  • Oh my...mercy. Talk to me and for me, Shirley. That went straight to the core.

  • she plays these tunes like she wrote them.

  • NO one does phrasing like Shirley Horn. I absolutely wore this album out. The woman was iconic.

  • 4 am head on i dive in and i say if i make it thru this without a tear im better . but do i know better , yes i do. i have loved no woman as i loved her.

  • This song is a classic by Johnny Mandel, who has written so many great songs. It's really sad and maybe that's probably why I like it so much. The entire song leads to these heartbreaking lyric lines written by Alan and Marilyn Bergman: "And though I don't know where and don't now when I'll find myself in love again I promise there will always be A little place no one will see A tiny part deep in my heart That stays in love with you." Nobody writes songs like this anymore... really!
  • Diana Krall does SO MUCH OF SHIRLEY's repertoire. Almost all of it.

Surely, one of a kind. She took off 20 years from her music, to raise her daughter, then came back.

  • it's time to sit and reflect on the good and bad in one's life. time to slow down the pace of your life. to be happy for what you do have. to let that special ray of moon or sun light touch you in a comforting way. To pick one's self up, and go on down the path...

  • Shirley is a National treasure.

  • Remembering past relationship , remembering past friends , remembering family members .....here's to you.

  • This song really hit me on an emotional level, especially the last lyrics. Ms. Horn, here's to you.

  • When Ella sings "my man is gone" one would think the man has gone to work or to the store... When Billie Holiday sings "my man is gone" You know he is on a plane flying at the other end of the world!

It's all about emotions and Shirley Horn knew how to do that. Her music is simply fantastic and there will never be another one like her.

  • This is the voice of a real woman. You hear all the twists and turns of her life in her voice. Not to mention that she and the piano are one. I am so glad that those who were her contemporaries did not out last her. I was glad that so many people had a chance to discover the American treasure that was Shirley Horn.

  • ....this is the definative SHIRLEY HORN song for me...

I love this...the strains of the violins to the piano chords...virtual leaves falling ...autumn, reflective.

    Champion.

    Thanks

  • I hear ya.

She makes me feel, well... grown.:)
