Okay, I've seen the entire clip of this. A little kid in a GL shit *(can't be more than 6 or 7) asks "How does it feel to say the Green Lantern oath?" The crowd goes somewhat wild. The he puts on the charm and does his recitation. You get to see the kid and there's this awestruck look there. Right before the clip ends. they both show their GL rings. I think he also offers the little one an autograpshed something. THAT'S class!

The person being portrayed, Hal Jordon, was white in the comics. Google suggests you are thinking of John Stewart (no relation to Jon Stewart of the Daily Show). So, John Stewart and Hal Jordon are both Green Lanterns.

@thebarcelonafan1 There are actually 5 green lanterns, Alan scott was the first one from way back when comic books were first being made, then Hal Jordan, (which is the one Ryan Reynolds is portraying in the upcoming film) Guy Gardner, the one you're thinking of John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner. Hal Jordan was the GL that revived the GL series when it started to die out so my guess is that's why they make him the star character in the movie.
