@sg047133181 This doesn't matter as much as it does with other movements. It's popular to exhale on the most difficult part (the concentric, lifting part) so breathe out as you go up, in as you lower yourself down, I assume.
I lack a few months to 16 years and I eat it to do pull ups but after making the lumbar area of my back is much peanuts that is not to warm up before or is still too young to do and does harm to my back, I weigh 60 kilos and 1.77 m, who is helping me understand this subject, thanks
These bitches on youtube talkin bout down on people just to make themselves feel better. STFU! If u dont like to watch it why bother to leave hate comments. Btw, your pull up is perfect.
slimkt, both the pull-up and the chin-up work the back muscles and the biceps. However, the bicep is emphasized more in the chin-up and the pull-up emphasizes the forearm more.
@nickav1987 muscle confusion is a made-up term to sell p90x. save your money and just do some investigating on your own. youll find programs that are more effective than p90x for free
When i do pull ups with my hands shoulder width, i do a lot but when wide its definitly harder, can anyone tell me what is the right way, or did i build my back muscles to do more reps with shoulder width?
Depends what u want: Chin ups i think are more for biceps n lats, where as pullups are more lat focussed, with wide grip being even better for lats as well as being harder. Well that probably didnt really help lol
You can do pull ups with a partner who will hold your legs, while you do pull ups, that way you'll be able to do a few pull ups. Keep working that way until you are a able to do pull ups on your own.
is it possible to gain muscle by doing pull ups everyday? i have the iron gym and i do alot of pull ups everyday. should i narrow it down alittle or would i be gaining the way im doing it now?
it is possible to build muscle everyday.....but.....doing the same excercises eveyday only creates more problems. Remember 70% of gaining muscle is a heathly diet, 15% training, AND 15% REST!!! I recommend u have intervals of resting days between workouts. This wil improve the form or shape of your muscle, and reduces overtrainning from occuring. Hope that answers your question.
yeh, you want to avoid locking your joints at the bottom of the pull up. when at the bottom of the pull up, keep your shoulders engaged by pulling your shoulders down. also, keep a bit of tension in your arm muscles so that your elbows don't extend all the way down.
its worth noting that this type of pull up works your lats and mid back as well as forearm, biceps and stabilising muscles
With the underhand grip, the biceps come more into play, but unlike what that idiot said below it does not ISOLATE your biceps (there is no way you can curl your body weight lmao). Your back will still do a lot of the work.
it works forearms, triceps and your shoulders. chin-ups or underhand pull ups work out your biceps and never lock out your elbows (go all the way down) you wants them to have a slight bend
@Ikefis I can only assume you're feeling the long head of the tricep, which is a shoulder extensor. If you're feeling the lateral/medial heads, it means you're robbing your elbow flexors of strength.
@z0dit Both over and under hand are called chin ups zod. Both are also called pull ups. There's no logical or authoritative reason we should sanction one term for one grip.
You can get a headache watching a couple of these videos. 1 guy will tell you do it this way another guy will tell you do it another way. 1 fitness instructor will tell you do them slower and another instructor will say do them faster... There are so many variatious to pull ups and chin ups that you have to pick the ones that are best for the muscles you want to build. Just placing your arms wider than shoulder width make a difference on which muscles are emphasized during the work out.
should the arms be shoulder length apart or closer or nearer apart. i want to no how to do the easiest pull up(not chin up) so i can do many in bootcamp
just do it how you feel most comfortable i play football and are coaches make us have our arms shoulder length and bend your elbows and kick your legs because it makes you do more
Wow, one guy says he's too fast, another explains why he is doing them slow. One says locked elbows are good, another says bad. Maybe this just goes to show everyone that people have different ways of working out? Oh, and another person uses words like "pronated" as if everyone knows what that will mean, so quit trying to sound so smart. And if that is your everyday language, then I will say you may come across as arrogant.

I would have to agree with mikecp1856 hes a personal trainor doing a instructinal vid he should of done them slower and no fence he should be showing off his body not covering to show his hard work paying off..
@danharley60 I agree everyone has a variation is exercise techniques, but most people know what pronated means. Using correct terminology isn't arrogant, it's the proper thing to do.
@danharley60 Understanding what pronation is is easy enough if someone wants to google it. It should be known by anyone concerned about arm development.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Your all wrong, first of all the pull up is worng because his hands are in a pronated position not a supinated position. This in turn places the bicep in a weak position therfor it will wear out faster and not give a sufficient work out to the agonist muscle the lats. he also protracts his scaps whilst trying to have full extension of the elbow and loses form, he shouldnt be giving tips on you tube.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wow this guy is a personal trainer huh, i am glad he locks his elbows out on his pull-up what a joke, whoever pays this guy for training is real sucker
Whats wrong with him?He looks pretty muscular. He is doing the pull ups slow so there is more tension on the muscles. And he is using a full range of motion.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
no wrong, full range of motion does not include locking out your arms. He is also going way too fast, he is not recruiting all types of fibers with this kind of movement. His form is fine for an everyday joe, but not for a personal trainer who needs to be teaching this stuff.
As for this guy though... I've seen lots of his other videos. He has absolutely NO clue about exercise or fitness, and obviously got his education from Mucle & Fiction magazine. The fact that he can demonstrate a simple pull up correctly is in itself a major accomplishment for him.

Should I look straight ahead of keep my chin up towards the bar?
What does keep your shoulder blades retracted mean?
Let's say I do 10 sets of 1 or 6 sets of 2, can I do pullups every day?
paleheroes 2 years ago
look up towards the sky at all times.
just go all the way down, all the way up
yes, keep on doing pullups as many as you can throughout the day... once u can do 3 sets of 13 u are more less advanced with it.
