So Ryoma imitate his father...ok, so what? i don't see why that is a problem? i copy Yao Ming's skills and movement and the way he plays basketball. Why is that a problem. We always imitate our idol. No. It's much more than that. From the beginning of the series, it's been shown time and time again that Long Ma feels like he can control NOTHING in his life. He never wanted to go to leave America, he never wanted to attend Qing Xue, he never wanted to join the team, and his father is always butting in on his life. He feels like he can control nothing. Now he feels like he doesn't know if he really likes tennis, because learning to play it was not something of his own choice.
And now the Er Dao Lu issue has brought Long Ma's problems to the surface. He doesn't even know if what he is playing is the tennis HE wants to play, or the tennis he learned from his father. He just wants to control SOMETHING in his life at this point. Remember, Long Ma's been playing tennis from a pro(his pops)since he can walk, so it's very natural to him. This is why he doesn't like to lose to anyone. Now he doesn't know if he's starting his own legend, or just living off of his father's.
He was cooler in the anime, that happened in the anime too. Tezuka beat Ryoma by even more though and at the end he didn't cuddle Ryoma like in this, he just stood there like a god and said "Become Seigaku's Pillar"
this is cool. haha. i'm watching this right now along with Seigi no Mikata. Long ma here and Kanata Hongo (Ryoma in the JapVersion) there. LOL. They're both uber cool. (^_^)
It was fast since Tezuka is wayyyyyyyy stronger at this point. Shusuke is stronger aswell, Tezuka in the anime at this point was fricken god even with his broken arm. In the anime, I think Tezuka even won by more probally, but they make the others so weak in comparison, like they gave someone with Shinji's skill, if not weaker, and place the rank of captain on him and say he's kippei. Kippei is a national level player, he was one of top 2 strongest is Kyushu.

Actually, the fact of Ryoma loosing is fine to me. I mean, he HAS to experience loss (aside from his father) at least once so that he can learn.
