You wouldnt be moaning and complaining if it was your sopping that this driver was delivering. you do his job for a week and see if you can do better! dont blame the driver, blame the customer for not sending him to the delivery bay! those drivers have tight slots and are expected to work miracles!
So if you are blocked by a cyclist at the beginning of the day, later on you will illegally block a completely unrelated set of cyclists just to make your point. How do you react when you've been blocked by cars? Or is it only cyclists you dislike? You don't seem to have read the highway code at all. Quote me the section which says you are allowed to deliver from a cycle path with double red lines. More cyclists=less cars=less congestion=you getting around town quicker. What's your problem?
this company will give its drivers 7 mins to deliver 20 odd bags of groceries to a 5th floor flat with no lift and nowhere to park bus lanes etc .they are forced to park illegally by an employer who treats its drivers like shit.
I have seen a police car parked blocking a cycle path in my town because the bastards were too lazy to park on the other side of the street and cross the road. Wasn't even an emergency call, they just went for a walk around the church yard. Well, I didn't hear or see a commotion in the church yard as I passed.
@JUVEXX11 indeed its the same for ASDA deliveries also, though asda drivers are told to park as near to the property as possible no matter what it obstructs, even if its double yellows - they would rather pay a fine than park further away
@JUVEXX11 exactly. I hate the English public, they are ignorant and love to complain and kick off. The most so un-righteous nation of people on earht and yet they expect such perfection and righteousness from everyone else. Even the black English people are fucking idiots too.
What many people dont realise is that we are not allowed to park great distances away and walk it to the door, the van has to be in clear sight for as much time as possible, flats are an exception. We are also allowed to by LAW to block any road we wish where there is no alternative, and that includes cycle paths, for a maximum of 20 mins, 15 if you are carrying chilled.
@EMOtionalyFragile HWC rule 243. "Do not stop or park where you would obstruct cyclists use of cycle facilities". Please tell me were you studied law?
@zivkovicable fact is he is neither 'stopped' nor is he 'parked'. He is delivering, there is a difference. How about this then, when cyclists cycling down lanes and narrow streets get out of the way for motorists I will stop delivering on cycle paths, how does that sound?
@EMOtionalyFragile That's just crazy talk. He has clearly stopped, otherwise he would be moving. As for getting in your way, cycling eases congestion, while four wheeled transport causes it. I'm sure that you spend more time stuck behind cars than bikes. Obey the law & stop delivering on cycle paths, how does that sound?
@EMOtionalyFragile Sounds pretty stupid, like you're not taking responsibility for your own actions. You're saying that because other people break the law you will too. You shouldn't be on the road.
@zivkovicable That is not what I'm saying. I'm saying there is give and take. If a cylist gives way to me when they should do I would be less inclined to obstuct other cyclists later on in my day, but cylists make no effort to obide by the Highway Code. I've since moved and where I am now there are no cycle paths in areas I would deliver in. The only thing to obstruct is other motorists when delivering down narrow streets with no parking, even then you get shouted at by cyclists.....
@soton000 precisely my point. When im out making deliveries I will usually park as close to the delivery address as humanly possible. If that means blocking cycle routes, or pavements I will, especially if there is no better place to park within the allotted distance.
But if he parked on the red route no doubt motorist would be complaining, give him a break hes making a delivery he wouldnt be there long ,not his fault someone is to lazy to go to the supermarket themselves!
@TYNSDALE He is parked by the entrance to an underground car park, near an large area he ould park which is not pavement or cycle path (shown on the right near the start of the video). He could have easily put the van there rather than blocking the cycle path.
@westcountrytim Theres normally a height restriction in car parks. I'm not really sure why your so angry about this, you cycled round the van with no problems.
I carry some bristol cycling campaign leaflets for such vehicles, stick them under the windshield. Clearly the driver appreciates the bike land -so maybe they will want to help the campaign

@JUVEXX11 No one is holding a gun to the drivers head and saying "PARK ILLEGALLY BITCH!" so don't give me that trash.
