and yes Serena was overall the best player in the worst generation in womens tennis history. Congratulations. In history she is 10th or lower with 13 slams but only 37 tournament titles. And at 29 and now with a bad injury her career is pretty much over now so that is where her accomplishments will stand, maybe 1 final lucky slam if she is lucky enough. She will never be anywhere near the echelon of greats like Graf, Navratilova, Evert, or Court.
@russianskatingfan Slams matter baby, they matter. What has Clijsters won besides The Us. You're talking like she was a dominant player before her retirement. Remember all her chokes in Gs, yes she is great, never said the contrary but one of all-time greats? no
ew years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me
Serena Williams, at her BEST, is simply totally UNSTOPPABLE!! Venus is virtually unbeatable on Grass, yet Serena can conquer Venus on Grass!! It's like Federer beating Nadal on clay in Paris! (Fed has yet to BEAT Nadal in Paris Open, so that's my point!) Serena hasn't yet won the number of Slams as Navratilova or Graaf, but there's no doubt in my mind these ladies at their best still wouldn't be able to BEAT Serena at her best. Serena's not yet the GREATEST, but she is the BEST Ever!
Peter Bodo's comments about Jankovic knows how to entertain more then Serena is offensive. Serena is the best female tennis champion of her generation and she DESERVES RESPECT. Bodo has always had an axe to grind against the Williams Sisters because the best female players this decade are Black Women not white Women. The Williams Sisters raised the bar in Women's Tennis. The other women are just trying to catch up.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You've got it spot on. What always amazes me as a non-American is the fact that so much negativity directed towards the sisters comes from their own countrymen! I mean, aside from the two of them in the top-ten in the world, what other female American tennis players even figure on the tour?
ROTFL keep dreaming. Kim Clijsters exposed both Serena and the current womens tour for the complete piece of shit it now is. Clijsters is Henin's bitch always has been. Yet Clijsters in only her 3rd event back in almost 3 years spanks Serena. Imagine what Justine would still be doing to Serena had she stayed.
@selesfan30 Justine got whooped by Serena this year in the Australian Open Final..Clijsters was basically given that US Open title Serena was called for a foot fault when you clearly can see her foot wasn't on the line. Serena would have won but she lost her cool, because through all of her matches at the US Open they were calling foot faults against her.
@johnsom32 Idiot. Serena was totally outplayed by Kim in that U.S Open match. She was about to lose anyway and the point penalty just made it happen a minute sooner. And she is lucky she wasnt banned from tennis for a year for that disagraceful act. And Henin in her 2nd event back from a 2 year retirement and not even playing took Serena to 3 sets.in the Australian Open final, some whooping, not, the U.S Open semis with Kim was a whooping though.
@russianskatingfan your the idiot because in the second set it was 15-30 when they kept calling serena for a foot fault and that put kim up 15-40 and then she lost her cool after so stfu
@johnsom32 Yeah she was down a set, down in score in the 2nd, and down on her serve serving to stay in the match, and had been trailing almost the whole match. Just like I said about to lose the match. You have some nerve trying to make excuses for Serenas U.S Open loss, when in fact she was lucky as heck to not be suspended from atleast the next slam in Australia for her disgraceful act. Now go stick your head back up Serenas ass.
@russianskatingfan i watch kim and serena been doing it over the past 10 years kim's game isn't that great it's average i been watching kim play before she retired and after it's the same she lost to vera twice before the us open and she won that because vera isn't mentally tough idiot and serena wasn't the only one that had and out burst like that johnny did too so know it before you speak thank you have a nice day
@johnsom32 Well average Kim was playing better tennis then Serena that day. That is why Serena was trailing and about to lose the match before her outburst. Her double fault already had her down double match point trailing 6-4, 6-5, 15-40 so spin it how you want but she lost that day. End of story. As for John McEnroe even he never threatened to kill a line judge.
@russianskatingfan Has Clijsters won sthg other than the US? you made my day, i was laughing too much over your joke, Serena and Clijsters equal? haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaha
@kevin12061989 Who said Serena and Clijsters had equal careers. If you are talking about now though Clijsters since her comeback has done as well or better than Serena. 2 slams for both, 1 WTA Championship for both, more titles for Kim. Shows what an easy ride Serena had while Justine and Kim retired early that a just back from retirement mom who as you said has only a few slams in her career now is outperforming Serena since her comeback.
@russianskatingfan Why are changing the subject to Navratilova and others? Who told you she was better than them? You seem to be a person who can't argue and talks about sthg totally different from the main subject to not make yourself irrelevant. She is not better than Navratilova, Graf, Evert or Court, never claimed to be but SHE IS BETTER than those two begian who are quitters because they didn't have the guts to tough it out like her in the grinding tour
@russianskatingfan And honey you're really kidding me when you say that Serena Jameka was about to lose the match in Us 09. Yes Kim TOTALLY deserved the match but are you really doubting Serena's from-the-brink-comebacks? Do you really want me to list you all the matches she won after being down because of her incredible mental strenghth ( not even close to Clijsters' famous headcaseness)? you're really making me laugh, leave it alone, you'll never prove that Clijsters is as great as serena
@kevin12061989 I never said Kim was better than Serena idiot, I said she kicked Serenas ass at the 2009 U.S Open which of course she did. Only you bitter Serena fanatics try to deny this and argue such stupid things as Serena only lost since she was defaulted the last point, LOL! And she is lucky that is all she got, for her disgraceful outburst she is lucky she wasnt suspended for a year.
@johnsom32 what he did was just as bad he broke his raquet and used the f bomb so he was disqualified and fined just like serena...and anyone could see serena wasn't moving that well
Kim Clijsters exposed what a lucky free ride Serena has gotten ever since Henin shockingly retired. Her wins have come by complete default with the best women player in the World of the last 5-6 years (Justine) retiring, Maria injured, everyone decent injured, washed up or retired and a bunch of mediocrities and headcases choking away match after match vs her. Serena would have fewer slams than Justine for her career now had Justine continued.
@selesfan30 yeah but justine didn't continue playing. You can't speculate all the time, you have to look at the facts. The facts are that SERENA has more slams, not justine, and that's how the history books will read.
@serenafan88 Serena does well winning slams but her career falls far short in many other areas. Only 37 tour titles, less than Davenport and Clijsters. That is crazy for a player of her caliber. And that huge hole in the middle of her career with only 2 slams in 5 years. And even in slam titles she will be hard pressed to even reach Martina and Chris considering she is nearing 30 let alone Court and Graf.
I respectfully, wholeheartedly disagree. Not only did you have Venus and Serena to contend with, you had the likes of a pre-injury Sharapova, Dementieva, Wozniacki, Safina, Ivanovic, Kuznetsova. The only time Justine won anything other than the French were: 2004 & 2007 US Open and the 2004 Aussie. SHe wasn't exactly dominating the slams like other tourneys.
@akademikn3rd82 those players are pushovers for any great. Dementieva the slamless choker with no serve, no net game, no variety, and no brain. Wozniacki the pusher and her 5 winners a match. Safina the clown who is 0-2 vs a 40 year old Date. Ivanovic the flash in the pan. Kuznetsova the headcase. Clown brigade. And you are mocking Henin for winning only 3 non Frenchs when that is the same # as those 5 combined won in all the slams, and triple what they won combined outside of the French.
Serena was going to be surpassed by Henin as the best of her generation and would have been already if Justine didnt retire. At the end of 2007 Justine was up to 7 slams and had won 5 in the last 4 years. Serena was at 8 but had won only 2 in the last 4 years, often stopped by Justine. Serena should thank Justine for retiring since Justine was better than her since mid 2003 and would have surpassed her career had she kept playing. Serena hasnt won a slam since 2003 with Justine in the field.
@beckerbombs Actually Serena won the Australian Open 2005, 2007,&2010 with Justine there. Justine game is weak compared to everyone elses, she is trying to play a big tennis game when she is so small which she is losing so often.
@johnsom32 Fail. Henin was not at th 2005 or 2007 Australian Open. Serena actually didnt win a slam after 2003 Wimbledon that Henin entered until Henin retired in 2008, LOL
@russianskatingfan And what about Henin's wins in us open 2003 and Australian open 2004 when Serena was the dominant champion. Serena is CLEARLY the best of her generation and what about Clijsters? apart those ridiculous three titles, what has she accomplished? She's the most overrated player ever
@kevin12061989 Serena didnt win a slam with Henin even in the draw after Wimbledon 2003 until after Henin's retirement in 2008. Lucky for Serena that Henin skipped the 2005 and 2007 Australian Opens which were her only 2 slams won during the 5 year Henin reign.
@russianskatingfan you're talking about the 2005 australian open, Henin wasn't dominant that year and only won clay tournaments. So your talk about the 2005 aussie is just blah blah and whining like the others Gs. History remembers she won all of them, all four and doesn't remember all your ridiculous details. Wasn't Kim thrashed everytime when Serena dominated in early 2000's? NO WONDER she leads the head to head 7-2. legacy isn't about one year but about consistency over time
@kevin12061989 Henin was still better than Serena in 2005. She was better than Serena the entire 2004-2007 period even when both played, so Serena was lucky that Henin missed both the slams she won. In addition to being lucky Henin retired while she had been dominating the womens game. Serena cant even dominate since Henin retired either, winning about 2 events a year and letting losers like Safina and Jankovic be #1.
their head to head: serena - henin, they meet 14 times, 8/6 for serena. Venus H to H with henin, they meet 9 times, 7/2 for Venus.
