  • OMG!I have just started to watch your videos and i cheated, after a couple of videos i skipped some to see what you'd look like at the end,and i have to say that you aged a lot!!Around the middle or a couple of vid after, your face was full of life and i though your were so beautiful! Now i think you are to skinny. You look like 15 years older that you really are!I am not saying that to be disrespectful,i just want to make sure that you are ok.Want to know if this is associated with big weight loss

  • ... from Ukrainian descent that means alot of fried food, heavy creams, carbs, and bread-centric meals. Yes we had veggies etc. but also alot of high cal/high fat traditional foods. Does that mean my mom is at fault for my being obese..ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Too many issues of all kinds are blamed on 'our parents'... really at what point as an adult do you stop blaming everyone else for 'your stuff'. Anyway... my opinion..which along with a quarter won't even get ya a coffee! lol

  • Fat. A 3 letter word .. don't have a problem with it it but it totally depnds on the context people use it in. Personal responsibility...absolutely. But I do believe genetics make some more predisposed to gain weight... in times of starvation we'd be the stars we are very efficient in conserving calories! I think we learn our eating likes/dislikes and eating habits as children.....

  • I also believe that there are genetic pre-disposition to carrying weight.....and since getting to know my 1/2 sister better I can see that we carry the "FAT" gene of the family.....whereas my other 1/2 sister is a skinny minny and she seems to take after her mothers side more.

  • I also take respsonsibility for my FATNESS, although I do beleive that there are factors which enabled me.......part of that was my mothers paranoia that I would become anorexic if I started dieting to early in life......I started at Jenny Craig the first time at AGE 12. My parents had bought a shop when I was 9, so free lollies, chippies etc. Are they to blame.....NO, as I was was the one who stuffed my face. TBC in next comment.

  • Part of me also can't stand the word FAT as I also grew up with the name calling etc......

  • well i think its going to be kinda mean...but i was always made fun of for being extremely fat...when i get down to my goal I'm planning on makin fun of fatter people than me

  • Never really had a problem with the word fat. I excepted the fact that I was over weight and would often joke about it. I did loose weight plenty of times and people would be like wow. hen I would gain it back. I guess the fact that I could do something about it made it more like a temporary state? So I finally did something permanent about it and here i am.

  • ...it's still there. (Sorry it's so long.)

  • Wow this was a really thought provoking posting. I used to be called fat all the time as a kid and after a while you begin to believe it. And regardless of whether you are still fat or not that pain stays with you. Just like the first time someone laughs when you answer a question wrong at school and you never want to raise your hand again or you doubt your answer even if you know it. It just stings still. We shouldn't give words that much power, but they have it and even if we rebuild our lives

  • Sorry for the language but I hate the word FAT!. It's like the word pussy or dick. There are other words to describe overweight people. I wish the people would remove the word from their vocabulary. My children are not allowed to use the word at all. It's like a curse word in our house.

  • In terms of the responsibility/self control issue..most people's obesity can be directly or indirectly linked to the S.A.D. (standard American diet). Crap, garbage, processed, full of fat, sugar, salt, preservatives..geared to make you crave more and more..which makes a lot of people unable to control their eating..once they change their diets and get off of it..eat nonprocessed/clean/healthy/organic/vegan/raw..etc..they miraculously can control it and the weight usually begins to come off

  • I dont have a problem with the word fat..I think of it as a descriptor...but the words that often follow it, I do have a problem with ..like slob, pig, cow..etc..that's what makes it hurtful and demeaning. Call it fat, large, heavy, BBW/BHM, big-boneded, overweight..it's all the same..if you're fat, you're fat..but doesn't mean you're any less than anyone else.

  • I take full responsibility for every pound I put on that made me super morbidly . obese...Choices I made led to the obesity, simple as that. Now the word fat doesnt bother me much really...there are worse things to be called in life.

  • we are personally responsible for our obesity at one point. maybe someone was a heavy kid, etc, at some point, it is our responsiblity. I lost 160 lbs, eating "as if" I had WLS but didn't., not the answer for me, I have kept it off almost 4 years. Losing weight begins in our mind, not with what we put in our mouth. food has no power, its just food. You have to want to lose weight MORE than the food, or any power we give food. maybe that is true for WLS too?? I know its just a tool, not magical

  • Words only have the power we give them. Its like the "N" word to me. Obese people talking to each other can say it, but seems offensive when others say it. We really need to move on to human 2.0

  • I do admit that some people use the word "fat" as an insult and hurtful word but in my opinions is just an adjective.I amaze though that a DOCTOR used this word. it's so.. ??? not professional? couldn't he/she said more overweight person?.

  • I think often when the term "fat" was used, it was in a derogatory way. I don't like it because of that. Average-sized people probably don't have any problem with it because they haven't been labeled like that. I don't think it has anything to do with accepting yourself or not, I'm fine with myself but I still don't like the term "fat" just because it can conjure up certain feelings from the past when it was used.

I hope you don't mind me posting it here.

  • it depends on how comfortable you are with your body. if you've accepted your weight, it doesn't hurt to hear the words. but i see both sides and when i hear the word fat it does hurt. overeating is an addiction, and will power is just a side subject. amen - yes love who you are.

  • actually - I have to say that I hate the word in association to people... and yeah it's most likely because for most of my life now (since onset of puberty - teenage years) I have been! (thank you to PCOS!!!) Drama... lol. I don't like it - and I don't know if I will ever be ''OK'' with it...even if I want to. Maybe my degree of offense will change with time - when the weight comes off... I dunno.
