  • my dad was actually part of the testing

  • This film is a mess. It's parts of other films (#43 & 44) with a center section of new stuff on Operation Sailorhat. There's some new stuff about the SUBROC at the end.

  • it made to take out a sub

  • An air burst nuke would be used at sea so that the energy is not used to vaporize seawater and keep the blast wave from being dampened. An air burst would be incredibly destructive to any ships in its range.

  • it only had a 10000 yard range...we carried two on our boat at one time...before my day. 10000 yards is awful close. wouldn't want to have to shoot one. but thank G-d for the Nuclear Weapon. exTM3(SS) "Guido"

  • You can use this to destroy a carrier battle fleet with one torpedo!

  • Theres a point where you must ask... why? i mean, its a little overkill... there arent any ships that exist that merit that kind of explosives. Nor do we need to use that... But none the less, it looks fun :)

  • Well, to begin with, this was the cold war-nothing was overkill. Plus, this wasn't a weapon to sink a ship, this was a weapon to sink a navt. 2 or 3 of these could take out most of the USSR's Atlantic fleet.

  • The smoke trails are markers used to help judge the size of the mushroom cloud, etc. They give a point of reference to the analysts.

  • @reedyjt hey thanks for the reply my friend :-)..

  • what are those smoke trails crossing horizontally across the area of detonation, moments BEFORE the blast @ 3:25.... ????

Ive seen this before yet still dont know what it is.!!

  • 13:01

    that ship got owned =P

  • Wow, can you imagine life on Earth with all those nuclear toys exploding around?. Much better than climate change...Kids with three heads and dogs with eight legs...

  • that's sick that you can see the shadow/refraction from the shock wave @ 8:35

  • Two of the sailorhat shots are seen in this film, both of about the same yield of 500 short tons.

  • Sanitized? Great. I guess they removed the picutres of the GI being given radioactive water to drink and the narrator saying "these GI's are being used as human guniea pigs to test radiation. It's cheaper than animals because you can't sell human steaks at the grocery store."

  • Was it an atomic bomb? It appears to be not, or....

  • The last one, "Operation Sailorhat" was 500 tons of TNT, not a nuke. It was tested in 1965.

Now that is scary when thinking that this is only a 0.5 kiloton nuke. Compare that to the 50 megaton Tsar bomb! D:

serch Operation saloirhat and you will get better fotage of this film.

  • 7:25-7:30 amazing footage of bomb's shock wave hitting a ship

  • Goddamn, that steam is gnarly.

Dish death at 4:15 is pretty badass as well.

These films are the greatest shit ever.

  • How did you get these?

  • Buying it from Nevada Department of Energy I guess...
