Why on earth are we sticking with these corrupt Americans who treat Britain like a piece of shit when we could be allied with Russia? The communists are gone. We have a historical relationship with Russia that is more interesting than the USA. To be honest, Russia are better allies to Britain than the Americans are.

I disagree, I think many Russians envy the constitutional monarchy system. If they still had the Tsars today, bound by constitutional power, their tradition would still be alive. Without the Tsars, they are identified as communists, unfortunately.

Anyway, Britain & Australia should give up with the US, who have always treated us terribly. There is no reason why we can't be friends with Russia now the communists are gone.

It's 21 century now, constitutional monarchy can only succeed in entertainment industry. Countries still seriously adopt constitutional monarchy system today will pay the price for tomorrow. I am not a fan of USA, but without their military protection, Australia would be China's another province.

@TheLiberalKnight USA treats everyone like toys that is not the news. Given the current economic crisis in EU and US, I don't think many old powers would remain strong or even survive afterward. Australia still has some British heritage due to the history, but the only thing that really matter is the economy. If you want to keep your old allies close, you need to have strong economic ties with them. Ask yourself, how much investment and trade does Britain have with Australia? How much China has?

Look, the anglosphere are natural allies. Shared culture is more essential to an alliance than trade is. The fact that you want to abandon English speaking nations in favour of an alliance with China based purely on their exports to Australia is outstanding.
