No matter what gel "system" you use, you NEED to use a primer. I also use this same exact gel and it does require that you use a primer. Please, don't give out advice if it's bad advice.
@mom2twoboyssn why would I intentionally give out bad advice? I'm just here to help any way I can, and like I've already said, I'm not a professional, so I've already given people fair warning that not all that I say is correct.
When I started learning how to do nails with this system, I was following the tutorials on gel-nails . com (which is where you can purchase the gels) and that did not say you had to use a primer, and they may be wrong, but that is just where I got my info from.
I just bought the IBD UV GEL Kit from Amazon... @ Home, I filed my already gel nails, applied a cost of Gel Bonder/Color Gel & tried to cure out under my UV lamp but it Did Not Dry/Cure...came out sticky! Please Help! What went Wrong?
@jINEZg make sure you read the instructions on the kit and that you cured it long enough, also different wattage of UV lamps take different amount of time. For example a 36watt UV lamp will dry something much faster than a 9 watt one.
Also, did you notice it was hard, but sticky? if it was hard, but sticky just use a cotton ball/pad, soak it with 70% isopropyl alcohol, and wipe off the sticky layer ( i mention that as the last step in my video) :) Let me know how that goes! :)
@aiaiNkiki First you need to use a black cloth because we can not see your tip nails or what are you putting ontop of that white towell. Second at what time you are going to use the prime because I didn't see you using the primer. Seams that you are not a professional you just learn a little bit how to do gel nail but you are missing steps. Ops! you miss does steps on purpose so client nails come of quickly and you charge them twice right? and yolu will say that's the way to make money right!!!
@mariebk10 first, thanks for the tip. second, I didn't use a "primer" i used a "base gel" instead, different systems require different needs. thirds, i never said I was a professional and I still have much to learn, but I'm just trying to help any way that I can and I'm not saying that everything that I do is right. by the way, i dont have any clients, so why would I want to do their nails quickly and charge twice? thanks for watching!
Give it 4 or 5 days and they will start pinging off. You did not put on any primer before putting the gel on. Primer acts like an adhesive to make sure the gel sticks to your natural nail plate. Without this, the nails will start to pop off! As for the seam (stressline) not showing...yes it will if you keep it to plain clear gel overlay. The seam needs properly blending in.
I know all this because I am a qualified Gel nail technician!
@MrsBalders in place of primer, I used "base gel", which acts as the primer in this systems. all gel systems are different and have different needs, thanks for the tips!
i bought my own gel and a 36W curing lamp. Its the same stuff that the girl who does my nails perfectly uses (i moved away and i can't go to her anymore). I think I'm doing them the exact way she did them, but every time I try, they pop off like press on nails. I don't use the fake nails cause my own nails are long enough. Do I have to file them for the gel to "stick" to my own nails? HELP!!!!
after i put topcoat and cure it 3 min or more, and than wipe it with ceanser plus -/ alcohol. all shine was gone 0o heeelp. please did i do something wrong ?
I do gel nails myself, I got professional UV light (36W or something.) And I got IBD blush gel which Ive tried using with a base gel underneath but that didnt quite worked out. I do use the IBD natural nail primer. But whatever I do, after a day it comes loose at the free edge. And after a while lifting is everywhere and this is a great place for bacteria aswell.. How the (*&$^@# do I fix this??? I spended like a total on 100 euro on supplies and I refuse to go to a salon at this point.
@Eefieeh hmm, are you using false tips as well? like i am in the video? usually if you are, it shouldn't lift at the free edge. If you are just using gel, and not the tips, then if it starts to lift, i recommend immediately filling it in with nail glue, until you dont see anymore lifting or air bubbles (make sure there are no air bubbles when you do your nails and after, thats how nails lift). If you apply the nail glue, it should lift less or not lift at all :)
hey! how long do the stones last? i didn't see exactly, but did you put the gel over the stones at the end, or just besides? because i have rhinestones myself here and i don't know how to do exactly =) beautiful nails!
@emma14watson they last pretty long, but a couple do fall off here and there :) i did put the gel around it, but not right on top because it makes it less shiney. if you want them to stay on longer though, then putting on top would seal them in
@TheBeauty4teens Yes, you can paint gel nails but you will need to add a top coat to seal your designs/polish, which will be less glossy/shiny than the original gel top coat. You can paint on a nail art design with nail polish and then if you have a uv lamp at home, you can add the clear uv gel topcoat over your painted design to put back the lovely glossy shine of gel. Hope that helps :)
Oh my gosh! Thank you so sooo much for this tutorial! I can't beleive it, my mum just told me she bought me a UV gel lamp for my christmas present, and its the EXACT SAME ONE as yours! I'm so happy to be able to follow a tutorial when my lamp arrives that uses the same lamp so I can follow and know that your instructions will work with what ive got! ~ <3
@BellaaBambina they could last up to a month or so if you're good with your nails, but I was bad and chipped at them so they lasted me about 1-2weeks :)
@aiaiNkiki Do you still do gel nails? Now thats its been a year since you bought this stuff, would you say you use it often and they're worth investing in, or would you stick to natural nails? Honest advice pls :) I'm contemplating whether to stick to natural or buy a gel nail system.
@BellaaBambina honestly, I only do gel nails for special occasions. I don't wear them often, but I would say they are definitely great for those special occasions such as my birthday, or anniversary when I want to look glam. For me, doing nails is my hobby, so I invest in it because I enjoy doing it and its fun to me. But if you're looking for something more practical that you could wear everyday, I'd probably stick to natural nails. So it depends on what youre looking for :)
@sexiisamii22 if you don't think you need to file then you don't, you can do it your way too! :) Its totally your own preference and I'm sure it'll turn out great.
@sexiisamii22 thanks! hmm it might, unless the design is imprinted on the whole nail. I would take take one of the tips and try filing it and see if the design is still there before you put it on all your nails :)
@XRhia08X hmm really any nail glue would be good, i'd recommend going to walmart or walgreens/drugstores/etc. and look for "nail glue" the brand kiss makes some and I like it :) they are generally all the same, so you cant really go wrong :)
@duckiesmayrule no, but it is like the sunlight, so if you do it often, you might get sun damage. I'd recommend trying to use a bit of sunscreen on your fingers but keep it away from the cuticles and nails, because that may affect the gel from adhering to your nails :)
I am new to gel nails so mind if I ask some questions?
If I applied gel to my nails without a tip would it help re-enforce them and grow longer and can I simply fill in the gaps as my nail grows out without taking the gel off.
And if i can where just gel can I apply tips later.
Can you apply regular polish over gel nails?
And, how do you take the gel off? File or soak them?
@Poorstargazer23 you can fill the gap without taking the gel off, but you should file it down first to make it more even. I believe you can apply tips later, but I've never tried this so I am not entirely sure about this. Yes you can apply regular polish over gel nails. To remove, you can either just soak them in nail polish remover/acetone or file then soak. Hope that helps!
@Poorstargazer23 Gel nails can in general NOT be soaked off, unless you be a gel specifically made to soak off. Soak off gels and not as strong as the non-soak gels, and are generally too weak when you wanna do extensions on the nail.
Hi, My nails are very ridged because of an illness and without my arcylics my nails will not even hold polish. I didn't see you file your nails before this system. Can you please tell me if you would think that this gel system would cover up the ridging in my nails as well as acrylics do? I can no longer justify paying to get my nails done and want to invest in the right system for me. Love the glitter!! The added bling is a little over the top for me. It looks beautiful on you though. ty
@dawnten hi dear, yes i think gel nails would cover up the ridging (you can put on a thick layer of gel, or multiple layers if you like), I feel that gel and acrylics give similar results, but gel is even better because it is easier to maneuver and also shinier and glossier without having to buff and file as much. (also gel doesn't have a strong odor like acrylics do) you can really use any gel system you like, you don't have to use this exact same one because most gels should work the same way.
@Niniluvkawaii yea! i like it so much more than acrylic!! ♥ its an investment tho, but you can find some pretty good deals on ebay :) i think you'd love the results hehee
i keep seeing tutorials where it says "remove sticky residue" whats that about. and i have acrylic powder can i use that and mix it with uv gel or no?
@makinowatanabe uv gels usually leave a sticky residue that needs to be removed after ur done curing it in the uv lamp. no, i dont think you should mix acrylic with gel because they are different things :)
is the overlay gel necessary? or is it purely just for the decoration? and also do you need the finishing gel if you are just doing white tips? or is the finishing gel to be put on over the top of the overlay... im confused lol
@maddy860 it really depends on your system of gel nails that you buy :)some of them you just need a overlay gel, but the finishing gel is usually needed because that is what makes it shiney :D there are also one step gels out there so that you don't need finsihing or anything, just that one kind of gel :)
not sure if anyone has said this, but when it comes to the blending it's a lot easier if you start filing them before they're on the nail. i'm a nail tech and i found that this cuts the blending time in half.
They loook soo good!!!!! Is it easier to use gel instead of the acrylic? I wanna try to do my own nails which one you think is better for a person just starting on nails?
@noonic23 yep i find them easier than acrylic because there is less filing and buffing involved, since its shiney already :) plus it has no smell like acrylics do! hehe I would recommend gels, but its an investment since you'll have to buy the lamp and stuff, but there are sets on ebay for around 35-40 bucks I think that include gels and a lamp :)
I just did a set on myself...with black tips (while watching your vid) I love them...no more salon ( I love diy) Thanks for the vid...I need some more practice but they look nice enough to wear out. My family thought I went to nail salon...
@16olivia02 perhaps you need to cure it under the uv lamp for longer? if you cure it long enough it'll be hard, and then you have to wipe your nails with isopropyl alcohol (70% rubbing alcohol) to get the sticky feeling away. Then your nails should be smooth and shiney, and not sticky or anything. Hope that helps :)
Hiya , I realy like this video , u make it look so easy ! .. I have just bought a uv gel kit , with 36w uv lamp.. My question is , if u can help, I put the gel on , cure then it comes out all sticky.. Am I doing something wrong ?.. Or how does it dry ?. My own nails are super short, I bite them realy bad. So I like the way u put the clear nail tips in the middle of ur own nails. :) lovely work :) x
@strawberryacid123 is it hard but has a sticky layer? that always happens :) just use some 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) on a cotton ball and wipe it off, it should come off and your nails should be nice and shiney and not sticky :D
does using uv nail gels ruin your nails because my nails are quite long and healthy but i love the look of false/acrylic nails but i don't want to ruin my own cos like i said, theres nothing wrong with them? and are they easy to use? :)
@Cheryl4Lyf they can ruin your nails if you don't remove them properly. Removing gel nails may take off a thin layer of your actual nail, causing your nails to be thinner and weaker over time. I don't know too much about the effects of gel nails but I would assume doing them occasionally would be ok, but not all the time :)
Hi, sorry if you've answered this before but, did you put the rhinestones and things on before you cured the nails or after, and then you applied the last gel coat?
@zzztingzzz you can cut the long tips off then file it down, then soak your nails in acetone/ polish remover, the nail tips will be so thin that it would come off as well :)
A friend of mine who graduated earlier this week had nails like this. I was so impressed, I mean. It's super pretty!
I can't really cope with long nails, I love it but it slows me down when I'm typing or dissecting computers. But I made my own version of graduation nails; I painted a bloody meat cleaver on one thumb and a bloody body with no head on the other. On the rest of the nails I wrote FUCK THIS.
@candyluver178 i don't think any is healthier, I think they're probably just the same :) and its not too hard to stick rhinestones there but it takes practice to not get the glue on your fingers
@HFcool1 because sometimes i like to have longer nails and also gel nails look different from just painting on your nails, it lasts longer and the rhinestones stay on the nail longer too. :)
@pinkturtlz um actually it is just the first nail system that I tried, and it worked for me so I didn't feel the need to try anything else, but I'm sure there are other systems out there that are good too :)
great nails., great video :D I just wanted to ask where you buy all your gels at? and your rhinestones? I would love the link if possible, so hard to find all this stuff. Also wanted to thank you for your time, on making youtube fun :D
@rck251993 you don't necessarily have to use base gel depending on what kind of gel you buy :) my gel system requires base gel, but sometimes you can just have clear gel and not the base gel, it should usually say it in the instructions or something. Hope that helped :)
just wanted to say thanks, you have like the only good gel nail video with cool sparkles im just starting all this stuff too and i found the acrylic smell was way to harsh to work with in my house soo i had to go and buy a lamp and some gel to be able to actually do this i baugt the sparkles butt there loss, this means i have to take some of the sparkle and overlay gel and mix it to make it like your purple sparkle that u use right ?? same thing kida ...? any tips would be alot of help thx
@Fetch604 aww thanks for the sweet comment hun! yes you can totally mix the glitter in the overlay gel, I would just suggest not to stir it too much so there won't be any air bubbles in it :) goodluck with your nails! i'm sure it'll look amazing!
Theres also product called Bonder to replace base gel... And all base gels doesnt need 36W lamp. And u also shouldt play so much with thick builder gel cause u will get air bubbles into it. :D and isnt those christals and all other stuff on ur nails distirbing ur everyday life? rnt they getting stucked into ur nails?
@Navitrolla yea, I'm not saying everyone has to use the exact same thing as me, as there are a lot of different gels out there, I'm just showing people how I do it :) um, I do glue the crystals onto my nails, I usually only do gel nails on special occasions, so it doesn't disturb me too much :) Thnx for watching
@theuniiqueqiirl i got my uv lamp online. and i save alot over time cuz going to salons cost alot in the long run. if u want the site name just msg me.=)
@sillygirlwing some gel systems don't even need a base or finishing. a lot of gels are just builder gels that you can apply straight onto the nail with out a base, and people like to buy the finishing/top coat gel just to make it extra shiny, but thats optional, so if it doesn't say that a base gel or finishing gel is required, then it is most likely not required :) hope that helped!
@pinkixora mine cost $50, you can look for some on ebay :) to remove the nails you file it down, and cut it, but dont pry it off or that'll damage the nail
Im learnin how to do nails n ur way is fast n easy thanks

Can you please tell me if you would think that this gel system would cover up the ridging in my nails as well as acrylics do? I can no longer justify paying to get my nails done and want to invest in the right system for me. Love the glitter!! The added bling is a little over the top for me. It looks beautiful on you though. ty
dawnten 5 months ago
@dawnten hi dear, yes i think gel nails would cover up the ridging (you can put on a thick layer of gel, or multiple layers if you like), I feel that gel and acrylics give similar results, but gel is even better because it is easier to maneuver and also shinier and glossier without having to buff and file as much. (also gel doesn't have a strong odor like acrylics do) you can really use any gel system you like, you don't have to use this exact same one because most gels should work the same way.

Oh wow lovely...may be I'm wrong, but UV nail art seems to be much easier than acrylic nail art...more expensive tho...but the result is super cute!
Niniluvkawaii 6 months ago
@Niniluvkawaii yea! i like it so much more than acrylic!! ♥ its an investment tho, but you can find some pretty good deals on ebay :) i think you'd love the results hehee

is base gel the same as the uv base polish?
makinowatanabe 6 months ago
@makinowatanabe umm i'm not really sure because it really depends on your uv gel system, some dont require a base gel :)
aiaiNkiki 6 months ago
i keep seeing tutorials where it says "remove sticky residue" whats that about. and i have acrylic powder can i use that and mix it with uv gel or no?
makinowatanabe 6 months ago
@makinowatanabe uv gels usually leave a sticky residue that needs to be removed after ur done curing it in the uv lamp. no, i dont think you should mix acrylic with gel because they are different things :)
aiaiNkiki 6 months ago
is the overlay gel necessary? or is it purely just for the decoration? and also do you need the finishing gel if you are just doing white tips? or is the finishing gel to be put on over the top of the overlay... im confused lol
maddy860 6 months ago
@maddy860 it really depends on your system of gel nails that you buy :)some of them you just need a overlay gel, but the finishing gel is usually needed because that is what makes it shiney :D there are also one step gels out there so that you don't need finsihing or anything, just that one kind of gel :)
aiaiNkiki 6 months ago
not sure if anyone has said this, but when it comes to the blending it's a lot easier if you start filing them before they're on the nail. i'm a nail tech and i found that this cuts the blending time in half.
they look great though, good job!
CourtneyFCKINGHaines 6 months ago
@CourtneyFCKINGHaines thanks for the tip!! :)
aiaiNkiki 6 months ago
They loook soo good!!!!! Is it easier to use gel instead of the acrylic? I wanna try to do my own nails which one you think is better for a person just starting on nails?
noonic23 6 months ago
@noonic23 yep i find them easier than acrylic because there is less filing and buffing involved, since its shiney already :) plus it has no smell like acrylics do! hehe I would recommend gels, but its an investment since you'll have to buy the lamp and stuff, but there are sets on ebay for around 35-40 bucks I think that include gels and a lamp :)
aiaiNkiki 6 months ago
where did u get teh jeell stuff?and how much is a SMALL contanter?O.O

@yurika975 aww so glad it worked out for you hun ;) ♥
aiaiNkiki 7 months ago
@16olivia02 no problem dear, hope it works for you :)
aiaiNkiki 7 months ago
@16olivia02 perhaps you need to cure it under the uv lamp for longer? if you cure it long enough it'll be hard, and then you have to wipe your nails with isopropyl alcohol (70% rubbing alcohol) to get the sticky feeling away. Then your nails should be smooth and shiney, and not sticky or anything. Hope that helps :)
aiaiNkiki 7 months ago
what happen if you dont have a UV lamp??? is there another for them to dry??
TrineaCares 7 months ago
@TrineaCares yes uv gel requires the uv lamp or else it'll never harden :) thats why they are called "uv" gels
aiaiNkiki 7 months ago
do you need the bottom base?
bataviabulldogs97 7 months ago
Hiya , I realy like this video , u make it look so easy ! .. I have just bought a uv gel kit , with 36w uv lamp.. My question is , if u can help, I put the gel on , cure then it comes out all sticky.. Am I doing something wrong ?.. Or how does it dry ?. My own nails are super short, I bite them realy bad. So I like the way u put the clear nail tips in the middle of ur own nails. :) lovely work :) x
strawberryacid123 7 months ago
@strawberryacid123 is it hard but has a sticky layer? that always happens :) just use some 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) on a cotton ball and wipe it off, it should come off and your nails should be nice and shiney and not sticky :D

aiaiNkiki 7 months ago
does using uv nail gels ruin your nails because my nails are quite long and healthy but i love the look of false/acrylic nails but i don't want to ruin my own cos like i said, theres nothing wrong with them? and are they easy to use? :)
Cheryl4Lyf 7 months ago
@Cheryl4Lyf they can ruin your nails if you don't remove them properly. Removing gel nails may take off a thin layer of your actual nail, causing your nails to be thinner and weaker over time. I don't know too much about the effects of gel nails but I would assume doing them occasionally would be ok, but not all the time :)
aiaiNkiki 7 months ago
Hi, sorry if you've answered this before but, did you put the rhinestones and things on before you cured the nails or after, and then you applied the last gel coat?
michinirakuen 8 months ago
@michinirakuen I put it on after I cured my nails and then put the last gel coat and cured it again :)

Hi
I understand that the gel could be soaked off by using acetone but how do i remove the nail tips that was initially sticked onto the nail using glue?
zzztingzzz 8 months ago
@zzztingzzz you can cut the long tips off then file it down, then soak your nails in acetone/ polish remover, the nail tips will be so thin that it would come off as well :)
aiaiNkiki 8 months ago
WOW, that's really cool.
On the rest of the nails I wrote FUCK THIS.

is it hard sticking the rhimestones on there? :D
candyluver178 8 months ago
r gel nails healthier then acrylic? y?
candyluver178 8 months ago
@candyluver178 i don't think any is healthier, I think they're probably just the same :) and its not too hard to stick rhinestones there but it takes practice to not get the glue on your fingers
aiaiNkiki 8 months ago
This doesn't have a smell like acrylic liquid does it?
badgurl5794 8 months ago
@badgurl5794 nope it doesnt :) which is another reason why I prefer gel over acrylic! :)

aiaiNkiki 9 months ago
this is a lot of work why don't you just paint on your natural nails?
HFcool1 9 months ago
@HFcool1 because sometimes i like to have longer nails and also gel nails look different from just painting on your nails, it lasts longer and the rhinestones stay on the nail longer too. :)
aiaiNkiki 9 months ago
@HFcool1 oo also I forgot to mention I wouldn;t do this like all the time, only for special occasions :)

WHY DO YOU LIKE THIS NAIL GEL SYSTEM SO MUCH, WHAT IS THE PLUS SIDE OF IT??
pinkturtlz 10 months ago
@pinkturtlz um actually it is just the first nail system that I tried, and it worked for me so I didn't feel the need to try anything else, but I'm sure there are other systems out there that are good too :)
aiaiNkiki 10 months ago
hi, where did you buy your gels at?? btw great nails :D
pinkturtlz 10 months ago
@pinkturtlz i get them from gel-nails(dot)com or ebay :)
aiaiNkiki 10 months ago
great nails., great video :D I just wanted to ask where you buy all your gels at? and your rhinestones? I would love the link if possible, so hard to find all this stuff. Also wanted to thank you for your time, on making youtube fun :D
pinkturtlz 10 months ago
could you use clear gel to replace base gel?
rck251993 10 months ago
@rck251993 you don't necessarily have to use base gel depending on what kind of gel you buy :) my gel system requires base gel, but sometimes you can just have clear gel and not the base gel, it should usually say it in the instructions or something. Hope that helped :)
aiaiNkiki 10 months ago
just wanted to say thanks, you have like the only good gel nail video with cool sparkles im just starting all this stuff too and i found the acrylic smell was way to harsh to work with in my house soo i had to go and buy a lamp and some gel to be able to actually do this i baugt the sparkles butt there loss, this means i have to take some of the sparkle and overlay gel and mix it to make it like your purple sparkle that u use right ?? same thing kida ...? any tips would be alot of help thx
Fetch604 10 months ago
@Fetch604 aww thanks for the sweet comment hun! yes you can totally mix the glitter in the overlay gel, I would just suggest not to stir it too much so there won't be any air bubbles in it :) goodluck with your nails! i'm sure it'll look amazing!
aiaiNkiki 10 months ago
Theres also product called Bonder to replace base gel... And all base gels doesnt need 36W lamp. And u also shouldt play so much with thick builder gel cause u will get air bubbles into it. :D and isnt those christals and all other stuff on ur nails distirbing ur everyday life? rnt they getting stucked into ur nails?
Navitrolla 10 months ago
@Navitrolla yea, I'm not saying everyone has to use the exact same thing as me, as there are a lot of different gels out there, I'm just showing people how I do it :) um, I do glue the crystals onto my nails, I usually only do gel nails on special occasions, so it doesn't disturb me too much :) Thnx for watching

on ebay the kits are like white gel, pink gel, clear gel...is that the same as base, builder and finishing?! which ones which?
sillygirlwing 1 year ago
@sillygirlwing some gel systems don't even need a base or finishing. a lot of gels are just builder gels that you can apply straight onto the nail with out a base, and people like to buy the finishing/top coat gel just to make it extra shiny, but thats optional, so if it doesn't say that a base gel or finishing gel is required, then it is most likely not required :) hope that helped!
aiaiNkiki 1 year ago
how much is your uv lamp ? i bought some gel but im still not sure what to do and also how to remove the gel ? Thanks
pinkixora 1 year ago
@pinkixora mine cost $50, you can look for some on ebay :) to remove the nails you file it down, and cut it, but dont pry it off or that'll damage the nail
aiaiNkiki 1 year ago
@pinkixora I got one at ebay for 15 dollars ! Works like a charm =D
