This sequal is an inventive retelling and follow to the original. Its good to know they still are capable of making great Scifi films like in the old days early 1980s. The reunion of Father and Son, was particularly engaging and intelligently done. A truly great film, that will be remembered as fondly as the original. Tron is a cult film in the scifi community. Like trekkie fans. This movie is tribute to that cult following.I would say the best film of 2010,2011 I am biased because I like Scifi.

I never thought in our cgi movie era they could make movies as engaging and full of the human element like they used to make in the early 1970s and 1980s. This movie is one of the best sequels I've seen. Comparable with Empire Strikes Back after Star Wars. Being a huge fan of the original I thought in 21 century era they would butcher it. But they have made an admirable extremely good sequel as good as if not better than the original. They didn't copy the original but made totally new movie.5 *

Years later Sam is trying to find out what happened to his dad when he gets sucked into a computer as well, and he obviously runs into trouble in the computer. It has to do with the first TRON.

Damn, if you have this kind of money for graphics, you should be able to think of a better storyline. Take an example to the first matrix movie, much less graphics, but the storyline is 10 times better and it has a similar concept. And BTW whats up. This movie makes no sense at all, especially at the end where they are trying to prevent 1000 guys entering this world. Even if they did enter, they would have never conquered the world. @Crazy101Guy Your correct in that Tron was based off of Alan but not about the two discs,if you were correct the same would be for CLU consitering he is a programed based off of Kevin Flynn,but the real reason Tron has two discs is because in the fight where CLU first went traitor,Tron defeated his guards and took one of their discs,so know he keeps two with him.

Though, you might FEEL sympathy for CLU, if you THINK about it, you still realize he is evil and dangerous as a result of his hurt feelings toward Flynn. This is where my "Sympathy for the Devil" stops is when I start thinking about what he has done and the awful unintended consequences of Flynn's intentions.

It shows how intent is translated in different ways to create the horrors of our reality while we believe we are doing what is best.  I felt sympathy for CLU because he is essentially Satan. Satan (CLU) was created for a purpose, he felt betrayed by other creature's (human's/ISOs) existence and he sought to rebel against God (Flynn) and damn/kill the seemingly favored creatures (humans/ISOs). This is where this analogy ends pretty much.

B) Matrix Trilogy covers many (possibly too many) philosophical topics where as, TRON: Legacy builds off the foundation set by the first movie while becoming its own movie dealing with one flawed human philosophy & aspiration: perfection. Both franchises are a different spin on our same old philosophies which lie under each movie we watch through the years. C) This film dealt with the flawed wishes of humanity for perfection/peace.

I saw both movies (TRON & TRON: Legacy) for the first time in my life back-to-back. I have no real bias, so let me tell you what I do have: A) Matrix doesn't really factor into TRON. TRON preceded, succeeded and superseded the Matrix Trilogy = Dwarfs the decent Matrix Trilogy.

If you notice the opening cutscene in the Matrix with the cops, its very similar to GITS opening. The characters.Trinity is like Motoko, Morpheus is like Batou, see any similarities? Matrix is a rip off Ghost in the Shell.
