This just makes me want to go to UMich even more! I've heard that Ann Arbor is an awesome city to live in. I'm really jealous I didn't grow up closer to AA.
I have lived in Michigan my whole life, only about 20 min away from Ann Arbor, and have spent countless days visiting the city. I now attend the University of Michigan and live in the city, but even after all the time i have spent walking around campus I have never realized all it has to offer, and all the fairy doors. thank you for opening my eyes
Still watching and loving this months later. :) You're really good at making funny videos, and fun things and vlogs, but when you make serious things like this? Oh my gosh, amazing. Well put together, very thoughtful and intelligant. Even though I think I spelled that wrong. Oh well. Anywho, I love all your videos, but ones like these are great every once in awhile. Keep it up. :)
Have you ever considered being a writer?? Looking at this video as a short essay your WORDS even have your voice in them!! You're ideas are very clear and entertaining as well as thought provoking.
I also like your reading voice. :) Very gentle and B-E-A-U-T-iful!

i wish my town had something like this. i live in staten island, and unless 4loko cans littering the street count as a "town tradition or secret", im pretty absent from these sorts of things....
HOW DID THIS NOT GO INTO MY SUBSCRIPTION BOX!? Tyler, I LOVE this video. Sorry for the obnoxious caps...I've been on youtube for like 5 years and have never typed in caps - thought I'd try something new today. =)
Wow I knew you was in Michigan before you even said but I just started watching your videos and I love you u so crazy girl lol much love and respect pro peace -cj
This was a great video. It tugged on my heart a little bit and I knew you were right, there are many many things to explore right in your own backyard. As someone who has recently moved very far from their hometown I feel it is especially important to explore and understand one's backyard, and even more importantly take joy and comfort from everything you find.
i was on the urban fairies website a while ago and then stumbled upon your vid, so i decided to come here and comment. I know to alot of people these doors could just be a wonderful distraction or a way of relaxing, but to the people of the website and to others, it is a reality that fairies exists and remember that we are only humans in this 3-dimensional realm. There's a whole universe out there, it's comical to think we're the only ones.
IDK why but the end of this video made me a little emotional. I think I'm missing being up north or just the old building. IDK but those little doors are a reminder that we need to take a deeper look at the wonder in our own areas and look past the negative. Thumbs up.
wow I love Michigan now just for having these and now i wanna go tour my City..I do enjoy getting out of the train in a new place I've never been before.
Its weird that I noticed this but I recognized that area. Dance2xs Michigan is having a show at a club called Necto down there (which is why I noticed it). You should come!
Detroit is the same, so many people think it's a dead city with nothing going on other than the obvious sporting events and concerts. If you are a true Michigander, you know that you have to look below the surface to find its wonders.
This kind of has a deeper meaning than just to look at what's around you, because it might surprise you. "You never know what's behind a door till you open it." It's like, yeah, you don't know what a certain action could do, like admitting to somebody that you like them or something, but you never know what could happen until you open that door. Lately, I've had trouble with that: Trouble with living life to its fullest and doing what scares me, even if it could turn out bad. Thanks Tyler <3
so cool tyler ive seen one or two of the doors and never knew what they were or that theres a bunch of them! you've inspired me to stop daydreaming about were id rather be and find the rest : ) thanks
I'm a Michigander! :D I'm legit super excited that you do too. :D Also...did you find any of those quaint fairy doors in the Lansing area? 'Cause that's where I'm from!
Hey, fellow Michigander here. I am now seriously thinking about taking the hour long trip to Ann Arbor and looking for all the fairy doors. It's such a pretty and interesting concept, and I wish my town would do something like that.
As a person who doesn't care for traveling, I'm always on the lookout for new ways to enjoy the area I live in. Recently, that has been done by visiting a number of my small, local museums.(Still love my bigger institutions, but they don't need my patronage like the small ones do.) It has been a lot of fun and has given me a greater appreciation of docents.
thats great. it makes me think of when i was younger... i wish they did unique things like that where i'm from. it would make people take time to look at the small things instead of letting their life rush by while they are stressing over other things. this video made my night.. :)
Thank you so much for uploading this. It was absolutely beautiful and I think it's amazing that you have little subtle bits of magic sprinkled throughout your day to day life.
I was totally confused of "Wanderlust" xD. It's a german word composeed of wandern - to hike or to ramble and Lust - desire. I didn't know it's english too (:
But I'm not sure - Do you ever escape reality, or do you change it? If you don't, which I think, is there reality at all? Sure there is, but there is no difference in any way. I think it's rather experience or cognition
Tyler, what a great video! Curiosity and imagination create infinite surprises. I stumbled across one of those fairy doors when I made my first trip to Ann Arbor this past November. I'm pretty sure it was by 0:11. On Liberty..? I was eating at my uncle's restaurant, The Grange. (which is BY FAR the best food in the city! ) Any-who, I had to take a second look at the wall I was standing by to find the smallest door I'd ever seen. Truly wonderful street art. Sorry for the comment novel, GO BLUE!
This video really makes me want to go to Michigan more. I have serious Wanderlust, and it is the main reason I am only really looking at out of state colleges. I want to get out of here, and it seems as if college is the only answer. Hopefully I'll love Michigan State's campus and choose to go there in the fall. :)

Tyler, today I have learned my spring break trip through school to Egypt was cancelled because of the riots, and I was super bummed to be stuck in Edmonton during spring break yet again, but seeing this video has opened my eyes and now I have decided to explore Edmonton during that week :). Thank you for yet again inspiring me.
I have a fairy door in my front yard in a tree. I used to write to my fairy friend who I'm ashamed I can't remember the name of. I jumped up and down whenever she wrote back in her tiny, curly handwriting. All my friends had fairy friends as well. I would like to visit the fairy doors, write to my fairy friend and live my magical childhood all over again, were it possible. I wish it were.
Fucking love this! Tyler? Will you be my best friend? Please? You are so amazinly brilliant in everything you do and I love it! Thank you for making videos and inlightening people with your pure epicness! <3
And therein lies the beauty of the staycation. Next time you feel like you need a break, try approaching the town/city/whatever where you live as a visitor. You may be surprised at what you find in your own back yard! =]
I just moved away from my old quaint small town to the third largest city in my country and the next time I go home to visit my parents, I'll just explore the things I never was able to see in the past years. Thanks so much for inspiring me to do that.
I think about this video every once in a while. It's really soothing. And sweet.

At first I was sure of which town you were in - but maybe all MI towns look alike.. XD
