@donnquix0te- I absolutely honor and respect the sacrifices that every soldier makes but the bottom line is that the armed forces are the tools of policy. So to say that I can't comment on freedoms that are being fought for is ridiculous. All one has to do is be aware of what is going on politically and a fair judgement can be made if my 'freedoms' are being fought for. I was against the invasion of Iraq after 9/11 from the start and that position has been found to be verified.
As a soldier I will say that I don't want my death televised to make any sort of political point. I agree with that decision fully. Can you imagine if (heaven forbid) while your family is grieving over you, or (also heaven forbid) you are grieving over a loved one, a camera is showing the entire thing to the world, trying to instill the idea that the powers that be aren't doing their jobs? Frankly I would want my death to mean a little more than politics and news coverage.

@uttexlane- I happen to work with a lot of veterans so I understand on some level where your anger come from. I really hope that you are able to process and work through it. Sounds like a lot of PTSD going on there, bro! With all due respect, what you have done in Iraq didn't have a damn thing to do with my freedoms, which also may be a source for your incredible amount of anger. It is a long road to get back to a healthy mental state of mind. I wish you the best of luck on your journey...
@teach1love We all get carried along with our orders, and to be honest its impossible to know what a war has to do with your freedoms if you aren't fighting it.
Hooah! Army Infantry here. Burn those HAJI FUCKS to the ground. God bless the free men women and childeren of Iraq, but every ingorant hippie fuck, every saudi, yemen, iranian or other citizen who traveled to Iraq to hurt me and my buddies needs to be fuckin dropped and left to rot. War is hell, if you can't stomach what it takes to free the opressed, then shut the fuck up with your god damn hippie bullshit and the opressed will suffer. No one wants peace more than the soldier, only he knows war
amos said it wasnt neccesarily intended for political purposes...but, its a deep song and it could be used in that way also i guess..i mean for the iraq war
I think it is a travesty that, unlike the war in Vietnam, our President has said that the press will not be allowed to cover flag-covered caskets arriving back in our country and the grieving families waiting at the airport to receive home again. Other than faceless statistics on the nightly news, Americans have no real idea of how many young lives have been lost in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The losses of Iraqi civilians is many, many times more. It is what it is.

I love this song but i do not like this video at all! It makes us look like terrorists. We are doing great things over seas but since normal citizens arent there they cannot see it. Just because you dont like the war doesnt mean you cant support our troops.
But this IS supporting our troops - showing the true sacrifices they are making (for a senseless war albeit). Of course we could all just stick our heads in the sand and give ourselves a pat on the back for all the great things we have done. The pictures are real and if it makes us look like terrorists,... well... then just maybe.... there is a bit of truth to that.
Love the song. The video is hard to watch, but shows an important message.
idk if i necessarily agree, i do say that yes, the united states is doing good things, like bring democracy BUT as the sametime woman are afraid to leave thier homes cuz of afraid of being raped or murdered. I also dont agree with the idea that the united states looks to encourage democracy & "defenders of the world" i mean where were we in rwanda when there was genocide & a high rate of poverty, the U.S. mostly looks 4 ITSELF & its interests 4 the most part
lastly, i do support our troops to come home safe, but doesnt mean i have to support this war, yes sadaam was an evil man and yes he supported other terrorists groups, tho there was no link between sadaam and Al queda, but it was a mistake for Bush senior to keep the man in power, so i think its a complicated topic, overall though, i dont agree with the war, i think Sadaam needed a Due process before we entered as we do wit ppl here in the U.S., a fair trail
