  • Is the guitar tuned to open G?

  • @kevkraft Thank you for your question. Yes, you are correct. DGDgbd low to high. Enjoy.

  • Awesome stuff. Thumbs up from 'the land down under'! Where can I get the tab for this song? Also do you like or rate our Aussie "bluesmen" Tommy Emmanuel and Dave Hole. Cheers.

  • @bigredmudcrab Thank you for your comment and greetings. If you are interested in lessons, please check out my instructional video lessons on ebay by searching: keni lee. I ship internationally. CD2 will help you explore open G tuning. I mainly listen to 1920/30s recording. There are certainly many fine contempory Blues players. The great thing about music is, if you like it, it is simply the best. Enjoy.

Yes, there is a lot of information on those CDs for a very reasonable price. Stay in touch and ask questions. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing what you discover. Happy Holidays. Enjoy.

  • what kind of guitars are best for playing the blues? all i have is a strat i dont wanna buy anothet guirar for a while (especially since im buying a fretless banjo soon)....could i play these wonderfully soulful tunes on a stratocaster?

  • Thank you for your comment. Yes you can play this on a Strat. Traditionally this early style was played acoustically, but for instance, when Muddy Waters went from Mississippi to Chicago, he became an electric guitar player. Usually this Chicago style consists of band arrangements. Listen to Elmore James. Depending on the tuning, you may need to put heavier strings on your guitar to provide the proper string tension for the slide. The action does not need to be higher. Enjoy.

  • Awesome playing and tone I really loved that! SWEET. Do you know how heavy that one is in pounds? Awesome reso.

  • Thank you. I'm not that good at judging weight, but it is certainly heavier than my other resonators. It is also one of the loudest resonator I've ever owned. I assume it is due to the sturdiness of the heavy gauge steel that no sound gets absorbed by the body and goes straight out the cone. Enjoy.

  • you pick a mean blues tune man

  • Thank you for the kind words. Enjoy.

  • I enjoyed your blues. Thanks for posting.

  • Well, I'm not as good as Clapton lol, but thank you for such a nice compliment. Enjoy. Happy Holidays!

  • Great job again Kenny. I also play this on Dobro but my favorite version ever is Buddy Guy's.

  • Thank you. I don't think I've ever heard Buddy Guy's version. I will have to check it out. Enjoy.

  • I like it ! Nice feeeling ! If you don´t like this, you have a hole in your soul ;-)

  • Thank you. Maybe we can all work together to help patch those holes. Lord knows, I've had a few myself. Enjoy.

  • im diggin it man, we gotta keep the delta blues music alive!!! good job mayne =]

  • Thank you.

  • oh wow, there is nothing better then a beautifully played blues song. my hat of to you. enjoyed that very much!

  • Thank you for the kind words.

  • This is one hellavu song to figure out Kenni. Ya done good.

  • Thank you. It is good to hear from you my old friend. Just keep at it. If you don't figure it out, I know the practice will help you create your own arrangement.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you. I do not try to play exact versions of any song. I enjoy listening to the original, and searching the fingerboard to discover how I can make my own arrangement. Actually, Bob Brozman taught me the basic parts of this song at a seminar, and thru the years as I learned new ideas, I changed the arrangement. Compare Muddy's later Chicago sound I Can't Be Satisfied with the original, I Be Troubled he recorded on the Plantation for Alan Lomax. They both have a totally different feel.

  • FANTASTIC!! I love your playing!

  • Thank you for the kind words.

  • I looked up Muddy Waters and saw your name in the results. Lucky me! I just love your recordings.

    Thank you.

  • Amazing job on this one... love this song and love your playing!

  • Thank you for the kind words. If you are enjoying my videos, please consider purchasing my CD, Good & Evil that is available for sale on ebay. Just search: Keni Lee Thanks again.

  • my favorite out of your killer solo pieces.

Learning this song is now a serious goal of mine.

  • Thank you. I really like playing this song. When I first learned it many years ago, I played it in a very simple format. Over the years, I used different inversions of the chords to give me new ideas. I keep trying to fill in the holes, and play the licks in different ways. The more you play in Open G, the more you learn from different songs. It is just a matter of stealing from one song, and altering it for another. Waste nothing. Recycle everything.

  • There should be more than 5 stars! it's incredible!

  • Thank you for the kind words.

  • fuckin nice

  • Thank you. Please visit my page. Click on "Playlists". I recently organized the videos.

  • I'd find it so hard to sing and play amazingly simultaneously. You're awesome dude!

  • Thank you. I agree, singing and playing at the same time gets a little tricky. I find that learning the lyrics well makes it a whole lot easier. So, I spend a lot of my day just singing without the guitar.

  • By the way, do you have any tabs for this? I got a great a Guitar Pro version, but it doesn't have all those bass and other parts in it.

  • Thank you. I'm sorry but unfortunately, I haven't had the time to tab out this song. I'm having trouble just getting the tab done for the series 2 lessons. Please stay tuned. I'm planning to teach this song in the future. Thanks again.

  • Amazing! Great slide work and everything!

  • Thank you. Please consider buying my new CD, Good & Evil that is available thru Ebay. Just search: Keni Lee

  • WONDERFUL!

    YOU BLUES!

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • Very nicely done! I was inspired to finally register at YTube so I could give you a 5 rating on the performance. Better lighting in the video would nice.

  • Thank you. Lighting is a problem. Since this video, I use a lot more light in my videos, but unfortunately when the video is compressed from .avi to .divx to meet size requirements, there is a considerable amount of light lost. Hey, I'm just a simple blues player, and now I have to learn how to be a film crew. lol.

  • Very cool! Sounds like two or three guitars playing!

  • Thank you. Ya that's the magic of playing two lines of music at once.

  • Your guitar skills are great! I'm very impressed (I like your other clips as well)

My only critique is that when you sing, you enunciate the words very crisply where it seems to me as if the blues slurs them out a bit more ("Trou-ble" vs "Trubbah")

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful piece. Just what I needed.

    regards

  • Thank you.

  • Really nice playing bro,compliments.

  • Thank you.

  • Very beautiful.

    I saw all your clips.

A great performance that gives me

a lot of work now .5 stars and thank you very much.

  • Thank you. I just finished Lesson 2B. I'll post it later today or tomorrow. Stay tuned.

  • YES!!!! Nuff said!!!!

  • Thank you. Please check out my other videos.

  • How are you not famous yet? fucking current trends..people know nothing of great talents like yourself because they fill their heads with nonsense

  • Thank you. Well that show biz! Have you seen Bob Brozman's videos. He is great, but chances are you will see very little of him on main stream media. It is just like McDonald's. How many burgers have they sold? The only good thing I can say, is that they are cheap. Not good, just cheap.

  • If I could play half as well as you do , Id frame a pic of myself and pray to it everyday !!

That was inspiring and very well played !

    Thanks

  • Thank you. You are going over the top, but thanks. I learned to play bottleneck mainly from Bob Brozman. He gives great seminars and teaches a lot of material that helps you teach yourself. If you get a chance, go and study with him. Just remember to work on your tempo and tone, then even a simple song will sound great.

  • indeed he should

  • Thank you. I would like a million views, but I am happy with all the great support I've received from all the viewers.

  • You should have a million views

  • Thank you. I feel this is the best song I put up on youtube so far.

  • man great playing!

  • Thank you.

  • I'm subscribed man. Give me some more!

  • Thank you. Maybe you should put Gov't Mule's video after my video on your page. I would love to be their warm up, but that would be a tough act to follow! Stay tuned.

  • Really nice! THanks for your version of this great song.

  • Thank you. I feel it is the best one I put up on Youtube so far.

  • Thank you. As you know, this is my take on Muddy's tune. My version has a very even tempo like a country dance tune. I lived in Texas for three years and so my Delta Blues got mixed with old school banjo.

  • This style comes a bit easier for you.... Like both of em

  • brilliant stuff,i love the slide players on youtube and you are one of coolest

  • Thanks alot. I got to get my butt in gear and do some more videos.

  • Great stuff Keni. Love that old Muddy Waters stuff. Miss the dogs, though.

  • Thank you. The smaller dog was just visiting for the week. The larger dog is mine. He lived in a shelter before I found him. He understands the blues.

  • Thank you. A good wood floor and a hard heel boot would be a good addition too.

  • Excellent slide. The blues are the best. No need for a drum or a bass. Just a guitar and a bottleneck.

  • Great feeling, great sound and excellent performance! Bravo Kenio, simply one of the most authentic sounding period pieces. That guitar has a gorgeous sound.

  • Thank you. This guitar is one of Don Young's early Duolian reproductions. He used heavy steel and the neck is thick and chunky. It is the loudest guitar I own.

  • thats a hard song man! very good! :)

  • Thanks for your comment. Early Muddy is my favorite. I love the plantation sessions. Fresh and raw!

  • awesome!

  • Thank you
