I’d be very interested in hearing you explain your transition from a theist to an atheist. As I’ve been lead to believe, JWs aren’t creationists but are somewhat in line with modern physics although not modern biology. To hear your personal reasons for the switch would make for an interesting video I think.
People tend to go from one extreme to another because they believe that the exact opposite of what the used to believe is the logical choice. But is it really?

Even those who go to hell are allowed to have beer and strippers.
Interesting indeed... but I would ask if your FSM has ever staked a claim toward any of the facts you've just highlighted? Or... a history of several thousand years of human interaction? Or if he has left us with instructions that would have transcended time in order to take care of his human creations? Or at the very least, address the issues which plague us? After watching your exposition of portions of the JW's teachings that are outside the bible i was under the impression that you have studied the bible thoroughly and were defending it. I thought that you might have come to the conclusion of following Jesus based on how he is presented in the bible (not on any made up human traditions), can you tell me what lead you completely the other way to atheism? Just out of interest?
@viewerand2010 I was thinking the same thing, to me it seems extremely presumptuous to say God doesn't exist because of the faults or flaws found dealing with an "Organization". I've studied both science & theology & I was expecting a lot more from someone who studied the scriptures deeply & had strong beliefs only to stop. But that does not mean that I believe in the Bible, anymore than a saying that a creationist who quotes from Charles Darwin's Origin of Species must really be an evolutionist.

But my journey towards atheism had nothing to do with these factors. Rather, reading the Bible and learning about science had everything to do with it.

I work with a Jesus. - Josephus speaks of many a Jesus - even referring to one popular one thought to be THE Jesus. Maybe he did exist. ... But not the same one. Muhammad existed - and has much better evidence towards him actually living than Jesus - but I'll give the benefit of doubt.

Gullable would be accepting something with no really real proof. If there was no Bible, there would be no Christianity. The amount of proven related material to Jesus, Miracles, Prophecies... is all interpretive at best. If Jesus wanted people to believe him, he would have left behind some undeniably hard physical evidence.
@killspeed2 Secondly, if that's your answer about Jesus sacrifice - I'd probably do some more studying even in your own Bible. That's not even a good answer from one Christian to the next. Also, saying Jesus went through pain and suffering is an obvious outcome of death and his story of torture prior to death. That doesn't mean he didn't know where he was going. If anyone that ever died knew he was going to heaven (because he'd been there) when he/she died - any torture is worth that.

After watching your exposition of portions of the JW's teachings that are outside the bible i was under the impression that you have studied the bible thoroughly and were defending it. I thought that you might have come to the conclusion of following Jesus based on how he is presented in the bible (not on any made up human traditions), can you tell me what lead you completely the other way to atheism? But my journey towards atheism had nothing to do with these factors. Rather, reading the Bible and learning about science had everything to do with it.

@viewerand2010 None of my other videos specifically explain what my beliefs are, as there purpose is to point out holes in JW teachings which are not found explicitly in the Bible contrary to the WTS claims. If you assumed that I still believed in the Bible, that was your assumption. The whole purpose of this video is to dispel that misconception.
Reading the Bible led me to atheism. If you go to freeminds dotorg you can see further reasons based on science

@killspeed2 ... It's less ignorant to say someone with no physical proof existed than it is to say someone with NO physical proof existed. Say what you want about Jesus bones - but the fact is those bones don't belong to anyone until proven otherwise. It takes more than a biased Christian opinion to say he actually existed. If he really existed, if those are really his bones, you'll hear about it all over the damn place. There are more Christians than Atheists - no one is shutting them up.

@killspeed2 Finally, I have made no claim that Jesus didn't exist. I claim that Jesus as the Bible portrays him (complete with miracles) didn't exist. I work with a Jesus. - Josephus speaks of many a Jesus - even referring to one popular one thought to be THE Jesus. Maybe he did exist. ... But not the same one. Muhammad existed - and has much better evidence towards him actually living than Jesus - but I'll give the benefit of doubt.

@killspeed2 .... OK. OK. OK. I base my knowledge on things that can be physically proven (while not an Atheist personally) that's what Atheism is all about. Gullable would be accepting something with no really real proof. If there was no Bible, there would be no Christianity. The amount of proven related material to Jesus, Miracles, Prophecies... is all interpretive at best. If Jesus wanted people to believe him, he would have left behind some undeniably hard physical evidence.

@killspeed2 Secondly, if that's your answer about Jesus sacrifice - I'd probably do some more studying even in your own Bible. That's not even a good answer from one Christian to the next. Also, saying Jesus went through pain and suffering is an obvious outcome of death and his story of torture prior to death. That doesn't mean he didn't know where he was going. If anyone that ever died knew he was going to heaven (because he'd been there) when he/she died - any torture is worth that.

I have been recently studying some history book on the historical jesus, books by j Dominic crossan and I realize Jesus is misunderstood completely, his resurrection was just the way the apostle cope with his lost. The sad thing about leaving jw's is that it makes some of them very mad at God as if He is to blame. The ones that are to blame are the ones that were in that cult in the first place. Ok I understand that some of ya were born into this religion but it does not excuse you for not doing your own research on the uneasieness you felt deep in your being. @nachis3 The other problem with exiting JWs is that they become enraged at Santa Claus for not bringing them gifts for all the years that they were JWs. Due to this rage, Santa never brings them gifts at Xmas (unless they repent of this rage and do research and convince themselves of Santa's existence).

I have done research on its origins, including the development of the OT canon (i.e. the documentary hypothesis) and the NT canon (compare Marcion's early canon with later canons). The real question is whether you have done such research. And never assume that people who don't believe what you do, do so out of ignorance.
