  • If anyone in the world can play this rag better, I'll eat my hat, my cap, and my entire collection of ragtime sheet music.....Mr. Hodges ability to improve upon any rag is unsurpassed and magical....What he has done with Eubie Blake's "The Chevy Chase," and "Fizz Water," is fantastic, to say the least.....I only wish one could buy the transcriptions of them.....

  • I think it's too slow.

  • I'll tell Frederick you said so. I'm sure he'll try speeding it up from now on.

    Merry Christmas!

  • @tdub1941 Do you suppose BachScholar could possibly be being sarcastic? Either way, I did notice that he has not supplied us with HIS version, played at what he considers to be the "correct" tempo. The difference between Frederick and Scholar is that Frederick is a remarkable technician, artist and performer vs Scholar's staid, mechanical and soulless playing... in his house. If he had half of Frederick's talent (& class), he wouldn't make comments like that, sarcastic or otherwise.

  • @ouirv

I think that negative critiques of art/music are OK in the right places, but I'm not enthusiastic about them here on my YouTube channel. Faster, slower, louder, quieter - so what! It is what it is, take it or leave it, and it is usually the best that any one particular artist/musician can do. If I post them I think they're pretty darned good. However, I've been thinking about the Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinci, & I think he should have improved her smile just a little! ;-)

  • @ouirv I agree with you 110% Tom. I am just so in love with Frederick (in a musical bromance kinda-way lol) that I cannot believe that anyone would make such a ridiculous comment. It should not surprise me in this case, since BachScholar had to turn off comments on all of his ragtime videos since he was getting so much flak for his arrogant proclamations about tempo, etc. At least we have dear Frederick to keep us truly entertained. :) Keep posting Tom!

  • Frederick you are a genius. Followed closely by young Adam Swanson. Could watch and listen all day.

    A fan from Bath. England.

  • Both of these piano wizards are absolute fun to be around!

They are the lives of the parties!

    Thanks for watching!
