  • This video has far fewer views than it deserves.

    Damn vote bots.

  • oh my god, want to know what else is hard? my big literally fucking COCK

  • We NEED to get back to space. We NEED to get off this rock!

  • It is funny how the religious would read their "holy book" on pda/ipad and say mean things about science.

  • @vmorgun lol that is so true

  • amazing votebot activity... the only message 'respect for science' which would be admirable if the voteboting idiots didn't somehow think it was a dangerous message!

yet idiot fundies use exactly that science... using computer technology and software which they think fell from the fucking sky or something... to claim that respect for science is somehow a bad thing...

The real message behind this video is 'no respect for hypocrisy'

  • holy fucking shit, the votebots destroyed this video!!! damn you gotta hand it to the bastards, they know how to lie and cheat for jesus

BTW i like the qoute at the end:

" we choose to do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard" haha if only america had that same mentality today....

  • It still does. But sadly, "Hard" has changed. Going to space is easy. It happens several times a year. Hell, we're making a space station.

"Hard" is going to war with another country under the pretext of defending your country from another country that has nothing to do with either of the first two countries and stealing their natural resources while still making your populace think you're there under the pretext.

  • Sadly john F Kenndy got shot

  • By Christians who wanted the military spending to destroy the world, the power to deny homosexuals civil rights, disadvantage black people, disallow a healthcare reform, stop scientific discovery, etc.

    Fuck I hate Christians.......

  • JFK's words are simply brilliant.

  • I have mirrored this video.

    It's short but poignant.

  • Comment removed

  • yay rockets!

  • Maybe we can pray ourselves to the moon. :-D

  • Looking at these poor kids reminds me of myself.

When i was a young child just as old as these kids,

I was feared into believing into Islam.

the religion that oppresses my people ever since the Arabs conquered my homeland and imposed there religion on my people.

one of them being that ville petty dictator saddam hussein.

a firm believer in islam, and also a firm believer in that the Kurds in halabja should be gassed.

innocent men women and children who had nothing to do with his politics.

  • Well, I suppose one could argue that it's not fair to judge creationists based on what they have contributed thus far to humanity, as they have only been around for roughly 49 years (They started the idea in 1960 or so). Even so, the amount of scientific achievements that have come to pass in 49 years is quite staggering. Hell, the amount of scientific achievements that have come to pass in 1 year is far more than what they have accomplished.

  • The only reason religion exists is because either the pastors want cash or the people dont wanna face reality(or wants that it will happen someday spirit when fallen in hard times).

  • Grand. Simply grand.

  • and some people think we faked the whole thing, what idiots.

  • 'We faked'? You worked at NASA back then?

    *Joke*

  • We, The United States of America

  • I know... I was joking. At first glance I found your comment funny. That's all. Anyway, Have a good day.

    Regards,

    Lord MacBeth

  • The song and video fit together so well.

  • dumb votebots rated this video badly. 5/5!!

  • Votebots suck :D

  • I'm still waiting for religion to put a man on the moon.

  • I would like to put religion on the moon.

  • lol Hanhark98

  • IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!!

  • doctor insano ftw!

  • We chose to study all forms of life without resorting to the simple idea that "God did it".

  • looking at the ratings i can't belive that some people (creationist)hate sience....FUCK YOU jesus!

  • Well done. To the moon and back in 40 seconds.

The moon-landing was indeed a bold stamement made by science.

  • Breathtakingly Awesome!

    Thank You Thunderf00t!

  • Then stop using your computer, your cell phone, your car, your TV....and go and live in a cave somewhere.

  • no, he cant live in a car, he is going to have to build a house out of tree branches and plastic bags

  • please then immediately quit using everything with electricity move out of your house take of ur cloths( also made by science) and live in a hut with ur bible and lets see how far u get OR just be an ignorant hypocrite like u are now and suffer from cognitive dissonance

  • Then why don't you just go live in a cave

  • Oh the AGONY, why science, why!? Why am I warm and well fed!? I better just abandon science before I'm destroyed by my overgrown life expectancy.

  • I love that song.

  • Great music, okay vid. It could have been at least long enough to listen to the whole song. 4/5

  • That must be one hell of a ride.

    SCIENCE!!!

  • You are the stupidest person I've ever met on youtube... And that's saying a lot.

  • That post was directed at thejijjic.

  • Such little respect for science, he might as well stop going to hospitals, because it's FULL of Science. thejijjic will maybe get help from prayer, since I heard it works wonders.

  • hey thejic go fuck yourself

  • Great moments in presidential speeches!

  • From :Kennedy to Mr.Misunderstimate

  • Beautiful video, Thunderf00t - cheers!!

  • Brilliant work Thunderf00t!

  • Love the music. I want it, but it's not on iTunes :(

  • SCIENCE!

  • Good form!

  • ALWAYS respect what mankind has done

  • Maybey you could redo it using on the soundtrack a version of the Devil's Trill without the drum machine?

I fear the creationists are right about rock msuic being of the devil.

  • True Respect

    This video should be featured

  • Unfortunately, arguing with irrational belief is wasted effort. Many are wilfully ignorant. Several Creationists I know also believe the moon landing was a fake, and that they are saved by prayer (not years of training their doctors have had, or hard-won scientific breakthroughs in medicine).

While prayer is a form of meditation that can be beneficial, generalization of confirmation bias is a menace. When dogma drives policy, I worry, even if a particular outcome is good.

    Great vid.

  • People want to enjoy the benefits of science without having to accept the thinking process that created them. Maybe we should make a law that anyone who says "science is evil":

    - can't get medications, vaccines or heart transplants

    - can't buy a car, TV, cell phone or computer

    - can't live inside a house, sleep on a bed or use toilet paper - or even a toilet!

    - can't even read a bible, since it couldn't be printed without science

    ...

That should put things in perspective for them :D

  • sorry for the double post

  • I agree with you except:

    "- can't ... use ... a toilet!"

They can't use one of them fancy flushing toilets, but a hole in the ground is fine.

"- can't even read a bible, since it couldn't be printed without science" That's not exactly true. They could scratch it onto something with a stick, and marvel at their achievement.

We should adopt Bill Engvall's idea and all creationists should be made to wear a sign. If they walk into a hospital, the nurse would say , "I'm sorry, we can't treat you."

  • People want to enjoy the benefits of science without having to accept the thinking process that created them. Maybe we should make a law that anyone who says "science is evil":

  • agolosha, get your facts straight.

The soviets were always ahead of the americans in the space race from the beginning: first satelite, first man in space, etc.

And I bet if Korolev (the genius who was behind all of soviet space achievements) hadn't died they would in fact have been the first on the moon. His death was what slowed down the russians enough for Von Braun's team to catch up and overtake them.

  • I think the examples you gave in another video,

like smallpox, agroindustry etc are much better examples of why people should be respectful and grateful towards science.

Going to the moon was useful, but largely a publicitary/PR/media stunt.

  • I have to agree with that.

  • Ahh WONDERFUL!! =) Love those picture!

I hope that the United States could spend a trillon dollars on Science insted of a war thow but don't get me wrong! I love your science culture!

But watch out! The European Union and especially China is catching on at a staggering rate! =)

  • Excellent. It's too often ignored that scientists have worked with enormous energy and dedication, and have PRODUCED a veritable GEYSER of objective and concrete value for all humanity.

Such being dismissed by "armchair" creationist and ancient myth believers is...the worst sort of ignorant/arrogant joke!

  • What did he mean with "...and do the other thing"

  • Sleeping with Marilyn Monroe?

  • LOL :D

Actually I believe "the other things" refers to the unmanned probe missions, like Pioneer and Voyager probes.

  • Actually, the "other thing" that Kennedy was talking about was the caveat that the astronauts who got to the moon had to also "return safely to the earth" for it to count.

  • No fair. We still don't even have the technology to send astronauts to planets like Saturn or Mars. It might not even be possible.

  • I believe that it is possible and we do have the things we need but we dont know how to make it and how to apply it to the modern shuttles.

  • What about bringing them back? The fuel needed would be tremendous. And if they landed on one of the planets they'd have to re-launch their ship out of that planet's atmosphere, which is alot more difficult than earth's? They would have to build a launch site on that planet.

  • Well it depends. The escape velocity of mars is a bit less than on the earth cause of the gravitational well.Besides i cant think of any planet orbiting the Sun that has a solid surface thats bigger than earth....

  • Possible, completely.

Wanted by politicians... no, no it is not.

  • Go back to 1960 and say that traveling to the moon is impossible, I am sure you will get agreement all around.

  • The conditions are different though. I'm still doubtful about planets like Saturn, but Mars seems more reasonable.

  • Saturn would erode the skin off an oiltanker lol, winds 1.8k kms plus the hydrogen and helium layers, not many people would like to visit it:P

  • saturn is an extremely windy, gass panet. You cant walk on it because youll just fall right through and you would get mutalated because the wind is so strong.

  • The USSR did get a probe to the moon.

When talking about space, the USSR were often first.

(first spacewalk, first lifeform in outer space, first sattelite, first probe to the moon)

  • -First re-entry of a live animal

-First manual piloting of a spacecraft

    -First docking in space

-First orbiting a foreign celestial body

-First manned flight outside earth orbit

-First mars probe, first space telescope

Wonder why these firsts aren't as sexy...

  • knowledge yay! faith boo!

  • BOO CREATIONISTS! HOORAY BEER!

  • hehe

  • Yay beer! - Cheers! :)

  • The Soviets actually had a good chance of beating us there, had it not been for the political maneuverings of some of their key scientists (mainly Korolev and Chelomei) in the early 60s, followed by Korolev's death in '66.

The USSR managed the first unmanned lunar soft landing and photos from the surface (Luna 9, Feb '66), and the first lunar-orbitting satellite (Luna 10, Apr '66). But the N1 rocket failure was the death blow.

  • Then how did they get the first satelite in human history into orbit. Maybe we had it easier, but I wouldn't go so far as to say pie haha

  • its kinda sad that arguably the most iconic scientific achievement of mankind was done to 'get at the russians'.

Its also certainly true that all of this came from the military. The primary reason you wanted to be able to build big rockets was such that you could wipe people out on the other side of the world.

Luckily we didnt destroy ourselves and we reap the benefits of the satellites this tech made possible today (plus solar system exploration).

  • Yeah, it's been always war that has driven science - in recent times. But as for these days, I think mankind has made a good step towards a better understanding for the overall need of science in any fields. However, religion and such still slows down this understanding in various regions of the world, and sadly even in the United States. But as long as there are people with common sense, there's always hope.

  • You sound just like Mr. Sagan. =)

  • Wow...I thought for a split second this vid was to show you actually had respect for America (unlike some of your other vids)

This comment is like saying to a woman "Nice dress...Kmart?"...I totally applaud and support the anti-creationist vids you have..If i am way off base with the 1st part of my comment, I am sorry and please correct me.Respect to you Thunderf00t!!

  • Every time I think about the great achievements of humanity, space travel always comes out number one. And it always give me goosebumps to think of what we can do, and what may come in the future.

  • I like your epic science respect movies. They are increadibly inspirational, keep me going. Thank you so much.

  • ThunderFoot has one nice taste for music..

¿what piece of art is it?

  • Vanessa Mae - The Devil's Trill

  • That Kennedy quote reminds of when all my friends and family were asking why I would want to go on my big climbing expedition. It is in human nature, we lust for challenge. Why do we choose to do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard. Awesome.

  • damn right, and what a sense of achievement they must have felt.

  • Shut up Kennedy. We went to the moon because of tension with the soviets, not "because it's hard".

  • ehhh ... we still did it, and that's AMAZING.

  • Why did the soviets want to go to the moon? To beat the americans in this achievement?

Why did the americans want to go to the moon? To beat the soviets in this achievement?

So why did we see it as an achievement*?

    Not because it was easy.

    Why then?

    Because it was hard.

So why DID we go to the moon? Not because it was easy, but because it was hard.

(* - why not let your two best runners run the marathon the fastest)

  • It was still one of the greatest moments in human history.

  • sweet music, what is it?

  • the devils trill, vanessa mae,

    enjoy!

  • Just wondering: The Apollo 2. stage separation clip was the "Allah-written-in-the-skies" clip. Was that intentional?

  • absolutely NO!

I also have a pretty low view of people who think that seeing something for a fraction of a second from a certain point has any significance.

This was the achievement of man!

Arguably the greatest achievement of mankind (symbolically anyway)

This was only achievable by millions of men working together on a single purpose.

  • ... i'm sure you meant "men and women"

  • Man = mankind.

  • Again sir, a tip of the hat to your choice in music.

  • This video is less than a minute, ... but it's MASSIVE.

  • yup

  • By Science, that's a great video. The song fits really well.

  • Anyways I like this video. Even though I know us humans are far more capiable than just building rockets that can explode up into space carrying people who just might make school and college all in vain.

  • Well, it's not that scientists WOULDN'T believe it, it's just that it hasn't been proven. Once there's real evidence of aliens on Earth, I'm sure scientists will be the first to wanna analyze it and learn about these creatures. There HAS to be more life in the universe, but the universe is a big place...it could take a while before we find anything.

  • on matters of science and testable reality, scientists neither believe nor disbelieve: scientists develop, brutally test, and *provisionally accept* explanations for *evidence* and *observations/records of fact*

when alien life forms become susceptable to such methodological empiricism, then science will *provisionally accept* expanations involving alien life.

    _not_before_then_

  • Jaysnipes,

it is entirely possible that aliens have already found us, just as it is possible that hordes of invisible pink unicorns are the mechanism of gravity.

this is irrelevant to the point: without testable observations and evidence, there is nothing for science to address or attempt to explain.

  • @jaysnipes "I sometimes wonder why people that are so fundy for science don't believe aliens are already on this planet"

Science give some hints to how difficult it would be to whisk around the universe. Our ability, even perceived ability, to travel to other stars is lacking, and coincidentally the evidence for aliens on earth even more so.

It will take more than some rockets on a DC8.

  • @jaysnipes "Yeah scientist love to say alot of things. One things for sure not many people search answers for themselves."

Oh but all to many do, without any effort to rationalize their arbitrary ideas. It is all too tempting to think that one's own ideas are the right ones. Religion thrives on it and encourages it, hence their many members.

It requires a good deal of specialized knowledge, for ideas to be more worth than a flip of a coin. Scientific methods solves that.

  • @jaysnipes "Yeah scientist love to say alot of things. One things for sure not many people search answers for themselves."

Well why don't you get a loan (or save up) and take a degree in any field of science. Even a 3 year bachelors degree is an eye opener and career oppurtunity.

    It really isn't that hard.

  • This is wonderful, I am always in wonder of the amazing accomplishments that sprang up as soon as scientists began rigorously applying the scientific method. This is exactly why ID is not a scientific theory- it contributes no new information, suggests no mechanism, makes no predictions and basically holds science in general back.

  • NICE

  • Great video.

  • Awesome vid! Tho I was a young girl at the time, I still remember the day he died. :(

The new Ares 1 rocket, that will carry the Orion crew vehicle, is part of the Constellation Program and will be our new ride to the moon. The Ares is presently scheduled for its first flight test from the Kennedy Space Center in April, 2009. Thanks to the scientists, who are helping to move us all towards a better future. : )

  • I also find it exciting that private industry is beginning to venture into space. Perhaps we are not far away from the time when space flight will become commonplace as airline flights are today. It's about time we take another step into the universe.

  • The tower of babal was a ziggurat, flat toped pyrimid that was higher than all the other buildings in babalon. They did religious built it so they could be closer to heaven.

  • temple of Marduk, specifically, iirc.

  • Nice work thundef00t, I thought of a half decent religion summary for you.

"It's like listening to a fictional book critic thats convinced it's a history textbook"

  • Nice. Science doesn't really receive the respect it deserves - pseudosciences that attack real science with underhanded propaganda are rife, yet it is what real science has given our modern societies that has allowed them the luxury of devoting their time to something other than immediate survival; that has taken a life that used to be "nasty, brutish and short" and made it much less so, in every respect. How many of us would be dead today had it not been for science?

  • Who did the music?

  • "Who did the music?"

I think it is Vanessa Mae playing, but the music is a piece by Giuseppe Tartini called "Devil's Trill". According to wikipedia, Tartini said the devil played it for him in a dream.

  • i've said it before and will utter till my death. hummantity will forever be greatly in debted to science, math and technology which are the very pillars upon which modern civilzation rests. everyone should stop kissing the asses of celebrities and honor and pay hommage to great scientific minds and follow their lead, for they are the reason we are where we are today.

  • Hmmm....Thinking about the tower of Babel and spacevehicles. Why did God punish people for building a tower that could reach the sky by making them speak gibberish, but fail to punish us when we go trough it and beyond?

Anyone wanna give that question a try?

  • "...'cus god doesn't exist!"

    ~ourben

  • great comment

  • i usually answer it rationally, the people at the time thought heaven was in the clouds, so they made that story up just like the rest of them, besides doesn't the tower of babel take place BEFORE noah? doesnt that make it all moot because their supposed to be one language through noah? ahaha it even SOUNDS like a myth, "Oh no, if the humans get to close to the sky they might turn into GODS! i must stop them" hahaa

  • Actually, the Tower of Babel is after Noah in the biblical myth. (Noah is Gen 6-9; Babel is Gen 11). Nevertheless, noobiepie poses a wonderfully logical question.

  • Creationists will just faze themselves out. It's bound to happen.

  • yeah thanks for going to the moon science. now can you please get back to curing disease?

  • r9nger0ver:

You know science recently got an HIV vaccine ready for clinical trials, right?

  • cool

  • The moon is irreducibly complex.

  • What was that song!?!?

  • ehh a creationist will probably just say, god made the moon and think they have won.

  • Or maybe they will say:

Yes, god made the moon and jesus is at the center frozen in SUPER ice waiting for the rapture.

See how easy it is to make creationist arguements?!

  • your exactly right. I dont know how they cant see that nonsense.

  • I had never heard that speech before. a YouTube user called onemansho does a great impression of it.

  • Oh yeah? Well creationists have made sure that... uhm... that peanut butter is safe to consume, without us having to worry about abiogenesis commencing in sealed bottles of it! Hell yeah!

  • You cannot forget that they have also made saddles that fit dinosaurs! So once we find the dinosaurs that were on the ark, we can ride them around. And also they revealed the deep dark secrets of the horrors held by that dreadful fruit know as THE BANANA.
