The worse fouls called in the game were the 2 on Okafor in the first 5 minutes. No 1 seems to remember that. Calhoun sat him for the last 15 of the first half. U think he wanted to do that? He did it to avoid foul trouble at the end. He was right. Coach K should have done the same. UCONN still won without their best player for a whole half.

That's why Duke was ahead so late it took a while once Okafor came back to catch up. I usually hate Calhoun's rule of sitting a player for the rest of the half if he get's 2 fouls. Calhoun took a risk sitting Okafor. I mean you have to admit that UCONN winning that game without Okafor for the first half
2010's National Title makes up for this loss to UConn...man that was an unfortunate night...but you have to lose those tough ones and stick through it to get to moments like this years Championship.

I'm a UNC fan. But it's not entirely Coach K's fault that these guys don't perform well in the NBA. It's just that he coaches these guy's up to make them perform more than what they are. C'mon, who EVER thought JJ Redick was going to be a legit starting 2 guard? He actually is having a better career then I thought he would. Look at his counter-part Adam Morrison. Hell as a UNC fan, although Roy didn't recruit them. McCants(injured this season), and May(always hurt) have been horrible.

Deng only stayed at Duke for a year. Dahntay Jones 2. It's bad for player development. Coach K is not a bad coach, but he's not a talent developer.

Who knows, Sheldon Williams may have been as good as Elton Brand had his talent been developed at another school or in a different Duke era. Duke is becoming the Notre Dame of college basketball. They can't get good talent and the NBA talent they do get leave early or erode, and no great coach should watch talent erode

ROokie of the yr 1999-00, ROokie game MVP 2000, consistent 20&10 guy from 1999-2007. two-time all-star, 2006 NBA 2nd team and led the CLippers (thats right the CLippers) to the 2nd RD---which is equivalent of winning a title with any other NBA team. In 2007 the injuries got Brand and now he is just a role player but he is far from a bust.

I would be upset if my team lost, but I wouldn't be able to change anything about it. Eventually I would have to get over it and come back next year and do it again. I understand the concept completely. I mean I watched my team lose every year since 2005 and they had to get over it. Sometimes the shots just don't come, especially when you have team that relies mostly on 3 pointers (Duke). Eventually the 3's don't fall anymore. At that point you deserve to lose!
You're making my point exactly. Eventually Coach K did get over it and began to field more incredible teams, just not right after the game. Shots not falling is generally how great teams lose, it's happened to Duke each of the past few years but I think this year Coach K has a team set up to not have to rely on that.

@Bobedy444 We're getting Austin Rivers: Ranked #1 High School player of the year...suppose to go straight pro. Marshal Plumlee, Queen Cook....+ Kyrie Irving will be back. We're going to be even better next year. If Coach K died tomorrow, we would still be fine. He has trained his assistant coach well and we are prepared for our next coach.

Like Harrison Barnes was going to Duke and said he committed to it then ALL of a sudden...he says...im going to carolina. Hansbourgh went to Duke games with Duke shirts...talking to coach K who had recruited him, then switches to carolina. I see patterns. All the greats just move. The worse fouls called in the game were the 2 on Okafor in the first 5 minutes. No 1 seems to remember that. Calhoun sat him for the last 15 of the first half. U think he wanted to do that? He did it to avoid foul trouble at the end. He was right. Coach K should have done the same. UCONN still won without their best player for a whole half.

@gobluedevils5677 Dude come on. Talk about fouls. Okafor, UCONN's best player, got called for 2 touch fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game. He sat out for the last 15 min of the first. That's why Duke was ahead so late it took a while once Okafor came back to catch up. I usually hate Calhoun's rule of sitting a player for the rest of the half if he get's 2 fouls. Calhoun took a risk sitting Okafor. I mean you have to admit that UCONN winning that game without Okafor for the first half

I'm a UNC fan. But it's not entirely Coach K's fault that these guys don't perform well in the NBA. It's just that he coaches these guy's up to make them perform more than what they are. C'mon, who EVER thought JJ Redick was going to be a legit starting 2 guard? He actually is having a better career then I thought he would. Look at his counter-part Adam Morrison. Hell as a UNC fan, although Roy didn't recruit them. McCants(injured this season), and May(always hurt) have been horrible.

I said past 8 years. That doesn't include Brand, Maggette and Battier. But guess what, most of those guys left early and were the zenith of Duke recruiting. Let's look at Duke's last 5 first round picks. The jury is out on Henderson, Redick and Williams have performed far from what expectations were. Redick's 9 points a game is not "beasting." Deng only stayed at Duke for a year. Dahntay Jones 2. It's bad for player development. Coach K is not a bad coach, but he's not a talent developer.

@Bobdevils Yeah, but you have to have talent to win games and stay a good program, and you have to help adapt that talent. Many of the coaching woes are with the assistants. Who knows, Sheldon Williams may have been as good as Elton Brand had his talent been developed at another school or in a different Duke era. Duke is becoming the Notre Dame of college basketball. They can't get good talent and the NBA talent they do get leave early or erode, and no great coach should watch talent erode

ROokie of the yr 1999-00, ROokie game MVP 2000, consistent 20&10 guy from 1999-2007. two-time all-star, 2006 NBA 2nd team and led the CLippers (thats right the CLippers) to the 2nd RD---which is equivalent of winning a title with any other NBA team. In 2007 the injuries got Brand and now he is just a role player but he is far from a bust.

I would be upset if my team lost, but I wouldn't be able to change anything about it. Eventually I would have to get over it and come back next year and do it again. I understand the concept completely. I mean I watched my team lose every year since 2005 and they had to get over it. Sometimes the shots just don't come, especially when you have team that relies mostly on 3 pointers (Duke). Eventually the 3's don't fall anymore. At that point you deserve to lose!

Shots not falling is generally how great teams lose, it's happened to Duke each of the past few years but I think this year Coach K has a team set up to not have to rely on that.

1999 NC game and 2004 FF game are definitely 2 of the most disappointing losses in Duke history. Honestly, it proves how hard it is to win a National Championship.

for all you duke haters, and people who think Duke gets all the calls, this exact game completly puts that thougt to rest. This was the worst officiated game I can ever remeber watching, it was terrible. Every Duke big man fouled out on phantom calls.

west virginia was a lower seed you retard 1 and 2 not much difference but a 7 and 2 there is.and uconn had okafor not to mention lots of nba talent players.and espn radio was talking about how uconn was the huge favorite and how duke was lucky to even be in the final four i have the radio program recorded for proof.comparing 11 or 7 with 2 is stupid of you.uconn was a 2 seed but they were the huge favorite all throughout the tourney.

Duke was the #1 seed and they lost a game they should have won against a #2 seed in Connecticut. I guarantee that there has never been a time when a #2 seed was favored over a #1 seed. If UConn was better then Duke then why didn't UConn get a #1 seed? And I can compare a #11 seed and a #7 seed if I want to. The common denominator is that they sent Duke home in the first weekend. I guess Duke can't beat anything in Virginia when it counts huh?

Duke was ranked #1 in their quarter and
UConn was ranked #2 in their quarter.
The two teams were actually considered the two best teams in the nation despite the seeds. Many felt that that the Final Four game b/w Duke and UConn was the unofficial championship game.
Coach K was disappointed b/c he knew, like many others, that if Duke had advanced to the national title game, Duke would have probably beaten G Tech and become the National Champion
