They got Ne-Yo to work with her and cut down on the number of songs that SHE wrote. They also encouraged her to lose weight and present a more "slick" image.

She & her mother fought for creative control of her 3rd album and I heard that the label's lack of support was designed to be a "teachable moment" for her. To show her that despite her talent, failing to fall in line with what the powers that be demanded of their artists could land her on the back burner or dropped.
