who played James Bond before him was Sean Connery. He's referring to him this way, because no woman ever ran away from him like she did on the beach ! ^^
pour moi, un grand James BOND...et quelle musique avec Diana RIGG

am i the only person to think that lazenby was a good bond?? he was supposed to do live and let die and diamonds are forever but his agent talked him out of it!!
goldyn12345 1 year ago
@goldyn12345 no you are not !! he was the best one ...and add the story line it rocks all the way goldyn
cheffrank100 1 year ago
@cheffrank100 yeah its a brilliant film, lazenby looked the part, tall, dark, he had the charm and he did the fight scenes well. i think if lazenby did 3 or 4 bond films you could put him up there with connery and roger moore
goldyn12345 1 year ago
@goldyn12345 absolutely ...for sure i think connery was also good but roger mooer was more of softer spy with the one liners.
cheffrank100 1 year ago
@cheffrank100 yeah definitely some of roger moores one liners had me laughing, he played bond much smoother than connery i think, it was more about the charm with roger moore!!
goldyn12345 1 year ago
@goldyn12345
Peter Hunt himself said Lazenby would've been remembered as an excellent Bond if he had continued in the series. Ahhhhhh, the mistakes of youth. It ALMOST makes growing older and wiser worth it.
Bondianwolf 1 year ago
@Bondianwolf who is your favourite bond, sean connery or roger moore?
goldyn12345 1 year ago
@goldyn12345
Bondianwolf 1 year ago
@Bondianwolf you make a good point about them playing in their own decade. im a bit like you, depends on my mood. sean connery and roger moore are definitely my best 2!!
goldyn12345 1 year ago
@goldyn12345 No I think he was great, just wish he had made some more certainly the ones Roger Moore was in.

I reckon OHMSS was the best film of the franchise, and Im all for Lazenby. I would like to see a remake, with Daniel Craig, howeber one thing that made this film, was Telly Savalas as Blofeld. it would take a pretty amazing actor to match Savalas in this roll!
brandongmitchell 1 year ago
@brandongmitchell this was and still is the greatest Bond movie ever made. They should make more of these kind of Bond films..never mind the high tech crap back to the basic spy /romance movie
cheffrank100 1 year ago
@brandongmitchell the story line was very good, what did you think off lazenby as bond?
goldyn12345 1 year ago
Lazenby is just so underrated!!

The very last song Louis Armstrong ever recorded in his career and he did it all in just one take!

Lazenby did just fine in this movie. The film does not date at all like the others. God knows what went on the set and off it for him to become so disillusioned he just left. Connery could not have done this part like Lazenby did.
lynhoward1 1 year ago
I think George Lazenby is the only bond who actually read the Ian Fleming books and he made it just like Ian wrote it, his problem was coming right after Sean whos carizma is impossible to beat
moatazeft 1 year ago
We are currently watching the series of Bond movies in NZ and while Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan are my favourite Bonds, I feel George Lazenby did not get the recognition he deserved at the time this movie was released. This is probably the most under-rated of all the Bond movies. It stands the test of time, which I believe is the yard stick of a good movie. I just love the theme by Louie 'Sachmo' Armstrong.
Centrofold 1 year ago
this movie is great for both men and women there is action like always theirs romance, theirs a sad ending first time you see bond show some kind of emotion, it has the usual comedic part to it if only Sean Connery was the bond in the movie it would be better but old George dose not do that bad of a job.
STEVENSSPACE 1 year ago
Lazenby was no so Sean Connery, but this is the most romantic Bond of them all :)
7tigerlotus 1 year ago
@7tigerlotus I dunno, Craig's Bond in Casino Royale was really romantic with Vesper. I kinda give CR the edge, filmwise, because Craig's attempt at romance seemed more believable than Lazenby's (IMO anyways) Now, if we were comparing the novels, I'd most definitely agree; OHMSS is by far the most romantic of the Ian Fleming novels. ^_^ And I love this song.
evh5150hawaii 1 year ago
@evh5150hawaii ^_^ I'd definitely say that CR runs pretty close- LOVE that flick :) and Craig's a much better actor that Lazenby...

@7tigerlotus daniel craig was the worst thing to ever happen to james bond
angryman1007 8 months ago
@evh5150hawaii Thats the irony too-He fell in love for perhaps the first time with Vesper.and seems to think he will never love like that again..Yet being a prequel We know he will meet Theresa, marry her..and lose her..like Vesper

@fortheloveoftunes Should redo or remake it With Daniel Craig-if mgm/ua ever gets their act together

I think a remake would be fantastic but I would not particularly want to see Daniel Craig do it.

He was only the only guy to play Bond after Connery who did not try to imitate Connery, which to me is very admirable.
germanjaguar 1 year ago

@rocketman6464
Wtf are you talking about? Lazenby was TERRIBLE. That's why they never brought him back.
TorchTaylor21 1 year ago
@rocketman6464 OHMSS is the best non-Connery Bond film. From what I had read, George Lazenby let his ego get the better of him and also took some bad advice from a friend who told him he would be typecast if he stayed on as 007.
Tubernaut 1 year ago
@Tubernaut yeah, I know Lazenby regrets that decision. He did well considering how quickly the script died a slow death....
lumumbasankar 1 year ago
@lumumbasankar George made some very prudent business investments which paid off nicely for him.

Allankles:
I agree about the sympathetic image. Connery wasn't a human being, but rather a character.
I still enjoy Connery's interpretation the most, but this one is most faithful to the books as well. (which I have read) I also think the director, long time series Editor, Peter Hunt, had a huge influence on that. He was a friend of Ian Fleming's before he passed away, and I've always assumed Hunt wanted to be more true to the book.
Either way, a great individual performance.
PapaFly 1 year ago
Sean Connery is the best Bond ever; however, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is the best Bond movie made thus far.
garciakurt 1 year ago 55
i completely agree. Also, Lazenby achieved things in this film, that none of the other actors could have pulled off.
PapaFly 1 year ago 4
To me Lazenby was the best Bond. The only actor who gave Bond a sympathetic image, you could actually root for him all the way.
allankles 1 year ago 8
@allankles I agree GL was treated badly by the producers and the critics, ,this is my favourite Bond film everything was right about it. It was reported that Diana Rigg could n´t stand G L and hated the romantic scenes , do n´t know if that was true certainly did n´t show in the film. Think fun was made of GL as he had become famous by advertising a chocolate bar on tv.
Great story, great action, great music = GREAT FILM.

@garciakurt i disagree,George Lazenby in my opinion is far better, but sean connery is ok.10 times better than campy roger moore

@garciakurt - spot on. There's something about this film which is magical. Probably the vulnerability of James Bond, coupled with Louis Armstrong's famous song. Amazing.

@garciakurt I totaly agree
mrkhamaileon 1 year ago
@garciakurt Right on the 1st sentence and that it was the most romantic of all the Bond flics.
Which makes it too bad that we didn't get to see Connery grief over Diana Rigg rather than Lazenby @ the end of OHMSS!!!!

@garciakurt hey we liked Lazenby too!

@garciakurt but time waits for no man.must move on my friend, our latest bond can cut the mustard.

@mrsavoy66 While I agree that Daniel Craig may be the best Bond in years, unfortunately, the writing has not measured up to the early Bond films. The two must meet.
garciakurt 10 months ago
@garciakurt lets not forget the music with out that the total production is flat.
mrsavoy66 10 months ago
Lazenby....would have been the Daniel Craig actor we Bond fans wanted had he stuck around.....Roger Moore to me...was the worst...but not his fault....the scripts/stories went Hollywood campy...madcap humor sludge...too bad..
