I love this piece i made a region chior because of this song its a difficult piece but with practice totally awesome i sang tenor which is the third line. I had to sing this movement and the 3rd for audition. it was amazing to be able to sing this song
: ( i was crushed when i heard i couldnt perform this Beautiful piece of music. I placed Just 6th chair in pre area auditions. Can you believe that? 1st alternate? thats like a spit in the face to me and my family. Im so sad but im so very glad for those of you who are going on to the area auditions. Im looking forward to hearing from you all in April.
I have to learn this plus movement 3 and os justi meditabitur for region in less than a month though i did get passed district as a 9th chair baritone
John Rutter's "Gloria" will be put up at the "Gala Concert" during the Lund International Choral Festival in Sweden this year. We sung it in our church choir "Gaudia" at the Lackalänga Parrish a few years ago. A lovely piece of music! I've got tickes to it, and will go there with my wife. /Lars
Gosh I'm so excited for Pre- Area and TMEA. I hope I can do this. Everyone says Freshmen shouldn't make it on the first try. But I'll show them. Does anyone think 6th chair is getting anywhere near state? I'm just checking. I've never done this before.
@jthameschoir I made it all 4 years...6th for district is pretty good you usually know who has a good chance when you get to pre-area...just practice and if you can afford a voice teacher that helps
@Puremulation this is one of the songs for the upcoming TMEA All-state mixed choir I wonder if the basses will have trouble with this...they usually freeze up around D or Eflat LOL....I was a Baritone in high school when I sung with the choir
@Puremulation In a choir camp this summer in prep for the TMEA contest, we practiced this piece. A lot of our basses hit that F beautifully and sustained it with no problem lol.
I don't see any difference between this "bass practice" karaoke and the original one...

Fantastic piece of music, we played it last year, and I wish we still were now. At about 2:12 though, is it just me or is the 2nd trumpet sharp?

We sang this at my school... this is my favorite movement because of how strong and triumphant it is - it gives a feeling almost like flight!
