What you are calling 'plastic washers' are actually called bushings. I also notice
you had to notch your frame to make room for the tie rods. Couldn't you have avoided this by putting the spindle brackets lower or higher? And, when you tell people to tighten the spindle nuts, you ought to say something about leaving enough clearance so the axles can turn. You gotta get a little more technical here little dude!
@TheComputerDewd I have done this now. I made the column from 20mm tube and bought some 20mm purpous made plasitic bushes that have a mounting point at the bottom. I have some locking collars to stop it sliding up/down. remove the steering wheel, undo the lock collars and tie rods and out it comes.
I think it's funny that it's the voice of a kid but a grown mans hand that's doing the work. not trolling I have much love for the father helping his son build a go kart. I hope you have fun driving !
@6Kurrency9 Haha. He did all the welding and i did everything else, and thanks! it is really fun, also i got a camera mount for my helmet so i can make a on-board vid of me driving it.
@yoo8151 it is very easy to buy your stuff off the internet and weld it on it takes some one with brains to make one! thats why i build my own. loo at my other comment for more

@DobsQc Yes, of course!

@DobsQc Yes, you would be able to, but then make sure your trackrod ends move enough for the suspension to be max in and max out.
