they're not automatic, they have click gears behind the wheel, watch when he slows intot he shicanes. also how do you means they're shit, i don't seem to see a problem with them, it's hard enough controlling the cars.

When Senna drove with them he even said he preferred it as it was much safer at the speed they were doing.

if he didn't feel respect to older drivers he wouldn't make it to 3rd place in his third F1 race. he's been racing since young kid.
