  • If you did not live to experince the time when these guys were making their hit records it will be hard to explain the power their music had.

  • real music ,not the garbage you hear today

  • Sex,drugs, rock n roll, wine, women, song there is nothing new under the sun. SOLOMON

  • Chicks from the mid-sixtes. They were a special breed. Being a teen guy and hooking up with the right one was special, even for a lifetime. Just follow the Byrds dude, and that someone would come your way. Widow now, but that really did happen.

  • @Rumble625 Yes I agree the 60s was a great time and Im glad I was part of it

  • :)

  • finally! no lip sinking!

  • 1:06 can someone teach me to dance like that?

  • Great song, but "So you wanna be a rock'n'roll star" is my favourite

    Byrds-song :)

    Scandinavian Singers (talent channel)

  • @ScandinavianSingers I perfer Chimes Of Freedom

  • i love this song--

don't want to know how the blonde applause girl on 2:20 looks nowalive :D

but in the the 60's she was pretty sweet :))

  • i love Chris's guitar!!:)

  • The first time I saw the Byrds was at a small informal event, at a catering hall called the Carolina Pines, off Beverly Blvd in Hollywood. It was a small party/event. I was a senior high school. This was 1965, sometime in May. I remember how different they sounded. I had never hear 12 string guitars before. I was mostly into jazz and classical music and didn't pay a lot a attention to them.Bbut, i liked them. in was only a few years latter when i realized i they were the Byrds.

  • I agree the Byrds don't touch the Beatles...or the Stones but they do beat Manfred Mann, the Yardbird, and the Hollies for crying out loud!

  • The Byrds didn't even come close to touching The Beatles. British Invasion... America Fights Back! I think England won that war. I mean come on not only The Beatles, but The Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Animals, Manfred Mann, The Yardbirds, and The Hollies, etc.

  • @SgtPepper9537 There was not a war. The Byrds which was a great band was good. It did not matter if you think the british bands were better. But look at other bands also.

  • @SgtPepper9537 thats because the group broke up very early. perhaps youve heard of a little project called crosby stills nash and young. theyre still not the beatles but give credit where credit is due.

  • People just don't chair dance with quite the same panache anymore...

  • yes those girls are all in their 60s!...and i m a lucky one of them... twist and shout! what an era...peace.

  • it just puts a huge smile on my face! thank you guys...a grandma fan...

  • I would kill for that Rick.....

  • The screaming fans should be sent for psychiatric therapy. You must be severely malnourished personality-wise to scream for singers and their songs. That's the western world leading the rest toward personality-retardation. (though not everything western is bad)

Anyway, I long the song and the style.

  • Take your Freudian psychobabble & go hide under a rock.

This video is a wonderful snapshot of time, capturing the pop music scene of mid-1965. The teenage behavior of these UK youngsters is completly correct for the era. If you knew modern history, you'd realize that during this 1965 timeframe, adoring teenagers screamed (naturally)in utter joy in seeing their pop star idols perform.

So stop overanalyzing snapshots of classic pop culture history, such as this timeless live Byrds performance.

  • @according2ed

They are kids having FUN! Their personalities were just great! And the West is leading the world...to liberal democracy...and FUN! Get a grip.

  • @15rounder

    And that is funny...why?

  • The Young David Crosby. My word!

  • I'm 50 and I'm still trying to find sun glasses like McGuinn is wearing. Where can I get them!?

  • lol boot leg beatles lol

  • 1:05 - 1:08 Has to be a distant relative of Elaine from Seinfeld. What the Hell kind of dance is THAT?!!?

  • you are the entertainer my day is your market. another day another dollar i'll make your market. close but no cigar? finally- throw in some fish under the bridge. life is an irritable market and then you die (dye?) change colors in new light? crazy! this little thing called life, lost my love potion number 9! (not just for boys?) is there LSD in this stuff???????????????

  • The audience looks like they're on drugs! Ah, the '60s! ;-p

  • Love this live

  • Gotta love that Rickenbacker 12-string!

  • Gotta love classic rock, Crosby in that poncho, WOW !!

  • lol, dave at 1:13

  • Crosby's harmony is amazing.

  • @79goldmaster1 sure is. the fact that this is totally live makes his singing even more impresive.

  • The chick at 1.02 has a pretty funky dress on, and as the camera pans about that lot, you can see the Military Industrial Complex chick with pearls around her neck. She really contextualises the times....

  • @DoctorBohr

MIC? You been spendin' way too much time in school. Enjoy the babes and leave the politics behind...or you really will be Doctor Bore

  • @LTF6161

    Man is a political animal

  • @DoctorBohr

And a sexual animal, and a violent animal, and a peaceful animal, and a fun animal, and a hateful...You get the point. Of course if you want to redact everything to politics like a good Marxist that is your choice and on your own ideological grounds I won't argue w/ you;>)

  • @LTF6161 A good Marxist would redact everything to economics. Every political thing happening is just a consequense of the economic basis. Saying that man is a political animal is the Aristotelian view (man is a 'zôon politikòn'). Although Aristotle also said that man is a two-legged featherless animal :)...

  • @Rubenbaraja333 this is a music video

  • @Rubenbaraja333

Politics is economics by other means...or is it vice versa...or is that war? Or "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar":)

  • @LTF6161

They dont call me Dr. Bohr for nothing, you know.

  • @Trilox1 "nether"? go to school bitch

  • best byrds performance for sure! go JIM

  • wow, what a grat song, beautifully performed

  • i like it better in this key

  • Oh goosh those girls are annoying lol, they're wasting their money if they're not going to shut their mouths and listen.

  • So sad these chicks that are screaming could care less about listenig to the band. It's a little distracting.

  • @gale31 true !!

  • my mum has just passed over and this was the first record she bought for me, along with a dansette record player. i played it every night for ages. thanks mum. love you so much.

  • I think this performance was on the "Big TNT Show".

  • 2:19 = musical orgasm

  • Some nice looking totty in that audience. They don't make girls like that anymore.

  • @dharmashooter Oh my god... they really don't make girls like that anymore. It's terrible.

  • @Minacious Isn't it? Compare those excited, innocent, lovely faces listening to a beautiful, sublime piece of music to the rotten narcissistic whores listening to gaga and raga you see walking around today. Makes you want to weep.

  • @dharmashooter it's the pre-McDonalds generation

  • perfect voices !

  • Look how crazy those young ladies were-screaming at the top of their lungs. Today, you would be hard pressed to hear them yell and scream at any good current rock band today.

  • @blackhawk10972 yea but get them near bieber and they'll go crazy.

  • BLUESMRA-THE BYRDS'S VERSION OF THAT SONG IS A SUCESS THAN THE ORIGINAL

  • haw can lady gaga have more views than this? or dylan? O.o

  • @WeeWeeh5 Dude, cause Gaga is awesome.

  • @a5ghilleman i hope u r joking!

  • @WeeWeeh5 cause the byrds got a bad reputation

  • how can they get paid to copy bob dylan

  • @bluesamranma They introduced Bob Dylan to people who listened pop/rockmusic through covers. Without The Byrds Bob Dylan wouldn't be as famous as he is now.

  • Dig that guitar rhytims on this song! Wow.

  • no me digas!!!, jajajaja

  • This video sucks. I can hardly hear them sing because of all those stupid teenage bitches screaming their hearts out!

  • @jakemiller5000 That's the 60's for ya:)
