should check apex beat as causes of a non-palpable apex beat are pleural effusions, pneumothorax and emphysematous bullae - all very relevant to a respiratory examination. Should also check for a parasternal heave indicative of right ventricular hypertrophy which could be caused by cor pulmonale.
I think you ask the patient to say "99" for tactile fremitus. You ask the patient to say "e" for egophony and auscultate at the same time. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
