@Renathra Well depending on where they are fishing, sometimes! When fish companies do business on lakes or something similar, they wear hip boots! They have them for snake, though!
what if the fish take in some of someone's blood and then the next person that does the pedicure right after him may have an open cut (very tiny) .. you can't get whatever disease the other guy has. but it should be a personal choice whether you use it or not and not banned, that's stupid. imo, they should only use one batch of fish on one person a day, they can cycle out batches of fish so that if something is wrong in one, the fish will die instead of pass it on.
Looking at the political scene in the rest of the world, I get the feelling that we Americans really do have a unique strain of self-realiziation ( or onry-ness, as my grandfather used to say), that other cultures don't seem to have as much of.

I blame most of the rise of the Nanny State on one thing: uncontrolled liability Lawsuits and Litigation , The Lawyers have run amok.
i say regulate ur own life. Don't regulate mine! If u want to be irresponsible, u can go ahead & be irresponsible with your own property & crap- whether or not u want to poison urself w/ toxic waste & chemicals, i could care less. But do NOT try to regulate me or infringe on my rights!
Govt inspection does NOT prevent disease or contamination- it LEGALIZES them! ie- look at the EPA, in 'regulating the health & safety of the rivers & water sources', they put an ARTIFICIAL LIMIT on toxic waste dumping. So dirty buisinesses get away w/ toxic waste dumping by spreading it across the board & having the govt say- 'ok u may each dump 100 gallons of pollution only'. Then when people complain about it & try to file suit, those bastards have the PROTECTION of the epa
As for "going Galt", I would be beyond ecstatic if filthy rich jerks like Tony Hayward (BP), Lloyd Blankfein (Goldman Sachs), Pete Petersen (Hell) all fucked off and never came back!
OK the fact that he interviewed that shit while having the fish he's trying to ban clean his feet has made me forever and always a fan of John Stossel.
Very easy to reap the benefits of food safety regulations from the last few decades and then insist we no longer need them...in light of our mass exodus from local produce and introduction of far too many chemical preservatives.
Could this be accomplished by the private sector? PERHAPS. Bad example, but I think of a food equivalent to Arthur Andersen, validating the standards of a restaurant or otherwise food provider.
Certainly there's a religious basis for food standards in Kosher/Halal.
Jeffy better read Rand again he must have been reading Mein Kampf and thought he was reading Rand.. Good call, Nick, saftey without freedom is just slavery with seat belts. Life without freedom is meaningless.
@RatkoUSA In Tom Clancy's "Executive Orders." President Ryan puts a ban on interstate travel because of a biological weapon is released, instead of the virus killing a few hundred million, it only kills a few hundred, but the EO is challenge in court and declared unconstitutional, but it was because of this temporary ban that got people to stay indoors and snuff the spread of the disease. Would you value freedom over a virus with a 80% mortality rate.

Joking aside, people need to actually read the Constitution. They are not teaching it in school and there is no doubt as to why. Our education system is brainwashing people to be dependent on the government.
I was about half way through "Atlas" when Chuck Schumer was on TV telling AIG employees that they needed to give back their bonus money because it was not there money, it was the government's money, and if they didn't give it back, they were going to tax their bonuses at 90%. There is not a better correlation between present day and "Atlas" than this incident with Charlie "Mouch".
Mean To The Fish! WTF does that mean? They're fish! WHO THE FUCK CARES!

@rehwr Agreed... Does this mean all fishermen now have to wear hip boots in the creek so they don't cross contaminate each other???
