@184Films If you really wanted to you can actually use the McAfee firewall to block McAfee from connecting to the internet. I haven't tried this yet, but if I did I imagine that it would stop McAfee from tying to install updates. If you want to, give this a try:
McAfee Internet Security Suite > Web and Email Protection > Firewall > Internet Connections for Programs > (Everything that has to do with McAfee) > Block
And if you're looking for a new anti-virus, I suggest trying 'avast!'
@Andrew011811 Hehe, yet against, thanks for the comment, but I have gotten a new computer since then... But! these steps can be used for other people that are watching this video haha... SO! Thanks again for your input
Go to control panel >> uninstall a program >> look for mcafee >> and click uninstall. Should work, did for me because i had Mcafee sercurity scan plus.
Listening to you detail your experience makes me cringe because the problem is not so much McAfee (my least favorite of the bunch), it's between the user and the keyboard. You installed two AV products at once, and then went and tried manually deleting registered files of a program that hooks the kernel. I understand you probably aren't a computer expert but you caused this problem, no one else. Do yourself a favor and just install the free and most excellent Microsoft Security Essentials.
Just search unlocker on google then download the program from their website or download from cnet then run it and you can search ANY files and delete them no matter what they are just don't delete the important things :)
I'm struggling with it at the moment.I also got McAfee with my laptop and after a month pestering for updates started. First I simply unticked McAfee from Startup, but it still shows up (even though status is still disabled in Win startup). Then I looked throughMcAfee options and disabled one by one to at least stop it from using resources. Then I looked through many forums and I found out that McAfee put downloadable uninstaller for it, BUT to use it you have to subscribe!!!
yeah by the sounds of it you deleted/un-installed from your computer??? did you actually uninstall the program from the install disk? if you did not do this and you just tryed to delete mcafee from you computer files it wont leave. you need to uninstall from the disk and not just delete.......hope this helps
Hello. Go to your control panel and then type the word restore . Then put a date in that will backdate your whole computer. Then reboot. You can also make yourself Administrator. This should also be in your Control Panel. Konbowa! Cheers from London.
downloaded CCleaner run the program and it removes a lot of crap from you computer. Once you done that go to the tools in ccleaner and uninstall... find the program and remove it from there.

McAfee might as well be a virus that prevents viruses. Which is annoying and counter productive.

No progress yet, huh?
Wow. Sorry dude.
Every time I have used McAfee I have had to reformat the drive or the partition to kill it.
None of the uninstaller/cleaner programs I have used worked to my satisfaction.
Good luck on trying those mentioned above.

You know, to kill the voodoo.
You might have to cut the head off a chicken too.
...but use your best judgment.

If you can't get it to leave by the time I'm down there next, I'll look at it and see if I can 'regedit' it for you.
