  • I'm glad to see you changed waterproof to water resistant.Sounds like going backward is better?Adding 5" coverage at bottom is useless if ice dam backs up water behind it .WATER SEEKS IT'S OWN LEVEL.Instead of spending excess on 5"headlap install a set of Raychem cables in gutter and down the downspouts and loop on roof .Install ice shield below your peanut butter.

  • Is this roof getting gutters installed? Is this roof in northern climate with snow and ice possibilities ?And how is first row of felt set over decking?Did you use Karnak below to adhere felt to deck?

  • The felt is irrelevant. It is installed to keep the water out until the copper is installed. Once the copper is installed, it serves no real purpose. Gutters are already installed. It is in northwestern Pennsylvania - lots of ice and snow.

  • Whoops, I thought you were talking about another video - how to install a copper ice dam. The felt is not adhered to the deck wood with mastic. The first layer of felt is laid dry, then mastic is installed on it, then another layer of felt on top of the mastic. The mastic is sandwiched inside like a peanut-butter sandwich.

  • This is strange, better to use Grace Ice & Water Shield.

  • Any chance of doing a soaker and chimney flashing video ,thanks.
