If you watch alot of holyfields fights in a row you see how much he actully fight dirty head butts that look accedental but are part of his trained arsenal. Even his last fight with sherman williams he quit with a paper cut to the side of his eye.
If Holyfield broke Czyz's nose, it's possible that it pinched a facial nerve which definitely would have given the distinct sensation of extreme burning. Anyone who has had nerve damage or Shingles could attest to that. Now, if that's what actually happened, I have no clue, but it seems at least plausible. All that aside, though, Czyz put up a suprisingly good performance in this fight and Holyfield, perhaps, a surprisingly bad one. I wish they could have finished it.
Czyz may have been able to outbox Holyfield. He went into this fight to prove he could take heavyweight punches. He actually did Tyson a disservice-Tyson thought this would be a walk over after this performance by Holyfield.

You used to fight amature back in the 70s? I also did coming up under Lou Duva when he had Cyz,Bumphus,Bramble, Hard rock green, Alex Ramos David Sears the Gym was in West Paterson Nj. Lot of good times there! They used to put me up in a motel for the week one on one off. Used to love driving there from the Nevele Hotel where I worked as a Bell Hop.
