Kim Clijsters exposed what a lucky free ride Serena has gotten ever since Henin shockingly retired. Her wins have come by complete default with the best women player in the World of the last 5-6 years (Justine) retiring, Maria injured, everyone decent injured, washed up or retired and a bunch of mediocrities and headcases choking away match after match vs her. Serena would have fewer slams than Justine for her career now had Justine continued.

And that huge hole in the middle of her career with only 2 slams in 5 years. And even in slam titles she will be hard pressed to even reach Martina and Chris considering she is nearing 30 let alone Court and Graf.

The only time Justine won anything other than the French were: 2004 & 2007 US Open and the 2004 Aussie. SHe wasn't exactly dominating the slams like other tourneys.

Serena was going to be surpassed by Henin as the best of her generation and would have been already if Justine didnt retire. At the end of 2007 Justine was up to 7 slams and had won 5 in the last 4 years. Serena was at 8 but had won only 2 in the last 4 years, often stopped by Justine. Serena should thank Justine for retiring since Justine was better than her since mid 2003 and would have surpassed her career had she kept playing. Serena hasnt won a slam since 2003 with Justine in the field.

In addition to being lucky Henin retired while she had been dominating the womens game. Serena cant even dominate since Henin retired either, winning about 2 events a year and letting losers like Safina and Jankovic be #1.
