but i would recomend a locked diff. and MABY lower gear ratios like 3:73... it will definitly make your car take off faster, and the locked diff will eliminate the "1 wheel wonder" affect of an open diff...however, it will hurn handling...but who cares not like we are hard core need for speed street racers haha

@videowatcher93 probably not, your engine would make Max torque probably at around 3500rpm and max Hp at about 4500 rpm. tho 5000rpms would probably be the best place to shift

@ishallkil its because when they advertise it, they are using the engine HP numbers, not RWHP or Rear Wheel Horsepower, which is what is actually getting applied to the pavement. They came with 210HP stock, so when they dyno'd it in the first vid, it was putting down 160 to the wheels. So, 40HP with nothing more than a CAI, Tune, and exhaust is pretty solid imo. Don't forget, we are talking about a V6 here, not a V8.
@Alejandro4774 About 17% of a cars horsepower is lost through the drivetrain. Now I know 159 is more than a 17% loss from 210, so I do wonder about the dyno they used, especially because I know stock v6's usually show better numbers on the dyno.

Why do you think AM made this video. Most people who buy them these days dont buy them to race. They buy them because of the look and feel of the car when you drive. Not everyone feels the need to go 100 mph in their mustang. I dont care whether a mustang is a V6 or V8 I like all mustangs.

When you have kids, a house, insurance, and several other bills and want a mustang, a V6 can save you alot of money. Then people can slowly upgrade their V6 to how they want it by adding mods. I have a 2004 3.9 V6 in dark shadow gray. Dual straight pipe Flowmasters, Mach 1 grill delete kit, Mach 1 chin spoiler, 8 inch shorty antenna, dark smoked head/tail lights, staggered with 17x8(front) and 17x10.5(rear, huge 315 tires) chrome deep dish bullit wheels, all purchased from American Muscle. I think my car looks beautiful and the power mods are to come. I wouldn't do the 3mm stick on scoops and stuff though. I'm going for the classy/muscle look and want everything to be funcional also.
@GarrettBirch I personally would much rather do a turbo kit instead but it's all about what you want. I've heard very good things and seem some amazing numbers with the turbo V6's. My mustang is my daily driver though and idk how comfortable I would feel riding about everyday with a nitrous tank.

Automatics usually lose 20% of engine HP at the wheels. Stock HP for the 05 V6 is 210HP. So, in reality, you should be getting 170 or so HP at the wheels. I figured they'd get 25-30HP boost from the simple bolt-ons they did, and that's what I'd expect to get if I did them.
@DaiTheFlu84 25-30 hp gain is much more reasonable. And 170 is more reasonable for an auto. So basically yeah the estimated power it should have is where it should be, but the gain isn't as much as claimed IMO. It's easy to get lower dyno numbers and then to push it a little harder on the dyno after the mods are done ya know? We're kind of saying the same thing.
@ROWB0AT I hear ya, man. They may have sandbagged it a little bit, but every performance manufacturer does that. Look up aftermarket coils or spark plug wires; most manufacturers claim that buying and installing those will each boost HP by 7-10 HP, which is pure bullshit. Unfortunately, they all get away with it. According to manufacturer specs, the Air Raid CAI and Magnaflow catback I have "should" boost the HP on my 2007 Mustang by 25-30 HP, but I'm lucky to get 15 with a stock tune.
the car only has 160 horse stock? thats pathetic. even with the tunes, bolt ons, exhaust and nos my old gt is still toping it by like 40 horse. the main reason i got the gt instead is mainly because of the snarling v8 you cant reproduce with a v6 no matter how hard you try and the fact that you don't really get better mpg with 6. from owning a 06 GT to a 07 shelby GT. trust me power in a v8 is everything. I agree I own a 6er...and its not a modders mustang by any stretch... unfortunately Ive never been a 4.6 fan either. never trusted the aluminum blocks...much rather trade the engine and transmission up from my T5/4.0 for a 5.4/T56... Probably going to end up with a 5.4 4v out from a Lincoln Nav, and get the T56 (TR6060) from Promotion Power-train. Then from there we'll see what next when I cross that bridge...might go compound...might go TT...don't know yet.

the V6 is like $8000 cheaper than the V8. You could buy a full turbo kit for $4000 and have the same HP or more than a V8 and you would still have $4000 left over to do more mods to the engine. You could easily make a V6 just as fast as a V8 and it would be cheaper to insure and get better gas mileage and be one of a kind.

So bad that a v6 camry smokes it and the mustangs supposed to be a muscle car. It also gets real bad gas milage for the lack of power. Personally I drive an 02 5speed Lexus IS300 basically stock. My mom has an 07 camry xle V6 and my dad has a 02 Camry V6 SE, and we like the acceleration of our 6's

@UT199109 You loose HP through the tranny. More in Automatic (about 22%) , less in the manual ( around 18% loss) . So 300HP Mustang GT has about 248HP at the wheels. 159RWHP for 05+ Mustang V6 does seem a little low. I've seen stock V6s making about 165-170 RWHP, so yeah...

I got my daughter one, picked up shorty headers on ebay $57.00, got X-pipe from pipes for $100.00, went to Craigslist got complete GT exhaust w/ mufflers for $50.00, an 8.8 3:55 posi for $375.00. cold air kit. It sounds great ( better that my stock GT) Runs great, gets 29 miles per gallon, and she runs 14.7's all day long at the drag strip.

this mustang makes 210hp at the crank, and 160hp at the wheels. ( theres a loss of power through the drive train)
so after mods this car is making 200hp at the wheels, and about 260 at the crank

@ishallkil its because when they advertise it, they are using the engine HP numbers, not RWHP or Rear Wheel Horsepower, which is what is actually getting applied to the pavement. They came with 210HP stock, so when they dyno'd it in the first vid, it was putting down 160 to the wheels. So, 40HP with nothing more than a CAI, Tune, and exhaust is pretty solid imo. Don't forget, we are talking about a V6 here, not a V8.

Anyone who bashes V6 mustangs are idiots. More V6 mustangs are being sold at dealerships than V8. Why do you think company's are continuing to come out with so many V6 mods. Why do you think AM made this video. Most people who buy them these days dont buy them to race. They buy them because of the look and feel of the car when you drive. Not everyone feels the need to go 100 mph in their mustang. I dont care whether a mustang is a V6 or V8 I like all mustangs.

@McFaddenjohn1 Your wrong, the reason more V6 are sold is they are about 6000-8000$ less than V8. When the monthy payment comes in the mail you can pay 215 or less a month for a V6 and 320+ for a V8. When you have kids, a house, insurance, and several other bills and want a mustang, a V6 can save you alot of money. Then people can slowly upgrade their V6 to how they want it by adding mods. I have no clue why people disrespect other people just because they mod their V6 mustangs.

I have a 2004 3.9 V6 in dark shadow gray. Dual straight pipe Flowmasters, Mach 1 grill delete kit, Mach 1 chin spoiler, 8 inch shorty antenna, dark smoked head/tail lights, staggered with 17x8(front) and 17x10.5(rear, huge 315 tires) chrome deep dish bullit wheels, all purchased from American Muscle. I think my car looks beautiful and the power mods are to come. I wouldn't do the 3mm stick on scoops and stuff though. I'm going for the classy/muscle look and want everything to be funcional also.

The 160 is rwhp. Overall stock, it's 210 hp for an 05 v6. I believe it was 210 hp up to 2010. Not bad of an increase if you ask me.

Automatics usually lose 20% of engine HP at the wheels. Stock HP for the 05 V6 is 210HP. So, in reality, you should be getting 170 or so HP at the wheels. I figured they'd get 25-30HP boost from the simple bolt-ons they did, and that's what I'd expect to get if I did them.

So basically yeah the estimated power it should have is where it should be, but the gain isn't as much as claimed IMO. It's easy to get lower dyno numbers and then to push it a little harder on the dyno after the mods are done ya know? We're kind of saying the same thing.

@ROWB0AT I hear ya, man. They may have sandbagged it a little bit, but every performance manufacturer does that. Look up aftermarket coils or spark plug wires; most manufacturers claim that buying and installing those will each boost HP by 7-10 HP, which is pure bullshit. Unfortunately, they all get away with it. According to manufacturer specs, the Air Raid CAI and Magnaflow catback I have "should" boost the HP on my 2007 Mustang by 25-30 HP, but I'm lucky to get 15 with a stock tune.

the car only has 160 horse stock? thats pathetic. even with the tunes, bolt ons, exhaust and nos my old gt is still toping it by like 40 horse. the main reason i got the gt instead is mainly because of the snarling v8 you cant reproduce with a v6 no matter how hard you try and the fact that you don't really get better mpg with 6. from owning a 06 GT to a 07 shelby GT. trust me power in a v8 is everything. I agree I own a 6er...and its not a modders mustang by any stretch... unfortunately Ive never been a 4.6 fan either. never trusted the aluminum blocks...much rather trade the engine and transmission up from my T5/4.0 for a 5.4/T56... Probably going to end up with a 5.4 4v out from a Lincoln Nav, and get the T56 (TR6060) from Promotion Power-train. Then from there we'll see what next when I cross that bridge...might go compound...might go TT...don't know yet.

the V6 is like $8000 cheaper than the V8. You could buy a full turbo kit for $4000 and have the same HP or more than a V8 and you would still have $4000 left over to do more mods to the engine. You could easily make a V6 just as fast as a V8 and it would be cheaper to insure and get better gas mileage and be one of a kind.

So bad that a v6 camry smokes it and the mustangs supposed to be a muscle car. It also gets real bad gas milage for the lack of power. Personally I drive an 02 5speed Lexus IS300 basically stock. My mom has an 07 camry xle V6 and my dad has a 02 Camry V6 SE, and we like the acceleration of our 6's

@UT199109 You loose HP through the tranny. More in Automatic (about 22%) , less in the manual ( around 18% loss) . So 300HP Mustang GT has about 248HP at the wheels. 159RWHP for 05+ Mustang V6 does seem a little low. I've seen stock V6s making about 165-170 RWHP, so yeah...

I got my daughter one, picked up shorty headers on ebay $57.00, got X-pipe from pipes for $100.00, went to Craigslist got complete GT exhaust w/ mufflers for $50.00, an 8.8 3:55 posi for $375.00. cold air kit. It sounds great ( better that my stock GT) Runs great, gets 29 miles per gallon, and she runs 14.7's all day long at the drag strip.

amazing car guys i realy love it, the legend lime green is unique only scene one of them around cherry hill NJ and surrounding areas since the S197s were released, would of been pretty cool if you guys upgraded the gears 3.73 or 4.10s which ever you prefer with a traction-Lok, wouldnt of helped power wise but would help it down at the strip and with acceleration.
