Well,he does not say anything in detail and he pretty much confuses you,but I have ,not in perpose,put my fingers as far in as I could in my fingertip bowling ball and it indeed gave me a bigger hook than usual (I think what he tries to instruct is rights,but it might just be my imagination...)
i was told that (instead of your thumb) your fingers are the most important thing in throwing curve.... all the higher players here are using special grips in the fingerholes to create those revs (you'll hear a "plop" sound when releasing the ball). i'm just a beginner, so excuse me if i'm wrong.....

well if it is on your thumb, then it means that the pitch on the ball is wrong....u need to talk to the pro shop owner about that....and if u get cuts on your fingers, then you need to expect cuts when u throw the ball with more finger... a lot of bowlers at my alley put a lot of finger in the ball and their fingers are jacked up
I know it was 6 months ago, but hopefully this will help. I had the same problem w/ my thumb. My pro shop guy beveled out the top of my thumb hole so it wasn't so sharp. Problem solved. If it's not that then you must be really gripping it! Try to just relax your thumb throughout the whole swing. The ball won't fly off your hand if it's drilled properly. good luck.

see i do what Jim does and i got a cut on the inside of my thumb(my ball is fingertipped)..... how do u think i should place my hand in the ball??
