@kentuckyfriedplus So true. I think now that maybe I wasn't so unlucky to have not had my MTV until after I'd gotten hooked on a number of great songs (with weak videos.) :-)
I recall they use to use the scream of the week then to schreek of the week...then one night, as i was driving home from a club in the city, it was just sound of the ocean wave for hours and hours....
Later that morning to my shock....all i hear on that station was nothing but "nachos grandes e guacamole burritos.." depressing!

i thought the luxury gap was one of the best albums of the eighties it's stood the test of time and still sounds as good today as it did the first time i heard it in 1983.
Fast-forward to 0:21, and the street's the exact same one near the beginning of the Specials' "Ghost Town" - perhaps it was outside EMI's offices or something.

I grew up listening to Heaven 17... You'll never find awsome music like this any more..That's a time when music and fashion was at it's peak.. After the 80's It all went down hill..

Wow. 25 odd years after having this record on 12" I FINALLY get to see the video heh heh. What a great record, it sounds years ahead of it's time.
I used to call H17 'The Masters of The Synth'. But the chances of seeing them live in those days - virtually nil. Glenn Gregory has said recently that was a mistake, and you were right mate. I'd have given a lot to see you perform this live - superb.

I was a junior in high school when this came out. I thought it was one of the coolest songs I'd ever heard.. Hearing it now I'm even more struck by the talent these guys had. Nearly 30 years later it's even cooler. I'm emotional hearing it again. Wonderful stuff.

Absolutely loved this song when it was on heavy rotation on MTV in the early days of the channel. However, the song became even bigger for me when I was 16 years old and I would go to an underground freestyle club in the east tremont section of the bronx called the Devils Nest, A then unknown DJ, Lil Louie Vega, would drop this towards the end of the evening and everyone in the club would sing along. Powerful memory.
