This is normal. My Modbook does this every reboot almost, but he's doing it wrong. This is how you do it correctly: 1. With your left hand hold down the button next to the power button, now unlike this guy DON'T TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF THE BUTTON, keep holding it. 2. With your right hand tap the pen onto the screen until it wakes up and you get the arrow to move with it. 3. Now that the pen works you can take your finger off the button. ^_^ cheers.
@MurasakiTenshi999 No it's not normal. As I responded to another comment, Axiotron, after seeing this video took the machine back in and changed out the Wacom board. It was defective. The machine worked fine afterwards until this last month when the hard-drive died.
one good idea is to give it to me lol jk uhh that's kinda janky maybe its the blue tooth try to buy one for it for the out side or maybe keep the pin near the button for it and see if it will connect just saying.
I don't want to say anything particularly bad about Axiotron. Their tech support is being more then helpful with the problem, it's just that they aren't see what I'm seeing when it gets back in the shop.

So what was the fix? Was it just a corrupt system preference and you had to re-install something. Looks like a software issue to me.

@tobybridson Apparently there was something wrong with the wacom parts and they had to replace them.
