for me it´s a pity it, the BPO don´t record operas in Blu-ray, I have " the walkire" of Aix by BelAir with Rattle and Westbroek, and your sound is amazing, sorry, my english is not good
@gera1262 In the original autograph score thats preserved the scoreing is for 2 horns. However some orchestras choose to double both parts, in my opinion this upsets the balence of the smaller string section.
Classic music is classic, the name says everything. :P I don't really like when people pass on bad comments about such nice music like this only because they like another type of music. This is hard to play and we have to be thankful to these people that they have written and played such good music and probably practised a lot to gain the effect :))
Pinnok ist echt ein Wunderbarer Musiker wie Harnoncourt! dirigiert moderne Orchester auch so wie gut wie Barockoschester! das ist nicht so einfach fuer HIP Dirigenten!
Not a whole lot actually. The viola is four-stringed and in the violin "family." It is larger than the violin and is very often just referred to as a tenor or alto violin. In contrast, the violin is capable of attaining higher pitches and remains the "treble" instrument of the family. Linguistically speaking, the Italian word for violin (violino) is a diminutive of the word viola.
@Agilthoniel The Viola sounds ALOT different to the violin, what are you talking about? Why else would chamber music pass material between the 2nd V and the Vla when it doesn't need to? A violist must be able to play in treble cleff, undoubtedly. One can tell a viola from a mile away - personally, I love its rougher, scratchier, somehow more wholesome and passionate sound - but just look up 'viola jokes' on google to get an idea of how different it is to the violin.
On this fragment: perfection, even on my questionable computer sound system! Beethoven- the essence of perfection to the highest realms of spirituality.
My mother, a pianist and fine musician, semi-paralyzed in a Montreal hospital, thanks to medical bungling, unable to speak or move, on hearing Beethoven's 9th Symphony from my CD player at her bedside, having never uttered an audible word in 7 weeks, raised her arm skywards and clearly said, with emotion, "WONDERFUL"!
mozart had put something in his music, a special feeling which is not to discribe just wonderful !!!! everytime i hear the 40th my heart is beating in an other rythm and adrenaline goes through my veins
Mozart never wrote anything "assuming" or "artificial".There are two rare creatures that could conceive of anything Mozart wrote as bad, those who think American Idol is a keen source of artistic judgment and those who have spent too much time in academia who can only write fart sounds because they imagine people like Mozart to be outdated. Regardless of their credentials those types are more suited to American Idol than anything else,no matter how many certificates acacdemia gives them.
@TemperedWell you may as well say beer is proof of god. i agree the music is heavenly, but very much a human construct. no need to resort to hyperbole.
Are you comparing the bitter taste of beer and it's belching flatchulence with the depth of emotion and intellectual conveyance of music? You might as well compare a gopher to a woman if you compare those two.
Not that a good beer isn't tastey. Gophers have there uses too, but I would never compare one to the beauty of a woman.
Dude, just because you like to actually sit there and think but sucking dicks but don't want to let anybody know how friggin' queer you really are doesn't mean you care about others or that you are humble or "deep". It means that your a phony conformist undercover fag who thinks it's a front to actually truly love women and that all metaphor has to be oriented around gay shit or it confuses you. So SHUT THE FUCK UP!
Pinnock in Berlin ?! O tempora etc. :) :)Bohm/Karajan etc must be rolling in their graves. In Osborne's book on Karajan he quotes Rattle , in the conext of a possible performance in Salzburg,as saying Karajan was courteous and charming over the phone.... till he suggested conducting a period orchestra...when he heard this Karajan hung up on Rattle !! Well done Berlin Phil ! Good for you.
The music is awesome...Great performance! Unfortunately, the audio track lags behind video track...it´s out of sync a little bit...for instance, check at 0:20...did anyone else notice that as well? Did YouTube screw something up or is it something with my computer? I´ve got pretty good internet connection though...

@Jannacek As far as I'm aware, it is not that the Vienna Phil. doesn't hire women, but that it doesn't (or didn't, I'm not sure of the present situation) conduct 'screened auditions' (wherein a partition separates the player from the panel). This is obviously an implicit way of saying "we do care what colour your skin is, how old you are, what your sex is etc.". But I believe they screen their auditions now.
Yes, he looks a bit like him. But in fact, this is Gaspare Vittorio Buonomano, a scholarship holder of the Orchestra Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Is that where the orchestra gets a majority of its extra and substitute players? I'm always wondering ... because in a lot of the videos, the principals are replaced and so are the assistant principals.
Substitutes come both from the Academy and from other orchestras. It is a bit unusual that members of the Academy play at the first desks, but as you can see here, there are exceptions.

Music so beautiful, that even a new born child will start moving its finger's and twitching it's toe's.
Music so eternal, that even an old man in the twilight of his life will wipe away his tears and smile while stepping into the eternal darkness beyond.
Music to celebrate with.To work with.To make love with.
Music that will still be playing like a benediction, when the lights are finally extinguished on Mother Earth by some terrible fury of nature or man.
