Love the video, very helpful but I have one problem. My scarf curls in on the edges (like the brims of the hats) for the entire length and I cannot get it to lay flat. I used a # 5 yarn. What am I not doing correctly?
Awesome video! So far, of all the videos I have watched for flat panels on round loom, you have the best instruction. I also like how you catch all the work on video, nothing goes off screen! Keep up the great work. I'll be following the rest of your tutorials as I progress in loom knitting.
Okay, I'm confused about the end stitches. If you only work the two end stitches on every other row, doesn't it make your piece off kilter when you finish? You said, at the beginning that those stitches have a purpose, but you never got back to telling us what that purpose is. Also, Mikey, why the heck are these pegs so far apart, do you know? Is it just so the yarn companies sell twice the yarn in order to make your piece more solid? If so, that sucks!
I'd like to see a video of you doing this at your normal speed so I can see how much faster I can become once I've got the hang of it. I'm an experienced at knitting, sewing and crochet and I wanted to try the loom. Looking forward to getting started.
I have so enjoyed watching your videos, i wasnt sure if this was a craft i wanted to get into, but after watching you do so many beautiful things with these looms, and making it so easy to understand, ive gotten everyone in the house doing it! And hopefully we wont have to jot something down as Ive ripped apart all the pens in the house. Thank you so much for being so creative and explaining things so well. Keep these vidoes coming Hugs!
Thank you for all your help on loom knitting. You are a really good teacher you take it slow and really explain things. I have enjoyed your lessons. I look for your videos more than any others thanks for all the help keep it coming : )
I was having so many problems with the flat panel. Thank you so much for CLEARING them up. Awesome video! Now back to work on my Christmas presents. :}
best vid ive watched for learning something. I have been trying to figure out how to do a flat panel for three days and just now figured it out thaks to your video.
@enaaa0816 try adding two strands of yarn together and then you should see a difference..... the gaps will fill in and it will look much nicer....another idea is to find a thicker yarn like a 5 ply yarn... you will only need one string if your using that and it comes out fabulous!!!! hope this helps
Can you please help me. I have purchased a Learn to knit on circle looms project book from my local craft store here in Australia. I have noticed its an American School of Needle work book . Inside the book it has a project to make a relaxing afghan, i have tryed everything to make this afghan and I cant seem to get it right. Is there any way you can help me get it started. Can you email me please on lgrima07@hotmail.com. I would love to hear from you Mike. I love your tutorials. Lea-Anne
Thank you the great tutorial videos, they are so easy to understand! I haven't ever tried any of these looms before, but I have been looking at them in the craft store. I really love crocheting, cross stitching, & jewelry making, but I think this may be my next experiment. Keep up the good work!
Where did you get this tool? Cause my mom is a great crochet artist & as a young child she have taught me how to do it with only the crochet needles (the long 1s stick ones-don't know the right name of it)...anyway, like I said she taught me but I would never understand it; however, watchin this video & you using that tool looks so much easy 4 me. Can you make other creations other than this 1 on the video with this one wheeling circle tool?
@artistic84chick84 the tool you see here is a knifty knitter round loom.....The set of 4 looms is available at your local craft stores or some walmarts carry them too........
I am trying to knit a scarf using the blue & green looms. The bottoms of them curled and the sides of the scarf on the green loom curled. How do I prevent this?
VIDEO IS VERY HELPFUL! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR SKILLS.! When I knitted small panel on the blue loom & large on the green loom, they each have curled on the bottom and now the scarf on the green loom is curly on the sides. What do I need to do to avoid the curling. Thank you, Tori
...Continued.... Do you have to pull the loops up and over from your lead-in yarn to your last e-loop when pulling the bottom up and over, or can you go from the bottom loop on the peg in front of the last (single) e-loop and go up and over towards the lead-in yarn? Will it pull apart? What will it look like? Plus is there anyway you can do the layover stitch (i think they call it a pearl stitch) on a back a forth project like this?
Hi there Mikey, Love your channel. I'm learning allot. I bought this loom kit for my wife a few years ago but she never really got the hankering for it. So a few weeks ago I was getting board and decided to give them a try. I've made two hats and am working on a blanket (via panels) on a rectangular loom (yes it's working even though it doesn't have a peg in the corner) right now. But I was woundering......Continued........
@SuperBAGIRL .... No sorry.... mikey doesnt have any videos for rake knitting boards there may be some on youtube or you could try google and see what you can find that way!
I have been searching and searching... I just started loom knitting and I want to make dishcloths. The first one I tried to make was on a rectangular loom. The cast off ended up looking horrid and shorter than the other end? Would it be better to use a circular loom? Signed in on your website and love it! Any advice for patterns and/or suggestions would be so helpful... ty ty Looney Loomer
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so easy to understand... I have knit many hats in the past few days and now I can work my way towards a baby blanket. Thanks again!!!!!!!!
I am making a scarf using your instructions for making a flat panel on a round loom, but my scarf still curls up a bit down the sides. Any tips? Thanks in advance. =o)
I found the same thing... I am guessing that maybe because it's on a circular loom and the wool is being stretched on a curve when making it... I switched over to a flat loom...
I was doing a tutorial earlier this week doing a flat panel but I wanted the curvature... works... I seen people advertising doing flat loom, I followed the same directions but I don't know if they experience the same thing afterwards...
Well, I only have round looms at this moment, but will purchase the rectangular ones very soon. Oh, there is another user that posted a flat panel on a round loom... I think her name is purlingsprite... could you check out her method and maybe do a vid with your interpretation. Please? =o) Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much for making this video!! I had heard about making panels on a round loom but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. I found one other video on how to do it, but it was a strange and confusing method that didn't make any sense. This method makes perfect sense and perfect panels! Thank you so much :D
Do you cast off the same as you would on any other peice? I'd appreciate the help. This will be my first attempt at making a flat panel on a round loom. It's for a scarf. Thanks in advance. =o)
you never explained the purpose for leaving the last stich with just one stitch and not 2 like the rest. what is the purpose? do you have other patterns for scarfs using the round loom? thanks again.
This is by far the best video I have found on making a flat panel-and trust me, I've looked everywhere! How about one on how to cast off the flat panel when you're finished?
I have to say that your video is the best. I love it. I have had my looms for a long time and became so frustrated with trying to learn the flat panel that I just put them in my closet. Thanks to your video, yippeee, I will be getting them out once again to try.
