The music in this commercial is epic.

Nintendo was so smart with the Gameboy. They knew at the time that the technology wasn't far enough along yet to allow for a truly portable handheld with a color backlit screen and lots of bells and whistles. Instead they dumbed down the specs to conserve battery life and focused on making good games. That's why Game Gear and the Lynx got blown out of the water in spite of having superior specs.

@Crotchrot I had a Lynx too! lol! They billed it as portable, but just a few hours and six AA batteries later, that thing was down for the count. :P

The Gameboy was definitely the much more practical handheld of the two. Plus there was no comparison when it came to the game library.

I did like the Lynx too though. If you thought of it more as a boombox than a walkman, you could get past the power issue.  :P

I always loved the song they used for it. I remember back in Christmas 1990 was the first time I ever got a Gameboy Pocket original. I still have. I think Metapeed or Super Mario where my first games. I don't remember. But I was glad when Pokemon Red and Blue came out. Then all the kids where getting them. I miss the old days of school when we use to have link cable. I be trading at lunch time and recess and during high school study halls ^_^

I still have, love, and play my original 1989 Game Boy. I play Pocket Monsters Red on it all the time. I have the Colour, Advance, SP, and DS, and I still play my Game Boy. I've traveled to many places with it in my pocket, and I go nowhere without it. It has taken a lot of wear, and has had the screen and other parts replaced as a result of wear.
