Beautiful dog! I love how he still enjoys digging with his K-9 friend. My mother just rescued a Harlequin/Blue Great Dane. And my small chihuahua just had her leg amputated. Not from cancer or anything. The dogs mother bit her leg and bit the blood vessels. The leg was not getting any blood flow to it.
I have a 90lb mix breed named MOOSE, he has cancer in his front left leg, going tomorrow to get it amputated, im scared for him because of his weight, and he is 8 years old, but the vet said he should do just fine! At 8- is is so full of life, acts like he is 4, haha. I am also looking to get a GD pup, one colored like yours, beautiful dog! I think my MOOSE will enjoy helping me train a new pup.
@Nipnim28 Thanks for you comment on Moose's video.
Best of luck with the amputation, it typically goes fine and they recover quickly. If you have not yet checked it out, go to tripawds.com, they have a blog page and other resources where you can get help and advice from others who are dealing with the same problem. Feel free to email me with any questions (ashowboat@aol.com). We have another GD that is due to have a puppy in a week, we are really excited. Keep me posted on Moose's progress
i hope he catches a gopher at least once in his life!! - very cute dog - mine died back in may - our choices were amputation or have him put down - i was at school so i didnt make the choice - but atfer seeing this i wish i was there to make the choice. :'(
Yeah Moose! I have Rikki a 3 legged dog (left front is missing) she was an injured rescue couldn't save the leg -- radial nerve was severed -- that was in 1994 when she was about 6-8monthsold yes she's almost 15 years old now three legged dogs rule!!!
Moose is awesome!!! My great pyrenees, Malcolm, had one amputated due to osteosarcoma. Just like Moose, it was as if he was born that way. Thank you for the post.
I have a 165 lbs Alaskan Malamute called Moose he's 3 years old today, he has got crondosarcoma in his rear leg, he is going to have it amputated here in a few days, good to see they're in good chher

Thanks for posting this, I was worried that my recently amputee dog wouldn't be able to dig anymore.
