  • that chick is weird, she says "you pop it into hot water and its gone" pfft no it still feels pain! ugh people in the world are missed up.

  • Oh yes humane this humane that! The thing is out of water, in bright light, and exhausted. Kill it already. Ah sorry i forgot they froze it first so it is ok now! My bad, look at it still alive while they talk. How about no one kills any animal for food. Wouldn't that be the next step. Big crayfish though and its kind of harder to find them these days. Granted they still taste great. Oh aren't we all hypocrites haha. Still a day will come where killing for food is unethical. Look at slavery!

  • If the cray had been frozen, it would have just shut down, induced hibernation which means it dies rather painlessly.

They can still be alive out of water for quite a while.

Though if they are out of water it is best to wrap them in a damp cloth and place them in a darker area.

Also if you cut through the brain, it dies very quickly, any twitching is what most bodies do when muscles spasm, post mortem.

Have to learn this shit when training to be a chef. Crays can shoot their claws boiled.

  • @slobberty Who really gives a shit!!! It's dead and it's not going to remember that it was in pain! Bunch of fucking morons would carry on about it being in pain... it's food for fuck sake!!! What about the people dying of starvation. Oh sorry we can't feed them until we learn how to kill our food painlessly....!

  • @navara899

Way to keep with the topic of conversation there buddy. You are a credit to your species.

Your little segue way into 'starvation' is particularly weak. Congratulations on a rebuttal that is even to moronic for a child to think up.

  • Take a cray and put it on the cutting board to slowly suffocate for 10 minutes while you talk SHIT!!!! LMFAO, You morons.... They die as soon as they hit boiling water rather than wriggle around on the cutting board for 5 minutes with a brain haemorrhage....

  • @navara899

No they don't die straight away dipshit, hence why I said they shoot their claws as a last ditch attempt to fuck you up.

Any living thing put in boiling liquid won't kill it straight away, image a cow living, and put in boiling water.

  • What a fucking cunt. As a cook you need to realise what you are doing and respect the animal.

  • Dumb bitch everything has feelings

  • Moron Chef saying the that cray is about 4 years old, on average it takes a cray about 8 years just to reach legal size and that cray was well over legal size. and as for shellfish, they do have a nervous system even if it is pretty primitive compared to our own

  • Yeah, boiling IS the most humane way to kill a lobster. Their "brains" are distributed around the body in bunches of cells called "ganglion". Stabbing them through central cortex just makes 2 distressed crayfish. What a joke.

  • "would you like me to put you in a boiling pot of water?" how illogical, she should have taken offense and said "would you like me to stab you in the center of the skull and cut your head in half?" she would have sued the show.

  • I love animals, but people get too annoying with aspca peta crap. Throwing them straight into water is how most people do it. But killing animals is perfectly okay if it's in a slaughterhouse where we can't see by the billions. Imo it's better they got some time in the wild and thrown in a pot then being bred to die and have their head lobbed off.

  • Just put your cray in fresh tapwater, they die within 20 minutes.

  • thanks, i just bought a live cray

  • spoiled well fed bitch

  • That is out right animal murder right there, splitting it's head into half is like watching horror movie live. I wonder what he's gonna use if there is no fire, boiling water or knife.

  • I bet no one knew that lobsters are related to the sea lice family, yes the sea lice that eat dead people on the sea floor. crays will eat any thing including dead animals and people...

  • And now boil the cray so it's not wasted I suppose.

  • The cray isn't really gone... Its still moving!!!

  • @edarion01 just nerves cuzzy

  • @edarion01 he said there was some rigor mortis...

  • @edarion01 Nerves.

  • Peter Thornley is a faggot. I will never eat at Kermadeck again after seeing this. I don't want to eat a shitty pack horse cray anyway.

  • it look'd so sad :,(

  • @Asianleful They may not 'feel' pain but they feel pain if you know what I mean. If they didn't, how would they know they're under attack? Anyway, boiling's the best way to kill them-plus it seals them juices in

  • @Asianleful if they dont feel pain then why do they screech when u chuck them in boiling water?? If they dont feel pain then boiling water would jus feel like cold water to them and they wouldnt be screeching right?

  • @Asianleful I wasn't stating facts bro i was just asking questions hence the question marks after my sentences. And as for learning new facts that i can support, be careful i might just come back one day and do that haha i have plenty of co-workers studying crayfish at the Marine lab where im based they might suprise us you never know lol, as for me i'm gona carry on studying abalone and sea urchins for my research

  • @Asianleful oh and if you like a friendly debate on those two i'd be more than happy to set you straight on those and back it up with plenty of evidence haha and ur vids u uploaded.. nice pond setups and tank setups very cool :)

  • @Asianleful you asked me to support my statements about lobsters feeling pain. My co-workers have said these are two articles done on crustaceans to back this hypothesis. "Pain experience in hermit crabs?", and Nocieption or pain in a decapod crustacean" both studies were published in The journal 'Animal behaviour' and both studies were conducted by Professor Robert Elwood an expert on Animal Behaviour along with his colleagues.

  • @Asianleful oh and as for telling me to learn some facts first, these two articles were published in 2008 and 2009 maybe you should update your facts first before telling me to learn new ones

  • @ronki23 Actually - when you boil em' live, they tend to shed their limbs... best to kill them with a skewer, then plunge them in luke warm water and bring to the boil.

Let me guess... you buy em cooked? ;)

  • Freezing isn't humane either - it's a long and slow process... not sure for crays but it certainly is (tortue) for everything else.

  • who cares if it was thrown into a pot, kicking her off the show was retarded.

  • Yeah this women is really annoying, she doesn't think when she speaks.

  • can crayfish breathe oxygen? i know they move arund.. but are they suffocating? anyone?

  • stupid bitch
