the first episode I saw as a kid in the 70's was the episode Sue-Ellen passes out drunk behind the wheel of a Corvette. Does anybody know what episode that was?
I prefer the original ranch house. It was much grander and older, and looked like something that would have been built during the wildcatter era. The house they used for the rest of the series wasn't really all that grand or big.
exactly. the owners of the old ranch, wanted their home back, so they went to duncan acres (southfork) which was built in 1970 believe it or not. but the old ranch pictured here burned down sometime soon
The original first five episodes were just supposed to be a miniseries, so when it became a hit, the owners of the original no longer wanted any filming done there. For all intents and purposes, it was supposed to be the same house. Back when people didn't have Tivo, VCRs or DVD, it was easier to make people forget about the old house.

You clearly hear how the style of the theme tune changes when comparing this to the 13th season of early 90s.

the 2nd southfork ranch looked better.

That is because we are more accustomed to that one. The one in the pilot season was actually much bigger.

My guess is, since DALLAS was first a mini-series, when they found out that the series would fully go forth, they used another ranch

Illogic that there were no explanation that later a new Southfork ranch was used.
