I will agree she has a very powerful voice BUT as far as Barbra is concerned, her TONE is much more distinctive then Lindas...Not knocking Linda at all, she IS great, but Barbras quality, tone, and pronunciation is what makes Babs one in a million
Well said. I'd add that like so many other powerful vocalists, Eder just seems to be displaying power without it really being relevant to the emotion or lyrics to the song. What makes Streisand so unique is that not only was she gifted with a phenomenal singing voice, but as an actress, she adds a larger-than-life PERSONALITY to her performances. As Barbra herself says; she is really an actress who sings.
@mikesterSTLMO yes streisand is one of the few who can be powerful but decides to pull back because sometimes the emotion of that section of the song demands it. She feels the song and doesn't show off. But in Linda's defense, she is a singer after the Whitney Houston generation. Singing out is what sells, look at American Idol. But I still agree that Eder just doesn't put the emoting into that voice.
Linda Eder's voice is more powerful and versatile than Barbra Streisand howerer I have always wondered with so much talent Linda Eder is not a household name like Celine, Whitney or Barbara
yup, i wonder why. And what about those recording artists of 2day that cant really sing as much as linda eder, that became popular. Anybody there that can answer, i really want to know.
@templar1217 because making it doesn't mean talent. Talented people making it is rare because there is only room for one or two. When Whitney was famous there were other great vocalists but the market would not push for it. Also many buyers go for the beat not the talent. Sex sells too. Then there is luck and the genre you choose. Eder does not sing crossover songs like Celine. Eder is a success in her field. She is a diva of broadway.
@italo36 Streisand is more versatile. she is the only singer who was not in the rock n roll era who was able to sing different genres but not lose her identity. The only woman to have a #1 album each decade spanning 50 years. That is versatile. She also can sing funny songs w/ perfect timing. Her biggest selling album was one made by Barry Gibb in the 70s. She is much much more versatile and has the years and records and movies to prove it.
the pianist in so fun to watch
