  • amazing

  • best guitar tone

  • Look at 1:37, Bassist do a mistake, and Malmsteen look at him instantly.. D:

    hahaha

  • thats my neighbor

  • very beutiful video! Malmsteen is the best guitarist in the world

  • 2:55

  • 2;55

  • la verga

  • best guitar sound

  • is this performance on dvd?

  • Indeed, its from Live in Tokyo '85

  • the only person who can play far beyond the sun right is yngwie malmsteen

SO many deadbeat imposters on youtube... it doesnt sound the same or feel the same...

  • not guerra, not frank, yngwie is the only one.

  • exactly, fuck all those imposters.

  • i remember when i first heard yngwie on metalshop....went and saw him as soon as alcatrazz made it to baltimore....he was so pure in his playing back then...i miss the old yngwie....thanks for this post

  • god yngwie....what did the 90s do to you?? ;(

  • best damn verion hes played this song ever.

  • 4:26-5:09, insane...

  • 00:00 - 5:54 - INSANE-R.

  • scalopping a guitar is where it has dips between the frets....its for pros makes a better sound if u have light fingers that literatly glide across the strings...if u press down to hard it makes an horrible twang .....if i mispelled anything i dont give a fuck its youtube for godsake

  • si sono terzine!!! (yes the drummer do triplets!!!)

  • is the drummer doing triplets or is it just a normal beat?

  • He is doing triplets on the bass drum

  • does anyone know what scalloping a guitar is ?

  • its when you cut some of the wood off on the frets so that theyre indented a tiny bit. some guitarists say it helps them play

  • helps with bends alot

  • He butchers this song these days! The original is focused and melodic. Now days he strays so far from the original melody that he should rename it "far beyond Far Beyond The Sun".

  • Lol, yeah I have to agree, it's also the same with black star.

  • I think that's the <5 sentence comparison of him then and now that I've read.

  • Yngwie had more style back then. He sounds sloppier and unfocused these days.

  • it is because his ego got to him

  • far beyond the sun yngwie has his own mcdonald's.

great song btw, this version is the best.

  • viva malmsteen

  • 普通に考えてウマイ

  • the best far beyond the sun version ever played in his entire life

  • Too true!

  • I wouldn't really insult any guitar player from the 80's. Accept for Sammy Hagar, but any ways, Yngwie Malmsteen has a special talent and can put any guitar player to shame. But he can't do something's Eddie Van halen can do and Vic Versa. That goes with any guitar player. So in a way, there all alike. But only in a way. Any person posing as a 80's guitarist from this time should watch Yngwie Malmsteen and be put to shame. But in my opinion, NoBody Is Better Than Him.

  • this performance of this song is the better of the better .. yngwie ROCKS !

  • my very favorite live version of this song

  • okay, i am convinced by this video to get my lazy ass up and go buy his guitar and learn this song. =)

  • Lord have mercy! this is one of the best far beyond performances...my favorite one was a live version in ohio in 86', but i can't find that video anymore, it was over the top, early Yngwie over the top!!!

  • That cocksucker buckethead idiot should watch these and learn smth called "phrasing" and "art" instead of those shitty tricks he does with the guitar. This is real music and real guitar playing.

  • buckethead sucks.

  • Yes, every word u just wrote is the Truth!

  • oh man..such amazin playin...i wish i cud do dat one day ..lol ... he is alsolutely flawless ..!! neo - classical is da best ..!!!

  • i love Yngwie too...

if you're really interested in neo classical check out early Stravinsky, Bela Bartok, Leonard Bernstein, Prokofiev, Shastakovich...i mean there's more to neo classical than yngwie's style of rock metal...

  • yes and also check out "sdahfalkh sdaghardjs"

    Oh also "generic foreign jibberish"

  • you're an idiot

  • Bela Bartok did much of the music in The Shining! And that was some bad ass composing!

  • That was when Yngwie was in his prime.

  • He is Jens Johannson,he is the brother of Yngwie's drummer Anders

  • holy fucking jumping shit balls!!

that keyboard player! who is he? where can I find more of his stuff?

He literally made my jaw drop to the floor.

Completely amazing, out of 5 stars, I'd give 12.

  • YNGWIE IS GOD

  • Yngwie is good at what he does being a speed demon/fretw@nker however being a good musician isn't just about playing fast and clean either. Other than the wow factor of his super fast playing and you have heard him play for an hour or two, could anyone actually say they could actually sit down and just listen to this over and over and seriously think that this is a really great piece of music? - especially if is a non guitarist....

  • yes, yes they could. guitarist or not. everyone just has their own taste.

  • yes it is good music, he is an excellent composer as he is a guitarist.

  • well i guess some of 'em would die in cause of sensory overload ^^

... its really just about taste ^^ ... i guess most of non guitarists could not listen to hendrix-stuff for 2 hours... ^^

  • none the less, one should show respect for excellent skill.

  • they never said his skill sucked. just his music. people are entitled to that opinion

  • His music is an aquired taste. He never did a lot of radio-friendly songs. I love his music, but I find you need to get caught up in it to enjoy it.

  • I do enjoy a good number of his compositions thought I think sometimes he subsitutes speed for good melody. Im not saying that good melody needs to be slow or something, but in my opinion his musical ideas get stale after a while. Maybe if he would try and branch out of his harmonic minor tonality and experiment with other modes and feels.

  • Whatever it be, Yngwie either discovered the scalloped frets or he was the first artist to put it on his gear and it made him the best on. So I think everybody should respect that and see on 3:40 to 3:51 there is a mistake but it sounded well i liked how it sounded.

  • John Mcglaughlin used scalloped frets in the seventies

  • lutes had scalloped frets hundreds of years before...

  • Yngwie is GOD of guitarists. Sure there are others: Slash, Dimebag, Hendrix, but they are Masters of the guitar. Yngwie is GOD. End of story. Any time you can play Flight of the Bumblebee on your guitar, make Somewhere Over the Rainbow NOT sound gay, AND make the Legend of Zelda soundtrack sound SUPERO badass, you are a goddamn god. I only wish Yngwie would've toured the U.S. more.

  • Lol, ironic, because none of those recordings are of him. I bet you got them from LimeWire too.

Just listen to it man, it's kinda obvious.

  • For every body who did some bad comments. Do a thousand of person show your compositions in cover on utube? hahaha!!! Your were all ass kicked. Damn you.

  • is the best guitarrist in the world is certainly...............

  • i agree with some that yngwie doesnt focus quite as much on the feel of his music as other guitarists such as "old school" zakk wylde or stevie ray but his mind blowing technical ability matched with his inhuman speed and precision do make hime an amazing guitarist and i just really cant talk shit about him, other than the fact that hes a pompous ass

  • kakobird. do you play or ever played scalloped frets before?I do and it is harder to play fast on it. yeah dimebag was a great guitar playar. alot of people dont like Yngwie, we all have our meenings of what sound good and what don`t. i see alot of comments allways has something bad like his lack of feel. i think Yngwie do have alot of feel. i hear everything Yngwie does put into those notes. And to you people how dont see it buti sould maybe listen a little closer.

  • You are either

    a) a troll

    or

    b) an imbecile

If scalloped frets made everything easier, everyone would be playing with scalloped frets. Scalloped frets provide you with better grip on the strings for vibrato and bends, but it makes it harder to play in tune and harder to play fast accurately.

  • You don't know what the hell you're talking about......it makes vibrato's sound better....

  • not one single error. Yngwie is without doubt the world best guitarist. just look at it. who can deny that the performance aint flawless? for a teenager to go on stage and rip the guitar like that is a wonderkid not form this earth.

  • You are retardedly wrong dickhead. Scalloped necks do NOT make your fingers move faster. And obviously they do fuck all for your right hand. And the right hand is far harder.

  • Best solo performance ever done in history of mankind!

  • consider jason becker :)

  • dam, he was one skinny motherfucker

  • is that play loud "Ducky"???? wow she had clean neck =O now she's busted like shit!!!

  • This version is the best of all. He had innocence yet in this concert! He didn't know the great rock star he would be in some years since. I think this version is unique!!

  • it sounds like he didnt use so much gain back then..

  • Jens Johannsen is just as good as Yngwie.

  • best live version out there

  • Wow! Yngwie was a FAR better guitar player back then. He's more creative here than later stuff.

  • this performance is classic

  • yeah i think he played sloppy on this one...he might b a lil tired but he still finished the song soo his still good

  • on 1:29 he looks like villie valo

  • Malmsteen was a lot more articulate back then... very good performance. And yes, his fingers weren't hot dogs.

  • a but now hes got the sausage nubs :(

  • he is playing quite sloppy on this.. I've seen him live and he played this song 20 times better than his performance here.. it was 3 years later than this when I saw him so I am sure his chops were improved..

  • He looks so different. Look at his fingers! They aren't hot dogs!

  • its his old vids whut u expect

  • buen video, uno de los mejores de malm

  • I'm learning Neo-Classical stuff with my teacher. It's very tough, need to know a crap-load of scales, and that guitar looked huge on him back then.

  • no you dont

you just need to know major minor and harmonic minor and diminished and augmented in every key

  • This is my new account, my old one was the person you replied to. Anyways, the description I gave was very brief. By the way, you need more than the description you gave.

  • how would you know?

  • Oh, I don't know, I play guitar. I know a good bit of guitar theory.

  • guitar theory? lol

    guitar theory....wow

  • i want to learn to play like that i love neoclassical shredding.

  • was this video made before or after that accident he was in?

  • Before. This is from 1985, and the accident occurred in 1987.

  • Yngwie is soooo amazing! A classic! His best song. This song is just perfectly played here. He is truly the best guitarist of all time. (IMO).

  • hahha he thinks he can play guitar... i can do that... j/k before everyone starts trying to eat my family. The keyboardist was a bit of a nut too! i wish my mum would let me stay home from school to play guitar like his did.... lucky bum

  • Did you thought about the POSSIBILITY that Malmsteen wasn´t the one who mixed the sound of this video? ahsiudhiuashda

Man some people just want and like to be anoying...man YOU can´t even make and decent argue to say that you don´t like something...my GOD!

  • he added some nice crowd sounds there.. hitler did the same thing

  • Yeah, and I bet he's got concentration camps filled with punk guitarists who dare oppose the mighty Arpeggio...

  • ROFL! Oh man, that was the funniest comment I've ever seen. HAIL VICTORY! *throws the horns forward like a salute*

  • 21 years old when he wrote it/released it. Had been playing for 14 years though..

  • far beyond the sun..the best song I have heard...I recomend to hear the version of this song in the G3 in denver ..AMAZING...INCREDIBLE

  • yeah. that is a good version. agreed

  • the sickest thing of all is he was only 20 or 21 when he wrote this.

  • i wonder if mustakostaja or whatever the fuk even knew it was by yngwie if not listen to him he is fukin great, if there is a god it is YNGWIE JOHANN MALMSTEEN!

  • thats because its his song.... doi lol :S

  • I've heard some really crappy versions of this song, but this one is actualli kinda cool. Shred!

  • malmsteen... wow

  • Silent V: YEAH BABY MALMSTEEN ROCKS

    Crazy A: I like bananas
