Fluorescent light is green and depressing. I hate it. I'm thrilled to find someone who is annoyed by the same things that drive me crazy. I just joined Youtube today, and I feel the country may be saved by youtubers. This is so great. Thanks
Not to mention the mercury content of the bulbs and the disposal problems. Fluorescent bulbs are much more hazardous. When was the last time that you followed the disposal guideline for a fluorescent bulb?
What's in a incandecent? Tin, zinc, slica, lead, tungsten and some traces of phosphates.
Either way, this law annoys me, too. I assume they have a way to manufacture these bulbs in the same shapes as the incandescent bulbs we use now. Because if not, am I also going to have to by new lamps? Is my landlord going to have to install new light fixtures in my entire apartment complex? I'm just wondering if there are additional "hidden" costs here other than simply the higher cost of bulbs.
Another thing about florescent bulbs (and I may be wrong here)- but aren't they also a pain in the ass to dispose of? I thought I heard a story somewhere (probably NPR) about how people using these bulbs had to send them to special centers when disposing of them. Or maybe that was just if you want to recycle them.

This thinking got us the Patriot Act.

I had to split my comment into 2 parts.
