  • i am one of those people that can never learn how to play so i quit playin from today

  • I must not have the right picks cuz i get hung up when trying to pick fast

  • "Start nice and slow, try to control your movement as best as possible"

  • I know how to hold my prick properly. 0:12

  • "Working on your right hand speed picking 0:09", masturbate.

  • "..So the less motion, the closer to your body, the better"

  • the last bend is fucked

  • this is way to much info for such a simple technique. if your a beginner just pick a string the way u want to pick it, everyone picks differently, so just keep at it, and your dedication will show your skill and your signature playing style, just play and dont think about it too much, thinking can throw u off sometimes.

  • @DarkAngelsDelight fucking true

  • I read the title as "Sweep Picking" 4 minutes into the video I realized it was "Speed Picking"

  • never knew triplet notes are so awesome

  • Thumbs up if you learned how to masturbate @ 0:07

  • 0:53 Eddie Van Halen Did!!!!

  • A video longer than a minute on Expert Village? What type of sorcery is this?

  • Comment removed

  • girls and guitars need the same treatment...

  • wow this guy sucks soo bad, that i like watching his videos lol...

  • when i went my top speed, it felt like my arm was going to cum

  • what is it called when you slide your right hand up the strings near the neck pick up and fret stuff near the nut and it makes a clinking sound. Gus G does it, Eddie Van Halen does it, and countless other metal/rock guitarists. Seriously, i can't figure out what it's called or exactly how to do it.

  • Keep rewinding 0:08 D=

  • Is it just me or does it look like he's wanking off an invisible man ?

  • How to hold your pick properly.... There's a proper way to do it? I was under the impression that John Pettrucci and Yngwie Malmsteen both anchored when playing. I know there's a few others as well. So, is this guy saying they're wrong?

  • Ray ramano can alternate pick?

  • @dannyjerome0 I practice about 6 solid hours or maybe even more,daily.

If you want to pick fast for long amounts of time, you need to train yourself to only use your wrist. no arm movement. I found the best way to pace yourself and increase your speed and accuracy is to keep your pinky anchored to the guitar. if your pinky stays in place, your using yer wrist.

  • i know im gunna feel like a dumbass for wondering, but y is it that sumtimes when i change strings, the string i just playd, randomly like, strums itself and that string is ringing while im on the string under it, how can i just play it clean?

  • @whydoyoueventry Thats because you need more practice. When you go to the next string, you may accidentaly end up re-picking the string just moved away from, thus, you have that annoying ringing sound. So what you can do is practice picking just like in this video, and then try to switch to the next string, each time, gaining speed as you do so. It is called shredding when you do this as you go up a scale.

  • @Psychoreu k ill practice more, sorry it was bugging the shit out of me that it was doing it and i needed help, thx

  • @whydoyoueventry You just need to practice to get a cleaner sound :)

  • @Geraa24 im getting better, thx :)

  • Speed isn't my problem. My problem is getting both hands moving at the same speed.

  • exercise the g-string

  • hey gary after nearly 40 years of playing i'm still clueless! haha

  • Man pick gets stuck, gay shit. Meh.

  • it's funny how he did the handjob at 0:07 lol

  • WELL, IF YOU'RE RIPPING OFF SOMEONE WHO'S NOT EVEN (ACCORDING TO YOU) INNOVATIVE, WHAT DOES THAT MAKE OF YOU, LOSER?

  • YET ANOTHER LOSER RIPPING OFF EXERCISES FROM JOHN PETRUCCI'S ROCK DISCIPLINE.. CAN'T EVEN PLAY IN TEMPO, YOU'RE RIDICULOUS, SUCKER!!

  • @scrapethebottom you're an idiot, sucker

  • @Andathil117 SUCKER? I DON'T POST RIDICULOUS VIDEOS STEALING STUFF FORM OTHERS, ME... AND CAN'T REALLY SEE HOW SOMEONE CAN IMPROVE BY WATCHING THESE HALF-ARSED S**T

    CHEERS, C**T

  • @scrapethebottom Because John Petrucci was the first to practice alternate picking with a metronome. How innovative!

  • retard

  • ya, that was helpful,, thx,, this guy knows his shttt...thx dude\,,/

idk about the other proffessional,,, they kinda lame.

  • Why would anyone looking for heavy metal lessons want to watch an ad for ultimate techno?

  • @bracemachine09 wow, no one has ever responded like that to me before in an argument. kudos to you

  • @bracemachine09 well you don't understand my point either, Hendrix didn't know a lot of theory and made it big so stop being an aristocratic guitar asshole

  • really helpful for me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bracemachine09 no I'm pretty sure his bandmates keyed into whatever he played, not the other way around

  • what kind of strat is that??? the only strats ive seen with 2 humbuckers are the Black Tops, and that is certainly not a blacktop

  • This reminds me of jacking of...only with a guitar

  • Ur teaching Metal with a fender... Ur so cool man ....:P ...

  • @malfunctioner1 HAHAHAHAA true

  • Very clear and helpful lesson. Good teacher.

  • Consistency, evenness, and control. Just like when you're wanking.

  • Another shitty video from shitty village.

  • marcussilvamgs : Man, all i speed picking comes from abusive masturbation. hey man do u have experience? XD!

  • @Sahid1707 XD

  • why does it take 5 minutes to say you shouldn't move your hand too much?

  • This is the longest video that I've seen posted by expertvillage so far! xD

  • Consistency, evenness, and control. Just like when you're doin' your girlfriend.

  • @robert1268 you forgot the "and then slow down" part.

  • @robert1268 Forget the control

  • speed dicking nice and slow, dont forget boys nice and slow

  • speed dicking

  • thats fast?

  • freeguitarvidz(dot)tk - change the (dot) to a real period. Enjoyed the lessons there guys just haring it to you coz this fucking video sucks.

  • i would not reccomend resting your wrist on the bridge if your guitar has a floyd rose...

  • hey my wrist hurts when i play fast

  • Horrible guitar sound

  • Expertvillage really sux. This the ultimate proof. Making a lesson for speed picking...

  • @KeybladeKorney

why does that make them sucky?

  • I got my right hand fast enough, but I need techniques for my left hand and how to speed pick in between notes. Any help or scales I could learn?

  • Hi my name is Gary Shit.

  • teaching metal music with a fender doesn't quite work...

  • @shizokiller

it has humbuckers in both the bridge and neck position so i don't really see what the problem is lol....

  • "Down up, down up, quater notes." *instantly plays off beat*

    Fail

  • nubdistortion(overdrive)

  • Dude sucks at keeping time with the metronome.

  • Lol

  • Great lesson, but that noise is so tedious!!!

  • wow i didn't know metal guitars existed D: i know theres a genre of metal for palying on the guitar hmm fuck it i hate this shit...

  • Important is, to pick wrist, not the entire hand. I think so.

I play guitar almost 1 year, and I have a problem with it

  • This is actually the most useful tremolo picking video i found on this site.

  • Comment removed

  • @XxSGxMAYNExX heard of iron maiden, strat is everything

  • @XxSGxMAYNExX Iron Maiden???Yngwie Malmsteen??? u gotta be kidding me =.=.

  • I'm pretty sure everyone in my house would murder me if I practiced this exercise

  • he knows what he's talking about. i can only get like 3 notes per beat at 136 bpm =(

hoping to ble able to tremelo soon

  • @irishdragon735 dont worry just keep praticing it would be worth learning it.

  • 0:07 thats how I practice speed picking

  • he's using a strat for heavy metal??

  • @MrBenIPresume yeah he is but hey at least it has humbuckers, right?

  • the amount of innuendos is staggering, starting from 0:09.

  • I got the same guitar !

  • lol 0:07 - 0:10

  • His neighbours are probably like, SHUT THE FUCK UP lol

  • Guitar players are the most jealous, lying , obscure, ego- maniacs out of any musicians.

  • @TooMuchGass I'm guessing your the bass player that sits in their shadows huh?

  • This Ben Stiller guy sure can play guitar.

  • lol thats my exact guitar

  • on thing you can do to work out the hand speed for ur hand is jerking of, and since men jerk of all the time, we dont need to practice that, and since we dont need to practice that, that information is useless. to dudes. so thats why girls dont play gitar.

  • I just realized I picked a video made by Expert Village.....I'm leaving....talk to you guys later....

  • @FlankinspanK

    win

  • My guitar teacher said that picking on one string is useless when you are going to solo. It's better to do it when you practice scales. 4 times per note through the whole scale and you will get better

  • @PunkGuitar4Life Sorry if this a little late, but ask your teacher to show you the A Minor pentatonic scale.

  • omg... handjob tutorial? wrong click..

  • Its a good way to burn energy though.

  • 0:09 HAHAHHAHAHAHAH

  • 0:09 - 0:10. :/

  • i found this video helpful. I play acoustic and i can see this helping me. I know expert village fails at alot of things as i have taught my self alot of things from expert village, but this video has some use. Expert village overall blows, but this guy is a great teacher. I dont think he needs to stretch out picking a single note, i would like that he play more than just one. So it has its shitty aspect of it in this vid clearly.

  • what a garbage video.

  • Expert Village sucks. How come every video, on every topic, is so shit?

  • Man, all i speed picking comes from abusive masturbation.

  • @marcussilvamgs thats why you should never pick up and play someone else's guitar....

  • @marcussilvamgs It's true.

Speed picking comes natural to me.

    xD

  • lmfao HANDJOB

  • why do you all talk about reading notes? it´s just about knowing the notes on your guitar, and that´s pretty simple

  • @heinzschmidt25

It is. you can learn to read notes in a 30 minutes.

  • tukang gitare kurang jos

  • @anjarsukamainps seriously

  • maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan someone forgot to switch what pickup is on lol

  • @octaviocgsa Why? coz we're not all perfectionists like you.

  • @octaviocgsa

i think its more like talking without knowing how to read or write.

and this guy's not bad at explaining what he's doing nor is his advice bad but he's not a very impressive guitarist

  • @octaviocgsa Don't look at me. I'm neutral :S

  • @octaviocgsa i know the names of the strings, i can play many songs (well) and i cant read sheet music so fuck you

  • @austin7956 i said know the notes youre playing, not read music. so fuck you again.

  • @octaviocgsa Yep he can teach but fuck you and your ludicrous statement. I CAN read notes and I CAN play music. But still.....fuck you and your ludicrous statement. You are ignorant. People can play music without knowing the technicalities. What did people have before there was notation????....nothing...which is exactly what your statement means to countless amounts of people who know how to express themselves through their instrument.

  • @FlankinspanK I said know the notes, not read music. Come on, at least know the damn notes youre playing, thats basic. Before notation? youre saying before the greeks then, there was nothing but rustic music in rustic instruments. I assure you.

  • @octaviocgsa jimi hendrix didn't know the notes. srsly

  • @octaviocgsa James Hetfield don't know the notes

  • @loverock4ever1997 James Hetfield sucks.

  • @octaviocgsa you suck

  • @octaviocgsa Slash didn't know notes.

  • @loverock4ever1997 James Hetfield does not know the notes?? then why is Welcome Home in E minor did he just hit all the right notes out of pure luck? why is enter sandman based on a Natural Minor scale?? why is the unforgiven based on Natural E Minor???

  • @MetalInstrumentals i do believe there was a documentary where James himself said he didn't know notes or knew very little of it.

  • @MetalInstrumentals You don't need to know notes in order to know if they feel right.

  • @Mackster44 your just lazy and don't want to learn theory

  • @MetalInstrumentals Any problem with that..? If you enjoy music, and you can make other people enjoy it as well, you shouldn't be (or at least I think so) concerned about music theory. Yea, it does make composition easier, but it's not necessary.

  • @Mackster44 yes all the things you said are true, sound came before theory but you need to know theory in order to play with someone else and know what you are doing its not 100% necesary but it makes everything easy and i mean everything

  • @MetalInstrumentals I completely agree with you. I do recognize that theory does help out in everything; I'm just saying that it's not a necessity to be a good musician or for composing songs.

  • @octaviocgsa you don't need to know the notes cause even if you don't know the name it doesn't mean you don't know how it sound. But I agree it's better

Parce que la musique avant d'etre un truk griffonner sur un bout de papier c'est avant tout du son et du ressenti abruti

  • @octaviocgsa so true

  • @octaviocgsa I see...like, for instance Jimi Hendrix you mean?

  • @daguitarslayer yeah, ok, you´re talented as Jimi. Ok, keep dreaming, when someone ask you to play a D, tell that to them without looking like a fool.

  • @octaviocgsa youz just a pathetic troll. and who told you I didn't know how to read notes and I don't know where everythings @?? I never said I was as good as Jimi. just do everyone a favor and just die already.

  • @octaviocgsa so that's the reason why you don't have a guitar in your hands?

  • @octaviocgsa actually it's more like talking without knowing the alphabet.

    oh wait...

  • @MrFunnyDwarf not really.

  • @octaviocgsa no u

  • @octaviocgsa tell that to paul mccartney

  • @octaviocgsa you are the one wo dont deserves a guitar

  • @octaviocgsa meh whatever i always thought reading sucked anyway

  • @octaviocgsa You don't always have to know about how the notes work,.

  • @octaviocgsa ever heard of Jimi Hendrix? yeah, he's considered one of the best guitarists ever.

he didn't know notes on the guitar.

  • @ChanielDang ok i agree about jimi hendrix but tell me how many others without knowing any notes became just like him.....face the truth....ok you can play without knowing any notes but you cant be compared to the other ones who know.....they ll be 50 times better and i dont mean about speed i mean about the comprehension of the instrument and the right use of it... this is my opinion...

  • @71kamikazi71 well I don't know many of the notes on the fretboard and yet I consider myself to be a good guitarist. playing guitar is mainly about talent, feel, emotion, and scales.

  • @ChanielDang maybe he didnt know the notes

but if you know the scales its not that much important to know notes for improvisation

i dont think what hendrix was such stupid like you mention

with good ear you just remember from memory what "fret on guitar" to start playing

but its better to know what is that key note

  • @ChanielDang from what i heard jimi was full aware of theory and had studied thoery

  • @ChanielDang He just had perfect pitch

  • @ChanielDang well for his time he was amazing, but if he played today it would just be another blues guitarist...and most blues players dont know theory, its all about feel

  • @skwizzgar yeah. it is. and it may be a good thing

  • @ChanielDang they are not nesesary if u feel it

  • @ChanielDang explain in any way whatso ever that jimi hendrix didnt know any notes on the guitar

  • @DemonosZXZ I'm sure he knew some, like the open ones and shit like that but he didn't waste time trying to learn them everywhere on the fretboard

  • @ChanielDang dude notes are learned better by ear then on paper, what we put on paper is just our intellectualized version of the notes or logical mathematical representation of them so basically you could also say he knew the notes better even, and how could you say he didnt know notes if he was playing them your argument is extremely flawed but popular and cliche so i guess you can get away with saying it and pretend you know what your talking about.

  • @DemonosZXZ yeah, and you're cliche by trying to think differently, just like everyone else, ironically. I put forth no hostile words towards you and yet here you are trolling like an idiot. shouldn't you be doing something constructive?

  • @ChanielDang because honestly you can train your ear to know the notes and its the same thing even better notes aren't letters dude irl they are in your ear so he knew notes even better by that standard and if you have ever been in a band you need to know notes.

  • @ChanielDang do you know anything about blues?

  • @kisay69 yes... what about it?

  • @octaviocgsa Whoa whoa whoa! That's going a bit far don't you think? I've played guitar for a pretty long time and I have barely any understanding of the notes, can't read notation, and I only know about 5-7 chords, but I'm still a fairly good guitarist. You don't really NEED to know all of that, but it makes it a million times easier.

  • @octaviocgsa fuck youself

  • @octaviocgsa i dont legitimately play guitar, but ive figured out so many random parts to songs i like because i have a good ear. i would like to learn real guitar, but i dont have a teacher or initiative to teach myself.
