  • I think about this video every once in a while. It's really soothing. And sweet.

  • omg those are cool :D

  • I'm from Atlantic City, NJ; all I have are crack heads ._.

  • 0:37 A Link to the Past Link holding up the triforce! Also this was beautiful. :D

  • Beautiful. Thanks for reminding us of the wonderful things we encounter if we just take the time out to enjoy them.

  • This just makes me want to go to UMich even more! I've heard that Ann Arbor is an awesome city to live in. I'm really jealous I didn't grow up closer to AA.

  • this video made me smile :)

  • I have lived in Michigan my whole life, only about 20 min away from Ann Arbor, and have spent countless days visiting the city. I now attend the University of Michigan and live in the city, but even after all the time i have spent walking around campus I have never realized all it has to offer, and all the fairy doors. thank you for opening my eyes

  • DIDN'T even realize you live in Michigan. I live in Michigan. Why did I overlook this. Awh I'm so bad at things...

  • There's actually a fairy door in my house, complete with little construction tools. No one knows how it got there, crazy huh?

  • Beautiful, I wish my hometown was this crazy creative.

  • i think i found a new video to watch when i wanna escape from the world...

  • Those doors are seriously cute!!

  • like if you noticed the triforce by the one fairy door.

  • I love Ann Arbor. What a great town <3

  • Absolutely beautiful. Just lovely.

  • This video made me smile.

  • baby, baby, baby, i have seen a fairy door and a sexy man was behind it it was u that was me escaping reality but dammit ur gay

  • Still watching and loving this months later. :) You're really good at making funny videos, and fun things and vlogs, but when you make serious things like this? Oh my gosh, amazing. Well put together, very thoughtful and intelligant. Even though I think I spelled that wrong. Oh well. Anywho, I love all your videos, but ones like these are great every once in awhile. Keep it up. :)

  • ahh I haven't found that many fairy doors. I love our city of Ann Arbor ^~^

  • Yus peacible kingdom :D

    i like that place.

    W_0_0_t ...Ann arbor :D

  • fairy doors??! omg thats soo cute.... i wish we had these in my hometown.

    do they open??

  • True @carleyischuck, but it's not Michigander any more (because a gander is a male goose) it is Michiganian.

  • 0:37 MOTHERFUCKING TRIFORCE!

  • Your script is so beautifully written and said.

  • Have you ever considered being a writer?? Looking at this video as a short essay your WORDS even have your voice in them!! You're ideas are very clear and entertaining as well as thought provoking.

I also like your reading voice. :) Very gentle and B-E-A-U-T-iful!

  • I live in Lansing. Expect a visit soon! :D

  • My god, that was amazing!

  • this is amazing! Next time I got to AA (boo, GO GREEN) im going to hope to see a Fairy Door.

  • Nice video. Although I don't like Ann Arbor, more so, because of UofM, I appreciate the authenticity of this video.

    Go Green!! :-p

  • i love this! you should have made it up to kerrytown... though I know you were highlighting the fairy doors.

I forget during the school year how awesome it is to live in ann arbor

  • It makes me sad that this is one of your least watched videos. It's my favorite. Thank you for inspiring us. :)

  • I know this is really cliché but how can anyone dislike this, there is nothing really to dislike and if you are going to dislike and complain about the video then don't watch it, the world would be a lot better with out your pointless negative comments.

Sorry that just angered me. <3

  • OH GOSH THAT'S MY TOWN. :D

Ann Arbor = best city ever. I love our city!

  • That's awesome! I wish my town had something like that!

  • I feel like this goes against what you want with the contest. You say that its better to find the benefits of traveling in places near by and yet you want to travel. I'm not saying you don't deserve to win. I'm just questioning the contradiction.

  • @bandfag17 what town do you live in? that sounds fun!

  • I want to visit your town and see the fairy doors! I agree with JLCammack this town just made my bucket list. What town is it exactly?

  • My town has the name "bart" hidden Everywhere lol its fun to look - no one has found them all yet - and more get added all the time

  • @bandfag17 What town do you live in?

  • The one in that library, with the windows in the books! I'm sure that is many people's favorite.

I was to have these things in my future house, especially if I move into a very old house.

  • i wish my town had something like this. i live in staten island, and unless 4loko cans littering the street count as a "town tradition or secret", im pretty absent from these sorts of things....

  • YOU LIVE IN MY TOWN! WHY DID I NEVER REALIZE THIS???

  • This reminds me of thoughts from places! anyone? nerdfighters?

  • you're from ann ahbah?!

  • LOOOOVE THIS OMG

  • Almost cried it was amazing!

  • you never know whats behind a door unless you open it....or just closed it

  • This is my favorite video of all time.

  • Loved this : )

  • Ann Arbor Michigan woot woot

  • this sounds straight out of a "Thoughts From Places"/Vlogbrothers vid.

    MY FAVEY FAVES.

    Lovely!

  • This was a fantastic video, Tyler. Great job =)

  • HOW DID THIS NOT GO INTO MY SUBSCRIPTION BOX!? Tyler, I LOVE this video. Sorry for the obnoxious caps...I've been on youtube for like 5 years and have never typed in caps - thought I'd try something new today. =)

  • Wow I knew you was in Michigan before you even said but I just started watching your videos and I love you u so crazy girl lol much love and respect pro peace -cj

  • kind of a silly question...but are you in lansing (MSU) or in your actual for real hometown?

  • this place is now in my list.:')

  • A2 is a great town.

  • This was a great video. It tugged on my heart a little bit and I knew you were right, there are many many things to explore right in your own backyard. As someone who has recently moved very far from their hometown I feel it is especially important to explore and understand one's backyard, and even more importantly take joy and comfort from everything you find.

  • how beautiful

  • i was on the urban fairies website a while ago and then stumbled upon your vid, so i decided to come here and comment. I know to alot of people these doors could just be a wonderful distraction or a way of relaxing, but to the people of the website and to others, it is a reality that fairies exists and remember that we are only humans in this 3-dimensional realm. There's a whole universe out there, it's comical to think we're the only ones.

  • @AleshaMay10 ann arbor

  • I go to Michigan.

totally going to look for all those fairy doors tomorrow :D

    i love AA.

  • IDK why but the end of this video made me a little emotional. I think I'm missing being up north or just the old building. IDK but those little doors are a reminder that we need to take a deeper look at the wonder in our own areas and look past the negative. Thumbs up.

  • That is pretty damn cool!

  • I live in Michigan too! (:

Unfortunately, I've never saw any of those doors :/

  • To meet Tyler just made my bucket list. He's first on it.

  • :) Gotta love Downtown Ann Arbor :)

  • wow I love Michigan now just for having these and now i wanna go tour my City..I do enjoy getting out of the train in a new place I've never been before.

  • Its weird that I noticed this but I recognized that area. Dance2xs Michigan is having a show at a club called Necto down there (which is why I noticed it). You should come!

  • AA, possibly the best city to wander around in.

Detroit is the same, so many people think it's a dead city with nothing going on other than the obvious sporting events and concerts. If you are a true Michigander, you know that you have to look below the surface to find its wonders.

  • Lovely.

  • Ryan Doyle <3.

This is such a nice video, also!

  • omg i love those fairy doors, i love that city. thanks for posting im glad u found them

  • omg i love those fairy doors, i love that city

  • tyler! what a great video! and what a cool idea...so glad you shared it!

  • this is incredibly inspiring :)

  • This kind of has a deeper meaning than just to look at what's around you, because it might surprise you. "You never know what's behind a door till you open it." It's like, yeah, you don't know what a certain action could do, like admitting to somebody that you like them or something, but you never know what could happen until you open that door. Lately, I've had trouble with that: Trouble with living life to its fullest and doing what scares me, even if it could turn out bad. Thanks Tyler <3

  • those doors are like the most badass thing iv ever seen in a town.. i must go there. and find them. omg.

  • WOW! A terrific video. Very thought provoking. THANK YOU!!!

  • A2 Rocks!

  • I'm a Michigander! :D I'm legit super excited that you do too. :D Also...did you find any of those quaint fairy doors in the Lansing area? 'Cause that's where I'm from!

  • I love this! I'm proud to live in Michigan.

  • Amazing! Just simply Amazing!...Love It!

  • Michigan is so depressing..... freaky cold all the time... and Detroit... smell like ass....

  • i live in michigan.... but FARRRRR away from ann arbor :(

  • oh my god! ann arbor :D

you should do an AA meetup! just because you have tons of michigan fans... ♥

  • This gave me chills

  • Ann Arbor <3

  • Hey, fellow Michigander here. I am now seriously thinking about taking the hour long trip to Ann Arbor and looking for all the fairy doors. It's such a pretty and interesting concept, and I wish my town would do something like that.

  • As a person who doesn't care for traveling, I'm always on the lookout for new ways to enjoy the area I live in. Recently, that has been done by visiting a number of my small, local museums.(Still love my bigger institutions, but they don't need my patronage like the small ones do.) It has been a lot of fun and has given me a greater appreciation of docents.

    Nice video.

  • Do you live in Ann Arbor? I live in Plymouth, and that graffiti wall looks familiar. I really want to find these doors now.

  • What a wonderful video.. really inspiring.

  • An incredible video and a magical concept (fairy doors) - well done all around.

  • Omg you don't understand how happy this video made me :3 Best of luck in the "I Love Michigan" Contest, I hope you win :3

  • thats great. it makes me think of when i was younger... i wish they did unique things like that where i'm from. it would make people take time to look at the small things instead of letting their life rush by while they are stressing over other things. this video made my night.. :)

  • i love this !

  • Such a lovely video!

  • Waaw, why can't we have those fairy doors over here? The concept is truly amazing!

  • this was nice :]

  • That was soooo beautiful... I wish we had those Fairy doors here they are soooo cute

  • This town just made my Bucket List.

Truly an amazing video. Thank you, Tyler.

  • omg those fairy doors are the cutest things i have ever seen!!!

  • Your voice is so calming in this video... I was feeling kinda crappy today. Now I'm a bit happier. :)

  • That was beautiful, thanks Tyler. :)

  • Cool. I have enjoyed exploring my own country over the past few years.

When in Paris, we looked out for tiled aliens!

  • Great vid. Tyler. I didnt know I lived so close to you. Hoping some of the other MI towns do this...would be a cool thing to continue.

  • wow, that's too cool! and i love your commentary. very true. we always tend to overlook the small things as humans.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. It was absolutely beautiful and I think it's amazing that you have little subtle bits of magic sprinkled throughout your day to day life.

  • That was magical x]

  • I was totally confused of "Wanderlust" xD. It's a german word composeed of wandern - to hike or to ramble and Lust - desire. I didn't know it's english too (:

But I'm not sure - Do you ever escape reality, or do you change it? If you don't, which I think, is there reality at all? Sure there is, but there is no difference in any way. I think it's rather experience or cognition

  • OMG I LIVE IN THIS TOWN. GREAT VIDEO

  • Deep

  • An awesome look at the wonderful world around us. I love the concept of these fairy doors, strewn randomly across the city.

  • wow that was so deep and wonderfull that just made my hole week :)

  • Oh, wow. What a great concept, and great insights. Really great video; thank you!

  • I watch this everyday.

  • Tyler, what a great video! Curiosity and imagination create infinite surprises. I stumbled across one of those fairy doors when I made my first trip to Ann Arbor this past November. I'm pretty sure it was by 0:11. On Liberty..? I was eating at my uncle's restaurant, The Grange. (which is BY FAR the best food in the city! ) Any-who, I had to take a second look at the wall I was standing by to find the smallest door I'd ever seen. Truly wonderful street art. Sorry for the comment novel, GO BLUE!

  • i want to live behind the fairy doors! Thanks tyler for making me want to be a fairy :P

  • Wow, that was amazing. Bravo Tyler. Bravo!

  • That was the coolest :)

  • This video really makes me want to go to Michigan more. I have serious Wanderlust, and it is the main reason I am only really looking at out of state colleges. I want to get out of here, and it seems as if college is the only answer. Hopefully I'll love Michigan State's campus and choose to go there in the fall. :)

  • Where in Michigan are you? My family is from Ann Arbor!

  • There is much more on the urban-fairy fairy doors here at the urban-fairies website

  • My sister and I went a fairy-door safari once when I went up there to visit her, for this very reason. Bored as hell and wanting to go somewhere :) Cool video

  • This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing it.

It just makes me think of all the quirks I have missed out on seeing in my own town.

  • good point, but when your own city is freezing and you don't see the sun for weeks at a time you kinda still wanna get away.

also when the only person you wanna be with is really really really far away.

  • Where I live, they have painted statues of mermaids around the city!

(not as cool and unique as fairy doors, but still pretty fascinating!)

  • This was touching.

  • This is fantastic, Tyler.

Unfortunately it probably didn't have its desired effect on me. Now I just want to go to Michigan :P

    (Australian here)

  • love this video. i really wish ohio had fairy doors. but no. we get nothing.

  • omg fairy doors!

    I WANT THEM IN CHRISTCHURCH.

  • Your videos were always just a hit or miss for me so I never bothered to subscribe. I want to say that I am finally a subscriber because of this video. I've always had the same feelings about my wanderlust and your video accurately captured it.

  • Tyler, today I have learned my spring break trip through school to Egypt was cancelled because of the riots, and I was super bummed to be stuck in Edmonton during spring break yet again, but seeing this video has opened my eyes and now I have decided to explore Edmonton during that week :). Thank you for yet again inspiring me.

  • Michigan Pride right hereee :)

  • 2:11 is Detroit at every corner you turn at.

  • There is one by the fireplace in Nicola's Books. You missed that. I love seeing fairy doors.

  • I have a fairy door in my front yard in a tree. I used to write to my fairy friend who I'm ashamed I can't remember the name of. I jumped up and down whenever she wrote back in her tiny, curly handwriting. All my friends had fairy friends as well. I would like to visit the fairy doors, write to my fairy friend and live my magical childhood all over again, were it possible. I wish it were.

  • Awesome.

    Also, 0:37 = Link holding triforce <3

  • Fucking love this! Tyler? Will you be my best friend? Please? You are so amazinly brilliant in everything you do and I love it! Thank you for making videos and inlightening people with your pure epicness! <3

  • I got teary eyed.

  • beautiful. absolutely amazing. you are a truly amazing person, Tyler.

  • At first I was sure of which town you were in - but maybe all MI towns look alike.. XD

Reminds me of Owosso.. sadly I'm here in Eastpointe now..

  • Was that a Zelda triforce on the first door?! Navi probably lives there.

  • Another reason i love living in Michigan.

so creative. we live in a unique state.

    <3

    <3

  • And therein lies the beauty of the staycation. Next time you feel like you need a break, try approaching the town/city/whatever where you live as a visitor. You may be surprised at what you find in your own back yard! =]

  • Beautiful.

  • Where's the love button when you need it?

  • Wow, this video was really awesome. You should do more stuff like this. I really want to go walking around my neighborhood now.

  • OMFG MICHIGAN. you live in michigan!!!!! WHAT. i want to meet you....

  • I love this.

    Absolutely beautiful <3

  • This was so beautiful.

  • this is beautiful

  • You don't know how relevant this is to my life now. Or how beautiful this is. Thank you Tyler, you wonderful, insightful person.

  • I wish there were fairy doors on Elmwood

  • I just moved away from my old quaint small town to the third largest city in my country and the next time I go home to visit my parents, I'll just explore the things I never was able to see in the past years. Thanks so much for inspiring me to do that.
