Really? I own both a Denon AVR-1610 as well as the previous model to this the SR5004, and both of those are THD 20hz-20khz.
The Denon AVR-1610 is far more the budget receiver and was sub $400 here in the UK, it cost me £250.
There again the £500 Marantz SR5004 only cost me £125, fell lucky on a clearance on new boxed stock so was only $200, instead of $800...sounds like you are paying well over the odds in the US.
Truly one of the best values in the sub-$1000 price range. An very important note on this receiver is that it has discrete amplification on all channels. Many Marantz competitors do not, even at this price level. You can usually spot a non-discrete amp by looking at the specs, if the specs don't give you a THD rating at 20hz - 20khz, chances are you have spotted a non-discrete amp. Many non-discrete amps have specs 1k, 20hz - 20khz. The Marantz SR5005 is the real deal.
