@dubstepfrenzy You should go for it! The best part is that you can combine hooping and poi into mini hoops! Just remember its all a process and you can do anything you try hard enough at! :-)

@sparrowhoops You know what? I saw some fire dancers at a Festival about 6 years ago. That moment changed my life. I decided to teach myself, and yes I evolved with it, and continue to evolve to where I am now. Its a been a beautiful path thus far, and Im stoked to see where it will lead!

The minis were about 22 inches. Now im using 20 inches, but Im 6'1", a foot taller than you! I would go with like an 18 inch mini hoop... Try it!  :-)

Thank you! Ive been hooping for about 4 years now. I started spinning poi first, so during those first 2 years while I spun both poi and hoop, I focused much more on the poi. The last 2 years, Ive definitely been connecting to my hoops, and multiple hoops a lot more. Im just super grateful to have discovered spinning. :-)

Hmm.. Tips. Well, I would say an important thing to remember when learning to move & spin with poi hoops, remember to have a controlled, but loose grip on the hoop. You need to be able to change directions and let go of the hoop allowing it to spin in your hand. Remember to allow your wrists to move, bend and flex, this will allow you to turn easier. Those moves you were talking about are similar to the forward & backward weave with poi.
