In 1954 Meteor had three models, Meteor, Niagara and Rideau. In 1954 Ford also had three models, Mainline, Customline and Crestline. There was no model called the Ford Rideau. The Meteor was sold by Mercury dealers. Ford dealers sold a car similar to the Mercury but it was called Monarch. So In Canada in 1954 FoMoCo had two types of dealers, Ford/Monarch dealers and Mercury/Meteor dealers. The Meteor was similar to Ford and the Monarch was similar to Mercury.
The 54 Canadian Ford, Meteor and Merc still used the Flathead V8 while the U.S models used the OHV V8 Canadian cars were behind in adopting the new engine.
ya its a small world, i thought i seen this Ford before!, i know i have seen that Amphicar you filmed down in Old Town, it has the Blues brothers decal on the back end, i got some footage of it in the water! at the show :) i will upload that in the coming future, but as of now, i can't even post this week's video, ah well i will work something out, but thanks for making a note with your reply video Jack, its a small world for sure! :)
Hey, Brent! Good to hear from you! A testimony to the Amphicar and the Ford..they are continental travelers! Hope things are going as smoothly as possible! Your friend, Jack :)
i still can't believe i have seen 2 cars now that you filmed down in Florida, well 2 cars that i know of! there could have been more! who knows there are so many cars and trucks at these shows, i try to keep track of them in my mind, well locally i have a good sense where certain cars and trucks live, via i remember where they live when i see them parked in lane ways and on farmers land! i basically know where a number of trucks like mine are! for obvious reasons! always looking for one more part!
Hey, Brent! It is amazing...but I guess not too shocking, for we have a LOT of "snowbirds" from the Northeast, Midwest and Canada who are pleased to be in a warm climate over the Winter.
At least it used to be that way...with the economy in the dumpster, I think we'll see fewer Winter residents...but if they bought a place down here, they can't readily sell it! A dilemma for sure! :) Jack
@MrEdsel I sure wish I knew the owner's telephone number..but the best way I can get in touch with him is to let him know of your interest at the next show I go to at Old Town... :) Jack
yep sure is! can't say i have seen you around on my channel, i suggest you subscribe to my channel as i have many more car videos and such planned, also be sure to check out my other videos including the videos of my '77 F-150 swb 4x4 restoration, again thanks for the comment and for stopping by! :)
yep it appears to be a rare one, 1 of 26, and this is a Canadian Ford thus, it still had the flat head V8, the more modern Y block would come to Canadian Ford's in '55, unlike in the U.S. where the '54 Ford and Mercury got the more modern overhead valve V8 engine that only the Lincoln had before '54, glad you liked this car, and thanks for the comment, and be sure to check out all my other videos :)
