Im a Bulls fan but I think Portland has the best crowd in the NBA. The fans are always into the game even down by 20 they keep on cheering. I'm also sad that Roy choose to retire, he was so great when healthy
The two best 4th quarters in last year's playoffs both were unexpected. Zach Randolph's 17 point last quarter game 6 vs the Spurs and Roy's 18 point last quarter vs the Mavs.
@lightningv even if roy comes back he cant play for the blazers tell 2015 so he would need to sign with another team... so it doesnt help the blazers at all :(
I am not a Blazers fan but everytime I watch this video I feel like crying. This guy showed soo much heart and NBA will miss him. Best of luck in life Brandon Roy!
What would have happened if the trailblazers had actually won this series. Would the lakers have been beat? Would it have been a different playoff series altogether. 8=D
Not even a Brandon Roy fan, but this is probably the greatest individual quarter of playoff basketball I've ever watched. I'll never forget seeing this live getting goosebumps watching it happen... sad to see such a great player forced to call it quits so early
Man remember watching this game like it was yesterday Roy gonna be missed Portland is beastin it up just imagine adding RIP CITIES Boy Brandon Roy back
man brandon roy put the team on his back! people forget that he was a top 5 player in the nba and he outdueled kobe quite a few times when he was healthy. he gave everything for the blazers and im gonna miss him.
Maaaan the NBA should automatically give Portland the first round first pick in the 2012 draft at least, Brandon Roy is irreplaceable for Portland, so sad to see him go :(
What makes me cringes the most is what Brandon Roy left, a resurgence he led to make the Trailblazer's an actual contender in the West. Brandon Roy was the Michael Jordan, the Shaquille O'neal, the Tim Duncan of Portland. It's a shame that he had to leave so soon, where he had so much in his direction.
That kind of talent shouldn't be cut short - and too short it certainly is. A masterful roster, looking like a title contending team that needed a little time to mature, is now dissolving, so sad, so heartbreaking.
Swang Song anyone? this was a masterpiece and even as a Die hard Mavs fan, I rewatch this from time 2 time to see how great this guy was on the court. Truly sad that he has retired.
man, i was so amazed but upset while watching this (im a mavs fan), brandon roy is an amazing player and i have to that him because him doing this to dalla sshowed my mavs that its possible, and so came back so many times later in the playoffs, i dont think mavs wouldve won the nba if it wasnt for this night
I was at this game and I remember getting louder and louder. I will never forget this game, never. I will always love you Roy. You brought basketball hope back to Portland. Only true Rip City fans know the pain I do right now.
I remember what I was doing during this game distinctly. I was at a HS golf tournament, and had no knowledge of what happened. I got to the clubhouse and it was the middle or the 4th and Brandon was starting to go up. What an amazing memory that game was.
Man as a Mavs fan this really hurt me, but then i coudnt feel more happy for him but coudnt feel more sad for my team. But i thank Brandon Roy, this fueled us to win the title. If it wasnt for him we woudnt have won the finals in the first place, your champions probably would have been the Miami Heat. This fueled us to go all the way and i thank Him.
~True legends retire after a game like this. Even though he retired i just hoped one day he returns as a blazer.
This is my fondest memory of Roy. I saw this game live and I was just in awe of what he was doing, I could not believe it, if he shot the ball he scored, and if he passed he got the assist. Brandon Roy will be one of the best in crunch time, i just hope he returns one day
i feel bad for Portland.....Brandon Roy and Greg Oden...so much potential and definitely could have been some of the best.....just could not stay healthy
I'm not even a Blazers fan but this make me incredibly sad. I really can't believe we're loosing such talent in the NBA. All the Best Brandon Roy, NBA will definitely miss you. God bless.
if i was b roy id go talk to gilbert arenas and tell him stop being a miserable fuck and go fuckin playing the sport you love, atleast u didnt have to retire and are still able to play ball while u still can! SO GO OUT THERE AND KILL IT ARENAS CUZ I NO U STILL GOT IT IN U
So painful to watch, but this video reminds every blazers fan that Brandon Roy dedicated his life, his body, everything just for Portland, he turned the Jailblazers to the Trailblazers.. but most importantly, he revived Rip City. The game will miss Roy as much as he will miss the game.. thank you for everything!
What he did on the court is only half the story. He turned the franchise around. The fan base was done with the Jail Blazers and Roy brought us back. Thanks Brandon, you made me a fan again.
@slump17 He made me a fan again. I remember in my elementary and middle school days I wanted nothing to do with the Blazers because of all the Jail Blazers and bad characters on the teams. Then Brandon Roy came and all throughout High School and on I have been a die hard Blazer. He is truly a great man and turned around a great franchise. He will be missed greatly.
Epic. I'll miss him, he was my coach for a couple years when I went to the Lorenzo Romar basketball camps, really humble, great guy. Always extremely nice to me. Good person.
@Sone1ne yep, he's a poor millionaire, I'll give him that. I liked his play, but it's not like we should mourn the man. There's life outside the spotlight, I wish him all the best there.
@Ae3108 Obviously, you're not an athlete. It's more than just money, dickhead. It's having the one thing you've done your entire life and knew you were great at end. It's like losing a girlfriend of 10 years because of a tragic accident. Anyone who's an athlete or been through similar situations knows what i'm talking about. I pity you bro
@Sone1ne how can you compare losing a woman you love to losing an ability to dunk a basketball, man? If you thought for a second you would see what I'm after - being able to throw a pumped leather ballon through a metal loop is not what life is all about, anyone at least remotely smart is able to cope with reality without it. Especially when you dont have to worry about your kids having something to eat. But obviously you never lived in poverty. NBA is money, man, life is not basketball
@Ae3108 Uh, you're a freaking moron, "man." You go out and do something since when you were 5 years old till 27. That's 22 years. THAT WAS YOUR LIFE. Now that part is over, suddently. You've obviously never ever in your life been good at any sport or were part of any team. Damn, I feel sorry for you, "man."
@Ae3108 i love when idiots like you try to put down the importance of a sport in somebody's life by saying, "being able to throw a pumped leather ballon through a metal loop is not what life is all about." NBA is unlocked finally. But with the new amnesty clause Roy will be cut from the Blazers and his entire contract will be cut. He's still my favorite player. Once Portland becomes greedy and cuts him is when he will become back to what he once was. Rumors going around he might sign with Chicago... Him and Rose... What a backcourt. Don't be greedy Portland. He will be back once you actually start him and play him...
No matter how far your team is down this is why you never give up. amazing comebacks Ive seen included this, the one a few years ago in Portland vs Houston, vs Dallas when Bayless went beast mode, the Celtics at home and on the road against Memphis.
I know his knees aren't looking good. Its just i think, well I think he has a small shot at maintaining a career and coming back. After all he played this game on those knees.
Man, If Portland would have had things go their way they would have a ultimate beast squad Roy, Wallace, Aldridge, Oden....that sounds like a championship team to me. By the way im a huge Miami Heat fan
@theomarcus Roy's knees are fucked man. Knees dont magically heal up. Its sad because if healthy he could have potentially been mentioned in the same breath as Wade and Kobe as far as best SG's in the NBA
Fuck, this video just kills me. I remember when Brandon was in his first All-Star game and he was ready to be one of the top players in the league, and he was as far as the shooting guard position goes. But the injuries just came in and his knees just can't handle no more... He went from a potential Super Star to a Starter at best. How I would have loved to see him grow into what he could have been... Now the Blazers gotta look towards Lamarcus to lead the way, of course, with Brandon there too.
MAN IM HAPPY FOR B-ROY. WHAT AN ALLSTAR! THERES A REASON KOBE AND ARTEST SAY B-ROYS THEY BEST PLAYER THEY'VE PLAYED. youtube it!. I knew whoever came out of this series between Blazers/Mavs would have a great chance to beat the Lakers. Watching Dallas with ease get to the foul line and hold Camby and Aldridge in check was no fluke Round 1. Blazers play "D" and control the tempo so beating us isnt easy most days. FEARLESS, RELENTLESS, UNITED, WE ARE RIP CITY, AND WE WILL UPRISE! 20ODEN12

20ODEN12
