This person has no idea what he is going on about, i mean really, with a big exaust it clears out the engine which makes you have better emmissions and creates about 3hp, get your facts right, and all that other shit is aload of bollax
@crackerstolemybike Thats where your wrong. Its a common mistake for people to think that spoilers provide downforce. They dont. Ther designed to do what there called. Spoil. They spoil the laminer air flow which travels over the car and is turned into turbulant air flow which is directed behind the car reducing low air pressure. This stops rear winderscreens getting so dirty from sucking up dirt due to the vacume. And reduces the backwards force acting on the car. Airfoils provide downforce.
Its funny cause he said not spoiler on FWD cars. I have a 97 honda civic and it oversteers more than understeers. Basically all FWD race cars have wings. They help alot.
@Jinppa Don't worry I got your comment in an email! Very good point well made. I think though as a general rule they aren't needed in said situation, especially the un-engineered lumps of plastic, or fibreglass at a push, that we see adding weight if anything else.
It's not for the acceleration traction actually, but for safer, more stabile braking at high speeds. Short wheelbase combined to light chassis can be little bit tricky to brake hard around 200km/h or more. Peugeots especially tend to be tail happy cars, despite being FWD.
the part about front wheel drive cars not benefiting from a spoiler isnt completely correct, for any car to handle well at high speed you need equal downforce on front and rear of the car, if there isnt any on the rear it will spin out at high speed corners. but to be fair a saxo is never going to achieve cornering speeds where downforce would make any difference. small cars like this (saxo, fiesta, clio ect) are junk, any half decent car will monster them on any road or track
has it occurred to you that most of these modders are more concerned with looking cool than going fast? and if you've ever driven a saxo you'll know they can be quite tail happy, so a spoiler isn't completely pointless, although most of those are just for show and give no downforce anyway.
Even though the guy who made this video is telling the truth, it's not all about speed and BHP. style is a big factor aswell you know.. if not the main. BHP means fuck all with the road laws today.
In your picture thats a wing not a spoiler, there is plenty of reason to want downforce on the back of a FWD car. It may not add traction but it does add grip or maybe the F1 teams should take there front wings off because theyre not on the driven wheels. Larger WHEELs do not affect acceleration only larger tyres do that, usually larger wheels are fitted together with low profile tyres so the overall diameter remains the same or very similar.Theres problems with the rest but i have ran out of...
You are just propably some ignorant americunt who drives his van/truck/"muscle" with big V8 with shitty mpg and then comes to Youtube bash small cars that are fun to drive and in contrast still have great mpg ratings. Sad. You really are so spoiled, you have no idea how much gas costs in europe compared to U.S.
For example, in Finland gas costs $8.30 per gallon. Think about it.
@Jinppa No, I just have a little thing called taste, and driving an egg between soccer practice and piano recitals doesn't seem all that fun to me! I could care less what the price for gas in Finland is. If that was the case, I'd ride a bike to work rather than drive aforementioned egg.
@Jinppa what about the 309 GTI? just a 205 with wider track and better weight distribution, probably one of the most underrated hot hatches, especially if you drop a GTI6/VTS engine in it. and all i can say about saxo haters is they must be jealous cos they spent shitloads more money on overweight crap handling cars.
@Jinppa a 106 is not the best hatchback in the world are you mad? best hatch probably a VW Corrado or a Golf GTI ..... more like i have just showed you you didnt know fuck all about a car let alone how a engiine works....
Can I get that in english too? Atleast Top Gear, which is mostly entertainment, says 205 GTi is way better than Golf GTi and 106 GTi is better than Polo GTi, so does Fifth Gear and every other car show I have ever seen. Corrado is actually too big to be thought as a hatch, it's more of a coupe, despite the large trunk opening. G60 weighs 1115 kg, when both 205 and 106 are less than a ton, actually more like 900 kilos. It's you who don't know fuck about cars.
@Jinppa A VW Corrado is still counted as a hatchback coupe. French cars normally fail their MOT under their 3 years from new. A Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione II is better then a 205 GTI because the the standard 205 GTI was not 4WD only the T16 was. it is you that don't know Fuck about cars. Saxo & 106 are chav cars where i live. shown in the video above. installing spoilers on a cars that is too slow and causing drag doesn't improve fuel efficiently. making them in america RICER CARS
Comparing Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione II to Peugeot 205 GTi? It's like comparing Audi A4 to R8 or Gallardo. Compare that Lancia to 205 T16 and then it's fair. Check the price tag, fucking idiot. Again you proved you don't know shit about cars. If you are comparing cars, atleast do it to same price class cars. Everyone knows already Bugatti Veyron is better than Lada 1200.
GTi models come with spoilers from the factory, what you say about that?
@Jinppa yeah still comparing the 205 T16 with Lancia , the Lancia would still win its a better car ,unlike a unreliable French price of shite its would not rust as much as a French cars ..... did it ever come across your mind why French cars are lightweight ? because they use so shitty metal so thin and shit ... hardly like they going to use any carbon fibre for that piece of shite saxo's & 106 are shite built, ur only saying french cars are good is either your french or you drive a french car..
I actually have had several different cars, and it has always been the other cars than Peugeots that have rusted. For example, Mercedes 300 used to rust way more. The reason is Peugeot has used zinc galvanization on chassis since 80's, which you clearly didn't know (again, lol). Lightweight comes from minimalistic interiors (and smaller models don't have much car accessory on them). Same age Opel Corsas weight just as much, Ford Fiestas too. 'm not french btw. Are you italian? Haha.
Hot air doesn't contain less oxygen than cooler air, its just less dense, which reduces your volumetric efficiency (how much air can be rammed into cylinder) which in turn reduces power.
that black saxo on white wheels looks awesome..and no i am not a chav..i have a job and i at college studying A-levels..i absolutely hate it when people judge other people on what their car looks like, personally i love saxo's 106's and corsa's that have modifications (i mean like, larger exhaust, nice rims&some interior styling, not snowplough bodykits)
about the last point; back boxes make no difference to bhp on any car. you can only gain hp from the exhaust if you increase the diameter of the whole system
You need to change the name of the video to "how not to turn your car into a track car" Not say this isnt how you modify cars. Modifying cars is changing it from factory standard to something else. You are basicly saying that everything on the above is completly wrong and incorrect, everything is down to the owners prefrence not what you say. If you want to turn your car into a track day car then yes you are correct, otherwise you are wrong. boring shit video but i 17yr who knows everything
haha love how people are saying by fast cars in the first place. For a new driver its costs about 3k for insurance on a 1.2 so the reason people do this (including me, big up the saxo boys) is cause its cheap im paying 1200 for insurance and i paid 1300 for the car. and people saying they wont do more than 70 haha dont know anything about cars though. probs dont even drive i do agree about air filters though
I do not DO NOT understand one thing: WHY MODIFY SHITTY 1.0l Saxo or 106 ? WTF ? It's womens car for shopping or other girly stuff, why the fuck would you modify something that wont go faster then 70mp/h? OMFG LAME LAME KIDS
All of your tips are referencing subject issues. A rear spoiler may not help in drag racing a front drive care, but does add significant down force for auto cross, time attack, and open road racing. Larger rims with less tire side wall removes more tire variable from your suspension tuning and in ultralite rims reduces weight (tire rubber is heavy). I like both types of cars. I have a 500whp 1995 Chevy Caprice and 300whp 2012 Mazdaspeed3. Both have rear spoilers/wings.
@ClubAnimal1 First example with the spoiler with say a Honda Integra they come as standard with the car and are much better for the car as they keep the back end down ive known a couple of people to take there spoiler off there Integra and the cornering becomes a lot more sketchy i noticed this video is mainly about a Citroen Saxo though so i guess i cant complain with what he has put about the Saxo.
Barry thinks if he goes to Halfords and buys a cone on the end of a pipe for a tenner he can get 10% more power or something stupid. If it was that easy I think car companies with all the millions they spend on engine design etc would do it in the first place. Proper CAI kits on the other hand will make gains but can be a few hundred quid easy.
Do you have any idea, how much induction kits with cone filters make your car sound louder, especially when compared to stock airbox? Oh wait, you don't. That's the reason why car manufactures don't put those filters on consumer cars.
the term "polishing a turd" springs to mind!!! the spoiler argument thats going on here means shit,if it did work you would see no significance in improvement anyway, unless your thrashing it around a circuit, thats the speed when spoilers and splitters will make a difference, same with if the spoilers dont work and just cause drag, its gonna make no difference to the average guy on the street
@ 0:11 "Adding a rear spoiler to a frent wheel dive car creates drag which slows you down" Actually addind a spoiler will decrease drag and increase down force. So a spoiler on a front wheel drive car is not dumb. The "wing" will make air flow better off your car making less drag. Learn you physics dip shit.
@TheBrandonHowToos No. The wing on a FWD car will actually put downforce on the back of the car, raising the front and preventing the front wheels from pushing the car forward properly.
@TheBrandonHowToos Spoilers provide downforce at the expense of drag. Show me an aerofoil that manipulates airflow without succumbing to friction (and therefore drag) and I will show you a physical impossibility.
Realy funny video but you forgot the most important.. Get a propper car to do the tuning on.. Don't waste you money on a peace of sh't car that whatever you do always will stay a peace of sh't car..
EXCELLENT VIDEO - chavs take note! Removing the CAT reduces exhaust temp and slows down the speed of exhaust gas being forced out. Hotter the better for gasflow. Air filters like K&N have a surface area 13times SMALLER than a paper one, so the holes are massive to flow the same amount of air as an oversized paper one capable of supplying much more FILTERED air than the engine uses at full RPM. Paper=best and the pipes in the housing and overall design reduce noise & increase torque of the engine
@urbex2007 Boy racers/chavs are gullible fools, they have NO idea about gasflow, fueling, filtration or engines. They buy anything that a team of clever sales and marketing people aim at them. They go for a 17year old with a 1.1 saxo or 1litre Corsa and claim parts can increase BHP. The chav buys the bits and confuses NOISE with POWER, noise from an air filter like a K&N just means *RESTRICTION". I have done lots of research & development - really the best bits are the ones from the factory!!!!
@urbex2007 you forget that the difference in design of a K&N air filter allows them to filter out more particles than a paper element air filter does, and it's silly to say that paper is better than gauze filters without knowing anything about the vehicle, its maximum intake of air, room in the engine compartment, and location of the filter. for a given size of filter, gauze will flow cleaner air, or more air, so on average they would be preferable to paper.
Spoilers are there to push down the rear wheels of a RWD car to add grip. If you've put a spoiler on a FWD car then you're lifting the front wheels off, reducing grip and increasing weight. There is less than no point in doing it, and it looks RIDICULOUS
adding a spoiler to any type of car is going to slow it down. the purpose of the drag from a spoiler is to keep your car from flying off the ground at high speeds. so if your car cant do 200 mph, a spoiler is going to be useless
@ihatej00poo true but try driving an escort cosworth with no spoiler, its an animal, or even better still, take the spoiler off an old e36 m3, thats not fun
this guy bang on money .i drive a kia picanto no means a race machine but ... i removed back seats all back trim spear wheel got an induction kit the pulls in cool air as in proper place my wheels are same size but lighter alloys .. to europe0wnz for record my car was put on a dyno with and without a performance back boxit was 2 hp faster stock not alot but per tone soon adds up atm it works out its gone from stock 64 bhp per tone stock 78bhp per tone
@europe0wnz A non turbo charged car needs a certain amount of back pressure in the exhaust system. Adding huge exhausts gets rid of the back pressure and can cause lag in acceleration and top end power. Turbo charged cars usually run larger exhausts as they need to get rid of the gases as fast as possible which is why a lot use large side exit pipes.
@TheJackPayne back pressure is only a requiered thing with smaller engines, like briggs n straton 5hp engines. an normal engine that fits in a car turbo charged or not, does not need back pressure. the only thing back pressure helps with, it noise control
This is correct for the most part and works pretty good nowadays that engine management is pretty accurate but on a lot of old carb stuff in particular the the lack of back pressure (normally due to modified exhaust) etc used to cause the the valves to burn out.
Of course it was due to the extra air coming through rather than the actual lack of back pressure in itself.
@MrByootox Another problem is a boy racer/chav with a diesel turbo. They misunderstand how they work and buy a Diesel Tuning Box which sits between the ECU and fuel rail. It multiplies the output from the ECU. It causes thick black smoke from unused fuel during the combustion cycle, makes the exhaust valves stick open, blocks the CAT, turbo, EGR, DPF...it also takes *NO* input from sensors and when the ECU compensates in the cold it gets multiplied & causes damage. SMOKE=BROKE. Chav =idiot!!!!
spoiler on a FWD isnt all that bad...obviously you've never been on a track or else you'd know they help with downforce on turns. smaller is better, bigger is just riced.
@SuPrAmAd101 There is everything wrong with saxos and 106s - they're just shit. For the amount of money the little wankers near me spend on their shitty little cars, I could have bought a much nicer car that was actually designed to go that fast in the first place.
@SuPrAmAd101 the car you're comparing don't have the same age/ mileage/ lifespan etc.. so come back later, and i'm hating the car cause it drives like shit and is unsafe, and they're not cheap to insure, cause they're illegal to insure like a stock car, and when you do a personal quote, they're not so cheap to insure.
@SuPrAmAd101 guess again then, and you can't do only engine modification for the car to be road legal, which brings the price to the price of much safer and funnier cars.
They handle like crap, if you can't see it, too bad for you, not my problem here.
Once modified, they're not cheap to insure, I've got friends in England, France, US, Germany, Netherlands, and after having asked, its not cheap at all....
So I'm guessing that you're from those who think that power to weight ratio equals speed.
@SuPrAmAd101 i'm sorry, i though F1 had high tech materials all over the place, didn't know it was only light.
And we must live in different worlds, to me paying 160% in insurance for a 30hp gain (thats like 20% power gain or close to that) is a useless expense. But hey have fun in your coffin, and try to avoid killing people with you than ks
@iRacingDavid F1 car... V8 engine made from aluminium alloys to keep the weight down..
Carbon fibre body and chassis to keep the weight down... For one reason. SPEED.
Not at all, The price im paying now is the max i would have to pay for this car, even if i did increase performance again, But the reason its costing more is because i also get track day insurance and aftermarket coverage. So alot cheaper than some.
@iRacingDavid I work with high performance vehicles all day long.
The company i work for specalise in JDM vehicles which range from 150bhp all the way upto 1000bhp.
Explain how my gti will kill someone?
283mm gti6 calpiers and disks on front, 266mm gti calipers on back. Enough stopping power.
Unlike some people i dont break speed limits, Hence why i have "track coverage" we are also luck enough to have a big piece of private land near us which is often very good fun.
@iRacingDavid My bad after looking at your channel iv found out that your nothign but a stuck up french cunt... And a geeky little twat who plays NASCAR all day long?
No wonder you know more about your cars....
Big heavy v8s driving round in an oval all day long. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO how fun, You lifeless, geeky, fucking french cunt.
@SuPrAmAd101 Nice comments, and you talk about age haha, you didn't adress anything I've said, except the insurance part, and whats the relation between me being a geek, the fact that you hate NASCAR, and what you think I know? Thanks for insulting me because of my country (but you like the cars my country make..), and because you hate what I like, little you know NASCAR is only one of the things I like, but I won't get into details, as you want to feel better then me, please suit yourself.
@007RoyalFlush saxo's and 106's are decent little cars for a new driver , the reason people buy them is because the insurance is so high on everything else, you really think that kids would be able to buy a sports car and pay about £7000 a year just to insure it , when you can buy a saxo and insure it for about £1500
@shakka219 Yes but they're not cheap to insure with alloys too big for the wheel arches, exhausts the size of dustbins and sound systems that could put wembley stadium to shame.
@007RoyalFlush you dont have to tell insurance company about sound systems and my company are not fussed about alloy wheels they didnt add any price on for them. seems they are only interested in engine mods. im going to get an exhaust put on (not too big or will look rediculous) and i shall get back on the insurance price increase.
@007RoyalFlush They make good track day cars though to be fair. The VTR's lowered suspension and little 1.6 pull pretty nicely, plus the chasis are solid as fuck
@TGTAP Yes but these are neither. They are silly little boys who replace their exhausts with beer kegs, ram speakers into it that would put wembley stadium to shame and wonder why the performance is reduced along with the value.
god theres a lot of 1.0 liter tin cans round where i live that NEED TO WATCH this great vid thumbs up from me altough probally a waste of time as they will only argue it looks cool even though there slowing there car down and to improve cornering you need to lower the car not stick bigger wheels on so great point there.
so if you add a spoiler to a rwd car it reduces weight and speeds you up? god damn, a spoiler an a fwd car helps keep the rear wheels planted while cornering at high speeds.
@mortensen1961 lift? no. with a proper front bumper air also forces the front of the car down. also there is no way a spoiler is capable of liftin the entire front end of a car lol.
Hmm, surely a rear spoiler should help. If going fast enough it will push down on the back of the car round bends. Especially since the back ends of small cars are so light, and the short wheelbase causes it to snap out rather than gently slide. Even the slightest bit of downforce must help. Everything else though, is true. I suppose larger wheels would lead to better MPG though, as the same amount of rotations would take you slightly further.
i really like the chromed exhaust heat shield covering the factory exhaust manifold on the last car. thats what makes a show stopper, the little details like that.
i have a tip aswell, dont buy a 15 year old hatchback, then spend £10k tuning it, spend £10k on a 15 year old mustang and leave it as it is - faster, better looking, more comfy and more fun
hmm, ur not completly right, spoilers can effect positiv results on a fwd car too... whats the difference if ur driving 200kmh with an FWD or RWD? in this case it is just for styling your car, but as an example, Ford Focus RS, fwd and spoiler on it which brings more than positiv results...
someone that actually knows a little something! i run my own auto shop, and i'll have friends come by all the time to show me their "cold air intake" they just installed, and i'm all, umm hate to burst your bubble brotha, but that's a short ram, and then i explain to them the diff, and they usually get upset
the gear ratios are determined by the number of teeth on the different gears inside the transmission and differential.
larger tires just mess up the reading on the speedometer and the odometer..
an engine wont lose hp with a larger ehxaust? it will just sound crappy sometimes...
also, hot air doesnt contain less oxygen.. hot air is less dense than cold air meaning it takes more air to produce the same power as it would with colder, denser air.
@dwnrety1 you're right and wrong about the ratio part, your gear ratio is in the diff/trans, depending on fwd or rwd, but it does change your final drive ratio, due to the fact that the rolling diameter of the tires is changed from stock, so it will change your speedo reading, your mileage will be off so you'd be doing oil changes either too soon or not enough. and ir can dramatically change your fuel economy depending on how much of a change over OEM you've made.
@dwnrety1 and larger exhaust can have a negative effect on power. it all depends on the application, you can't take a stock N/A car and slap a 4" exhaust on it, you will kill all your bottom end, most N/A cars like a little backpressure. but again, all depends on app, and engine size.
@charlietow i actually thought about the final drive ratio after i posted originally but just ignored it..
also, i wasnt thinking like a 4" exhaust on a stock N/A car, i was thinking more of a turbocharged or supercharged application, in which case it would be a pretty noticeable gain in power.
@dwnrety1 oh yeah forced induction doesn't matter, the more boost you're pumpin the easier you need to make it come out. but on N/A i'm sure you've seen those imports that sound like they're goin 100 and they're not even up to 45 yet, that's cause they lost all backpressure and have killed their tq
@dwnrety1 haha that's funny, bet she likes the fact that a car that's more than 20years older then hers smokes her! you did say it's a scion tc...they ain't known for speed
@charlietow yeah, shes not a real speed demon anyway...
although she always yells at her boyfriend for driving like a grandma in his built 03 wrx, and then yells more when he wants to race someone.. lol
but she got the car she wanted(atleast when she got it) she doesnt like it anymore because after the exhaust the check engine light is always on and its constantly in limp mode..
@dwnrety1 did she get rid of the cat? if so she should put it back on, there is no real gain from taking it off, unless you're going all out performance, or forced induction, otherwise it's pointless. or she could get it tuned but that cost a bit, for the software and the tune
@charlietow yeah its a full catless exhaust from the head to the bumper, she has 2 spark plug anti-foulers in the rear o2 sensor which is the one thats causing the CEL and thats supposed to shut off the cel and take it out of limp mode.. i guess she's just dealing with it for now untill whenever..
all that crap makes me glad my car is 24 years old.. i take the cats out of that and it just stinks and i dont pass emissions.. lol
@dwnrety1 i highly recommend puttin the cat back it, cause with it in limp mode, she's killing the motor, it's not bad to have a cel for a little while, but in limp mode the car runs super rich, which kills mpg, and she'll be needin to change her plugs more often, if she put an OE cat back on that thing, i bet she'd shit and the difference. like i said, unless she is goin for balls out performance, and she wants to drop some serious coin, there is no need to remove the cat, seen that alot
@charlietow yeah i figured the cat would probably have to be put back on, but just kind of left that to them to figure out since she doesnt wanna hack up her exhaust..
on her boyfriends super when he went catless he just wired the rear o2 sensor into the one right behind the turbo and that worked somehow.. but thats a 94 so it probaly wouldnt work anyhow.
@dwnrety1 yeah don't do that on an obd2, you can damage the ecm, it either needs a piggy back FC and tune or just put the cat back in it, it's not really hackin anything up either, cut out a section for the cat, weld in the cat, clear the light and roll, i'm tellin you, she'd be happy with that...trust me on this
@farkdat1 If you put this expensive stuff on your car and acualy there for make it slower your quite sad... What will you do? Open the engine room and show your mates your fancy airfilter.. Then one asks what it does and you have to answer: It reduces the BHP.. And it also kills my engine a bit quicker because the air is not filtered as good as normal... Wooowww... Coooool !!!
@dipstick3031 No, you fucking tard. Read the tests, K&N filters are more effective at keeping dust out and only reduce power if you are a complete twat and put it where is sucks in hot air.
Proper Cold Air Induction kits by K&N are used in racing. Most people buy a shitty unknown brand, universal cone filter, bosh it on the inlet manifold right next to a hot engine and expect it to make more power. It won't, but a proper 57i CAI will.
rear wing on a slow car useless but for people that never gone fast enough to need a wing talk about how it doest work on a fwd car makes no sense. wings only work if u doin 100+ and mainly used for rear down-force for high speed turns, stoping i.e. 160 mph-0mph so u can effectively use all four brakes. if u put a wing on a rwd or fwd it does nothing unless u doin 120+ circuit, drag, or nascar events i.e u will never need it in public unless u wanna fly off a brigde
@TheOutlawmaniac downforce is created at a lot lower speeds then 120mph brotha. quick example, when going 70 down the freeway stick your hand out the window and angle so the wind pushes down on your hand, that's downforce, now imagine that on something with a much greater surface area then your hand. that downforce is working, believe it or not. not saying everyone should go out and slap a wing on their wip, but i'm sayin that you're incorrect my friend, a wing does work under 100mph
its about style not speed cuz ya want people to see ya car not fuckin thrashing it around and getting it wraped around a fukin post at the end of the day who gives a fuck about 1bhp out of the car wow put a fukin v8 in it then durrrr
This person has no idea what he is going on about, i mean really, with a big exaust it clears out the engine which makes you have better emmissions and creates about 3hp, get your facts right, and all that other shit is aload of bollax
ClublandmusicVEVO 11 hours ago
well actually rear spoilers on fwd cars arent completely useless, keeps down force on the back end. more grip, which ever way you look at it.

It's not for the acceleration traction actually, but for safer, more stabile braking at high speeds. Short wheelbase combined to light chassis can be little bit tricky to brake hard around 200km/h or more. Peugeots especially tend to be tail happy cars, despite being FWD.

but if you have a spoiler it will make down force for the back tires which improves handling
nottheassman 1 week ago
the part about front wheel drive cars not benefiting from a spoiler isnt completely correct, for any car to handle well at high speed you need equal downforce on front and rear of the car, if there isnt any on the rear it will spin out at high speed corners. but to be fair a saxo is never going to achieve cornering speeds where downforce would make any difference. small cars like this (saxo, fiesta, clio ect) are junk, any half decent car will monster them on any road or track
jplonchay 2 weeks ago
has it occurred to you that most of these modders are more concerned with looking cool than going fast? and if you've ever driven a saxo you'll know they can be quite tail happy, so a spoiler isn't completely pointless, although most of those are just for show and give no downforce anyway.

Peugeot 106 GTi is probably best hot hatch in the world, after Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi... You just showed you don't know shit about cars.

@Jinppa Why are we arguing about which grocery-getter is better?
BWade40 2 weeks ago
@BWade40
Jinppa 2 weeks ago

JTV84 2 weeks ago
@JTV84
Oh yeah, that one too! Absolutely love the 309 GTi 16V (160bhp). I almost bought one actually, too bad they are so rare nowadays.
It's actually pretty cheap and easy mod to take rear axle of 309 and install it on 205, makes even better track car.
Jinppa 2 weeks ago 2
@Jinppa and the wishbones, they give a few degrees more camber on the front ;)
JTV84 2 weeks ago
@Jinppa a 106 is not the best hatchback in the world are you mad? best hatch probably a VW Corrado or a Golf GTI ..... more like i have just showed you you didnt know fuck all about a car let alone how a engiine works....
Dankarlpang 1 week ago
@Dankarlpang
Jinppa 1 week ago
@Jinppa A VW Corrado is still counted as a hatchback coupe. French cars normally fail their MOT under their 3 years from new. A Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione II is better then a 205 GTI because the the standard 205 GTI was not 4WD only the T16 was. it is you that don't know Fuck about cars. Saxo & 106 are chav cars where i live. shown in the video above. installing spoilers on a cars that is too slow and causing drag doesn't improve fuel efficiently. making them in america RICER CARS
Dankarlpang 1 week ago
@Dankarlpang
Jinppa 6 days ago
@Jinppa yeah still comparing the 205 T16 with Lancia , the Lancia would still win its a better car ,unlike a unreliable French price of shite its would not rust as much as a French cars ..... did it ever come across your mind why French cars are lightweight ? because they use so shitty metal so thin and shit ... hardly like they going to use any carbon fibre for that piece of shite saxo's & 106 are shite built, ur only saying french cars are good is either your french or you drive a french car..
Dankarlpang 4 days ago
@Dankarlpang
Haha.
Jinppa 1 day ago
@Dankarlpang I think Saxo and 106 are chav cars all around the world... Haven't yet been on a country where they weren't. :)

Hot air doesn't contain less oxygen than cooler air, its just less dense, which reduces your volumetric efficiency (how much air can be rammed into cylinder) which in turn reduces power.

You need to change the name of the video to "how not to turn your car into a track car" Not say this isnt how you modify cars. Modifying cars is changing it from factory standard to something else. You are basicly saying that everything on the above is completly wrong and incorrect, everything is down to the owners prefrence not what you say.

ClubAnimal1 3 months ago
@ClubAnimal1 First example with the spoiler with say a Honda Integra they come as standard with the car and are much better for the car as they keep the back end down ive known a couple of people to take there spoiler off there Integra and the cornering becomes a lot more sketchy i noticed this video is mainly about a Citroen Saxo though so i guess i cant complain with what he has put about the Saxo.
zonda93 3 months ago
Haha the air filter one!
Barry thinks if he goes to Halfords and buys a cone on the end of a pipe for a tenner he can get 10% more power or something stupid. If it was that easy I think car companies with all the millions they spend on engine design etc would do it in the first place. Proper CAI kits on the other hand will make gains but can be a few hundred quid easy.
trailbossdan1 4 months ago
@trailbossdan1
Do you have any idea, how much induction kits with cone filters make your car sound louder, especially when compared to stock airbox? Oh wait, you don't. That's the reason why car manufactures don't put those filters on consumer cars.

TheBrandonHowToos 4 months ago
@TheBrandonHowToos No. The wing on a FWD car will actually put downforce on the back of the car, raising the front and preventing the front wheels from pushing the car forward properly.
TheKing0fHalo 4 months ago
@TheBrandonHowToos
This only applies if the wing has been developed in a wind tunnel, most wings you can buy have not and do slow you down.
Troll.
Cafferssss 4 months ago
@TheBrandonHowToos Spoilers provide downforce at the expense of drag. Show me an aerofoil that manipulates airflow without succumbing to friction (and therefore drag) and I will show you a physical impossibility.

Paper=best and the pipes in the housing and overall design reduce noise & increase torque of the engine
urbex2007 4 months ago
@urbex2007 Boy racers/chavs are gullible fools, they have NO idea about gasflow, fueling, filtration or engines. They buy anything that a team of clever sales and marketing people aim at them. They go for a 17year old with a 1.1 saxo or 1litre Corsa and claim parts can increase BHP. The chav buys the bits and confuses NOISE with POWER, noise from an air filter like a K&N just means *RESTRICTION". I have done lots of research & development - really the best bits are the ones from the factory!!!!
urbex2007 4 months ago

007RoyalFlush 5 months ago
that first car is my uncles old car!
08sparky08 5 months ago
adding a spoiler to any type of car is going to slow it down. the purpose of the drag from a spoiler is to keep your car from flying off the ground at high speeds. so if your car cant do 200 mph, a spoiler is going to be useless

dogsmods 5 months ago
bigger tailpipes dont mean lest hp. faster the gases can get out, the better. back pressure is bullshit.
europe0wnz 6 months ago
@europe0wnz A non turbo charged car needs a certain amount of back pressure in the exhaust system. Adding huge exhausts gets rid of the back pressure and can cause lag in acceleration and top end power. Turbo charged cars usually run larger exhausts as they need to get rid of the gases as fast as possible which is why a lot use large side exit pipes.
TheJackPayne 5 months ago
@TheJackPayne back pressure is only a requiered thing with smaller engines, like briggs n straton 5hp engines. an normal engine that fits in a car turbo charged or not, does not need back pressure. the only thing back pressure helps with, it noise control
europe0wnz 5 months ago
This is correct for the most part and works pretty good nowadays that engine management is pretty accurate but on a lot of old carb stuff in particular the the lack of back pressure (normally due to modified exhaust) etc used to cause the the valves to burn out.
Of course it was due to the extra air coming through rather than the actual lack of back pressure in itself.
MrByootox 5 months ago
@MrByootox Another problem is a boy racer/chav with a diesel turbo. They misunderstand how they work and buy a Diesel Tuning Box which sits between the ECU and fuel rail. It multiplies the output from the ECU. It causes thick black smoke from unused fuel during the combustion cycle, makes the exhaust valves stick open, blocks the CAT, turbo, EGR, DPF...it also takes *NO* input from sensors and when the ECU compensates in the cold it gets multiplied & causes damage. SMOKE=BROKE. Chav =idiot!!!!
urbex2007 4 months ago
spoiler on a FWD isnt all that bad...obviously you've never been on a track or else you'd know they help with downforce on turns. smaller is better, bigger is just riced.

@iRacingDavid a 3k saxo vtr turbo with 240bhp vs a 1.2 eco tec corsa? There 3/4k...
A turbo gti at about 5k vs a clio 182... Gti will still kick its ass.
You are only hating on the car because its seen as "cheap chav shit"
There a lovely car to drive and cheap to insure and tune. Nothing wrong with them.
SuPrAmAd101 4 months ago
@SuPrAmAd101 the car you're comparing don't have the same age/ mileage/ lifespan etc.. so come back later, and i'm hating the car cause it drives like shit and is unsafe, and they're not cheap to insure, cause they're illegal to insure like a stock car, and when you do a personal quote, they're not so cheap to insure.
iRacingDavid 4 months ago
@iRacingDavid A 12 year old saxo vs a 4 year old corsa? haha
There not crap handling.. they are like a tin can but you get what you pay for.. there a small budget car.
There only unsafe if you cant drive.

They arnt "illegal" Have you heard of declaring engine modifications on the v5?
You can also insure a saxo turbo...
Im guessing your like 18 by your reasons.
SuPrAmAd101 4 months ago
@SuPrAmAd101 guess again then, and you can't do only engine modification for the car to be road legal, which brings the price to the price of much safer and funnier cars.
They handle like crap, if you can't see it, too bad for you, not my problem here.
Once modified, they're not cheap to insure, I've got friends in England, France, US, Germany, Netherlands, and after having asked, its not cheap at all....
So I'm guessing that you're from those who think that power to weight ratio equals speed.
iRacingDavid 4 months ago
@iRacingDavid I dont see your point?
"So I'm guessing that you're from those who think that power to weight ratio equals speed"
Why are f1 cars so fast.... Because they weigh nothing.... Your a retard!!!
my 106gti was costing me £540 a year to insure when standard.
it has ITBs, Ph3 cams, lowered all around, lightweight alloys... Its only costing me £200 more a year than before.
Thats still cheap and iv increased performance by at least 30bhp.
You blatenly have no idea
SuPrAmAd101 4 months ago
@SuPrAmAd101 i'm sorry, i though F1 had high tech materials all over the place, didn't know it was only light.
And we must live in different worlds, to me paying 160% in insurance for a 30hp gain (thats like 20% power gain or close to that) is a useless expense. But hey have fun in your coffin, and try to avoid killing people with you than ks

Carbon fibre body and chassis to keep the weight down... For one reason. SPEED.
Not at all, The price im paying now is the max i would have to pay for this car, even if i did increase performance again, But the reason its costing more is because i also get track day insurance and aftermarket coverage. So alot cheaper than some.

gamexpert95 8 months ago
Hmm, surely a rear spoiler should help. If going fast enough it will push down on the back of the car round bends. Especially since the back ends of small cars are so light, and the short wheelbase causes it to snap out rather than gently slide. Even the slightest bit of downforce must help. Everything else though, is true. I suppose larger wheels would lead to better MPG though, as the same amount of rotations would take you slightly further.

someone that actually knows a little something! i run my own auto shop, and i'll have friends come by all the time to show me their "cold air intake" they just installed, and i'm all, umm hate to burst your bubble brotha, but that's a short ram, and then i explain to them the diff, and they usually get upset

i think everyone one who commented needs to take a little time to calm down...and perhaps get a life....just a suggestion

larger tires dont change the gear ratios.
the gear ratios are determined by the number of teeth on the different gears inside the transmission and differential.
larger tires just mess up the reading on the speedometer and the odometer..
an engine wont lose hp with a larger ehxaust? it will just sound crappy sometimes...
also, hot air doesnt contain less oxygen.. hot air is less dense than cold air meaning it takes more air to produce the same power as it would with colder, denser air.
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 you're right and wrong about the ratio part, your gear ratio is in the diff/trans, depending on fwd or rwd, but it does change your final drive ratio, due to the fact that the rolling diameter of the tires is changed from stock, so it will change your speedo reading, your mileage will be off so you'd be doing oil changes either too soon or not enough. and ir can dramatically change your fuel economy depending on how much of a change over OEM you've made.

@dwnrety1 and larger exhaust can have a negative effect on power. it all depends on the application, you can't take a stock N/A car and slap a 4" exhaust on it, you will kill all your bottom end, most N/A cars like a little backpressure. but again, all depends on app, and engine size.
charlietow 11 months ago
@charlietow i actually thought about the final drive ratio after i posted originally but just ignored it..
also, i wasnt thinking like a 4" exhaust on a stock N/A car, i was thinking more of a turbocharged or supercharged application, in which case it would be a pretty noticeable gain in power.
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 oh yeah forced induction doesn't matter, the more boost you're pumpin the easier you need to make it come out. but on N/A i'm sure you've seen those imports that sound like they're goin 100 and they're not even up to 45 yet, that's cause they lost all backpressure and have killed their tq
charlietow 11 months ago
@charlietow lol sounds like my sisters car.. it makes all the noise in the world but it doesnt go anywhere.. or atleast it doesnt feel like it is..
idk what the 0-60 time was before the change in intake and exhaust on her car or what it is now, but its slow after being in my car..
although, i think the piping diameter might only be a 1/4" over stock, i guess its mostly in the muffler design.. *shrug*
(she has an '08 scion Tc, i have an '87 toyota supra)
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 haha that's funny, bet she likes the fact that a car that's more than 20years older then hers smokes her! you did say it's a scion tc...they ain't known for speed
charlietow 11 months ago
@charlietow yeah, shes not a real speed demon anyway...
although she always yells at her boyfriend for driving like a grandma in his built 03 wrx, and then yells more when he wants to race someone.. lol
but she got the car she wanted(atleast when she got it) she doesnt like it anymore because after the exhaust the check engine light is always on and its constantly in limp mode..
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 did she get rid of the cat? if so she should put it back on, there is no real gain from taking it off, unless you're going all out performance, or forced induction, otherwise it's pointless. or she could get it tuned but that cost a bit, for the software and the tune
charlietow 11 months ago
@charlietow yeah its a full catless exhaust from the head to the bumper, she has 2 spark plug anti-foulers in the rear o2 sensor which is the one thats causing the CEL and thats supposed to shut off the cel and take it out of limp mode.. i guess she's just dealing with it for now untill whenever..
all that crap makes me glad my car is 24 years old.. i take the cats out of that and it just stinks and i dont pass emissions.. lol
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 i highly recommend puttin the cat back it, cause with it in limp mode, she's killing the motor, it's not bad to have a cel for a little while, but in limp mode the car runs super rich, which kills mpg, and she'll be needin to change her plugs more often, if she put an OE cat back on that thing, i bet she'd shit and the difference. like i said, unless she is goin for balls out performance, and she wants to drop some serious coin, there is no need to remove the cat, seen that alot
charlietow 11 months ago
@charlietow yeah i figured the cat would probably have to be put back on, but just kind of left that to them to figure out since she doesnt wanna hack up her exhaust..
on her boyfriends super when he went catless he just wired the rear o2 sensor into the one right behind the turbo and that worked somehow.. but thats a 94 so it probaly wouldnt work anyhow.
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 yeah don't do that on an obd2, you can damage the ecm, it either needs a piggy back FC and tune or just put the cat back in it, it's not really hackin anything up either, cut out a section for the cat, weld in the cat, clear the light and roll, i'm tellin you, she'd be happy with that...trust me on this
charlietow 11 months ago
@charlietow hm. might have to fire up the sawz-all and the welder.. lol
dwnrety1 11 months ago
@dwnrety1 that's what i'm talking bout!

did you consider the possibility they are just for show, meaning no go??
farkdat1 1 year ago
@farkdat1 If you put this expensive stuff on your car and acualy there for make it slower your quite sad... What will you do? Open the engine room and show your mates your fancy airfilter.. Then one asks what it does and you have to answer: It reduces the BHP.. And it also kills my engine a bit quicker because the air is not filtered as good as normal... Wooowww... Coooool !!!
dipstick3031 1 year ago

TheOutlawmaniac 1 year ago
@TheOutlawmaniac downforce is created at a lot lower speeds then 120mph brotha. quick example, when going 70 down the freeway stick your hand out the window and angle so the wind pushes down on your hand, that's downforce, now imagine that on something with a much greater surface area then your hand. that downforce is working, believe it or not. not saying everyone should go out and slap a wing on their wip, but i'm sayin that you're incorrect my friend, a wing does work under 100mph
charlietow 11 months ago
its about style not speed cuz ya want people to see ya car not fuckin thrashing it around and getting it wraped around a fukin post at the end of the day who gives a fuck about 1bhp out of the car wow put a fukin v8 in it then durrrr
