@illincrux - too bad the device doesn't fit your hands. I guess with devices like this it is also a matter of 'physical taste and language'. I use my device with pleasure. I can understand though that good support in more applications is a big plus. Personally I need it only for Blender, so I'm fine. Most other work I do with keyboard, I try not to use mouse much even ;)
@Doclolwut - the powermode term refers to using the device together with a tablet. In that sense all the versions have the powermode capability.
In the video I'm using a quite old Trust Slimline Widescreen tablet. Not state of the art, but one can still use it for even this type of work. If I were to buy a new tablet and I'd have the budget for it, I'd find a tablet with good response and accuracy. The Trust tablet has a very jumpy pointer when trying to work on small details with short strokes
What tablet are you using? I'm really interested in buying your 3D mice. Do all of them have power mode, or just the one used in this video? And finally, do all tablets have the function of moving the mice around with a light touch, and then using a brush with a more heavy touch?
I've spent a week calibrating this device and never has my left hand ached so much. This device is junkware and I see no productivity benefits to using it whatsoever.
I've gone back to using my Belkin n52te with my left hand which works with every application, has a greater amount of functionality/programmability, and best of all, it doesn't kill my hand. Even though it's not a 3D mouse, I find the thumbstick to be a lot more useful and has the added benefit of being able to use modifiers.
Update on the branch code: It has been merged to the mainline of Blender development now. It should be available with the upcoming Blender 2.59 release.
@Hatterific - spacenav integration is still being done in a branch, but by the looks of it, this will be in the upcoming Blender 2.59 release (barring any huge problems with merging the work back into the mainline of the Blender code).
Does the spacepilot not work for the latest release of blender? Are there special releases? I followed the directions for the plugin, but didn't seem to work for me.
@KeistasZmogells, it means you don't have to exactly that: click outside model and rotate. It means you can keep orientation of your right hand, meaning you do less unnecessary travel with that hand.

It's so fluid...

That would be insanely useful for me right now. Do you have to use the device you're using or would a game control be supported too?

@Tehrasha for Windows 64bit I have a build on Graphicall, search for build 436 or search for jesterking
nletwory 7 months ago
Are there any compiled binaries for this anywhere?

@mangojambo, the merwin-spacenav branch compiles and runs also on OSX and Linux.

Is it only for Windows or it works on OSX and Linux?

Personally I don't see how this could be any more comfortable then the 'click outside model to rotate'. :/

ZOMG, time for another hand or two.
Evolution: GO!
(E.g. use your 2D-, 3D-mouse, tablet and keyboard at the same time)
