  • "...it features Dana Colley on... the triangle, ladies and gentlemen..."

  • Who the *&#^ dislikes this? Those people should be banned from the Internet.

  • I like this better than the album version.

  • @gravitywheel Yea i found that the album version kinda lacked the energy that the live show had :)

  • I love Morphine, but I really hate this version.....

  • only two strings?

  • @DarkTwilightGuitar Yes indeed!! Ain't it great!?!

  • 2 E strings. One tuned up 1-octave.... Gotta luv it, man!!! R.I.P.Mark Sandman

  • @crimson6858 I'm genuinely not saying this to be a petty dick, but I think they're tuned a 5th apart. RIP Mark Sandman indeed, my musical hero

  • @jrwgmail True story, I played along with this song, same setup, a fifth a part. I remember going into the music shop to buy a slide 'for my bass guitar', and the shop assistant just looked at me like I was a stupid feck. Little did he know.

  • @crimson6858 Ummm actually he tunes his bass DA, with the G string being tuned up to A. Essentially it's tuned in 4th's. Idk where you got 2 E strings from...

  • Saw Primus live at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston right after Mark died. Les Claypool brought it up as music having lost the greatest bass player to ever live... whether you agree with Les or not, we truly did lose an incredible musician/singer/songwriter when he left us. R.i.p. Mark

  • AMEN....

  • @cjonesufc Les is a great admirer of Mark Sandman. He has a microphone like the one that Mark had, and it has a label that says "Sandman". I remember a live performance of the Les Claypool Frog Brigade in witch he start talking about Mark and this mic. Even there´s a version of Honey White where Les is singing and playing the bass.

    Two incredible musicians

    R.I.P Mark!

  • ...more triangle.......

  • Presentation is everything......

  • A man with good ideas and a great voice. Still miss you Mark

  • still not as sad as "like toy soldiers" but still das

  • @h66hhgr That song is retarded. Don't even compare.

  • "my biggest fear, if I let go you'll come and get me in my sleep."

that line scares me a little bit for some reason.

  • Triangle>cowbell, you know this to be true.

  • I just heard a triangle solo, I feel frightened and somewhat confused

  • EPIC!

  • This song is silly good. RIP Mark Sandman.

  • I miss him so much. :^(

  • hello, folks, you can also find very cool version of this song on Morphine: At Your Service. Jerome Deupree features this song on drums instead of Billy Conway(respect Billy) and it is perfect.

  • Cool version of this GREAT song!

Never heard before, thanks for posting ;-))

  • Anyone here used to get stuck with the triangle during music classes? I wish I could have rocked it out like that :\

  • guau

  • Is it hard to play a triangle? lol

  • WoW never new there was talent needed to play a triangle until seeing this vid

  • MORE TRIANGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • God Damn that bass and Triangle is fucking sick

  • Fantastic!!!!! Thanks so much for the performance video...Does this Band still play? I LOVE them, but don't know too much about them...There just so great!

  • @rubyrose456 If you have questions about a band, album or song there is a site named allmusic dot com.

Unfortunately, the singer died on stage several years ago. I was lucky enough to see them as they toured behind their last three albums.

While I am sorry that he died, what better way for a musician to go than at the peak of his career on stage with the fans screaming their hearts out for his band?

  • @Mazzystar1212 Thanks for writing! Even still, I'm thrilled to be hearing them right now. About their Music, a most beautiful and Spellbinding Sound- Hypnotic, like distorted Jazz- an intentional distortion- that can "take" hearing much deeper in some; Such as in the way of "ritual practice" Rhythms which work at a particular "Soul speed" assisting sensations toward Feelings on cellular-Spiritual levels. "Cure For Pain" seems to support this idea, but, what do you think? I, too love Hope Sandoval

  • @rubyrose456 yep....needs more cowbell

  • ...Leave it to Morphine to make epic use of a triangle. :D

Oh yeah, and a badass song. :D

  • @DEMONIIIK Oh, and leave it to them to all start playing at the exact same time... no countdown or beat or anything. :D

  • i dont know how people could rate this song bad

  • @electronicmedium I don't know how people could rate this comment bad

  • Mark was a fucking genius, no doubt about that.. and anybody disputes that, I shall meet you at the rise of dawn, I choose pistols. Rest in Peace may you rest peacefully as your music still continues to inspire the rest of us who were open minded enough to appreciate real talent, and real music. Sandman, you are the man, and most of us are still looking for our own Lylah. :)

  • Rock that fucking triangle Dana!

  • anybody knows where is that place? i can't find this information here in the comments. great version, great vibe!

  • Montreux Jazz Festival in 1995. see in another video.

  • so FEW people can get maximum effect with minimum equipment. Morphine was special and unique.

  • ¿QUIÉN ES ESTE MAE CON ESTA VOZ? Qué hallazgo : )

  • the greatest song ever!

  • Such a loss to the musical community. I miss morphine.

  • New favorite Morphine song. Great share, thanks for posting. :)

  • simplicity is best. what a wonderful musician, what a beautiful mind.

  • @apparentlyitdoes -- perfectly said. "less is more" a forgotten trait and only pulled off properly by an advanced mind..

  • I envy SOOOO much this audience!

  • I'm coming

  • why did he have to die...........

  • is it me or these are really only two strings on the bass guitar :)?

  • @neychev

yes, only 2 was Mark's way to go...

  • Yep!!!!!!Fucking great!!!!!

  • @neychev Yes brother. Two strings. *fistbump* ;)

  • @neychev You'd be correct. Also, that is a slide that is on his finger.

  • @neychev Yep. He can do with two strings what most cannot do with 4, 5, 6, or 12.

  • @neychev

    haha yep, 2.

  • @neychev yea only two strings... :D

  • @neychev It's a slide bass, it has only two strings :))

  • @neychev

man, those two strings were mark's trademark.... two e's with one tuned up for an octave.

  • @neychev -- for real and for true

  • @neychev

You are correct, he did more with 2 strings than most bass players can with 4

  • @neychev he made hybrids of guitars and basses, called bassitar and guitbass or something like that... he's playing one of those :)

  • The singer looks alot like Lou Reed.

  • Wow I'm in Love this band is the SHIT!

  • Does anyone else hear someone singing "da da da da" in the beginning? Like someone in the audience; cos it sounds like there's no mic on them. If it is someone in the audience; I think that's cool, lol.

  • No, you´re hearing voices xD

  • "It's sorta of a live remix. It features Dana Colly on... the triangle, ladies and gentlemen." I love how he says that. When I first heard that I started laughing. The triangle sounds only as good as you make it sound. And Dana Colly makes it sound awesome!

  • Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are Morphine at your service...

  • @RogerWaters95 i laughed so hard too..

  • Alot of singers sing off key when they sing live, usually due to the fact that t hey cant hear themselves over the instruments, and how strange is it that they can hear the notes coming from the instruments and still sing off key, when Mark isn't even playing his bass and sings in key through the entire song. And I know it would be hard to hear yourself over those drums, especially when so close to you.

  • Dana rocks that triangle!

  • sandman probably you are ....

  • @Crishaana you're really an ignorant.

  • You're really narrow minded. I just voiced out my taste about music. I didn't judge anyone, unlike you !!!

  • @Crishaana its not about beeing narrow minded or about taste here. i respect your opinion. and my opinion about you is that you're an ignorant of what concerns about music. that's all. this band doesn't have a guitar because was it ment to be this way.. with a guitar it would sound boring.. they were looking for a different sound at the moment...

  • You cannot call it "ignorant of what concerns music" since personal taste has nothing to do with ignorance. Just like you say "it would sound boring".. many would agree that an acoustic guitar would not sound boring at all. It maybe is a different sound that they were looking for but that doesn't please everyone. Come on, we are all unique individuals in this world, even if that's their style, many have the right to feel that it's incomplete, even though YOU feel it's complete as it is.

  • @Crishaana i get what you saying but definately im not arguing about taste here.. you have to understand that bands are first created creativity and originality and only then from what sounds better or worse... an acustic guitar would probably take the feeling intensity and the message of the music or whatever you wanna call it... and i respect others opinions.. i just see a lot of people talking about things that they don't really know or are interested in.. i dont know as well but i try..

  • amazing! taringa!

  • Der spielt ja herzzereißend gut Triangel! LOL

  • macht er... ;) svz lässt grüßen... :D

  • incredibly underrated band. but, for me, this is not one of their best songs. i love the sax of dana colley, like in the way we met.

  • @cocolase .. slide bass and triangle: badass! tell me you can sit still through anything sandman :D omg omg

  • The longer I am in the world the more I realize it is who you know-what you intend to do-how much you spend on what you intend to do in the world-that's what get you known--maybe the group didn't really care about fame in the end?

  • one of my favorite morphine songs..i havent known them for long but i dont understand why they are underrated..these guys can put up a good show..i wish i was there..

  • perfect song! mark sandman...:(

  • Kax,

That was my point. The huberis of youth. I am not that easily remembered but at the time I thought i was....lol

  • I had a chance to drink a few beers and shoot the breeze with Mark a few months before he died after a show in Orlando. He was real cool and I tried to tell him I met him once before a few years earlier at the Middle East in Boston. It was funny because you expect them to remember you......ahhh the follies of youth! He will be missed!

  • You probably aren't someone who is easily remembered then. Still, you're very sincere is confessing this. Someone like Sandman was encountering people continously...

  • We have had Cobain, Sandman....now we're all lost.

  • @kax61 dont forget layne staley he was better than cobain much better

  • this is freakin' awesome

  • More triangle!

  • I agree! I have a fever and the only cure is more triangle!
