He butchers this song these days! The original is focused and melodic. Now days he strays so far from the original melody that he should rename it "far beyond Far Beyond The Sun".
I wouldn't really insult any guitar player from the 80's. Accept for Sammy Hagar, but any ways, Yngwie Malmsteen has a special talent and can put any guitar player to shame. But he can't do something's Eddie Van halen can do and Vic Versa. That goes with any guitar player. So in a way, there all alike. But only in a way. Any person posing as a 80's guitarist from this time should watch Yngwie Malmsteen and be put to shame. But in my opinion, NoBody Is Better Than Him.
Lord have mercy! this is one of the best far beyond performances...my favorite one was a live version in ohio in 86', but i can't find that video anymore, it was over the top, early Yngwie over the top!!!
That cocksucker buckethead idiot should watch these and learn smth called "phrasing" and "art" instead of those shitty tricks he does with the guitar. This is real music and real guitar playing.
if you're really interested in neo classical check out early Stravinsky, Bela Bartok, Leonard Bernstein, Prokofiev, Shastakovich...i mean there's more to neo classical than yngwie's style of rock metal...
Yngwie is good at what he does being a speed demon/fretw@nker however being a good musician isn't just about playing fast and clean either. Other than the wow factor of his super fast playing and you have heard him play for an hour or two, could anyone actually say they could actually sit down and just listen to this over and over and seriously think that this is a really great piece of music? - especially if is a non guitarist....
I do enjoy a good number of his compositions thought I think sometimes he subsitutes speed for good melody. Im not saying that good melody needs to be slow or something, but in my opinion his musical ideas get stale after a while. Maybe if he would try and branch out of his harmonic minor tonality and experiment with other modes and feels.

Perfect! Gamerguitarist got it dead on!
Im not a real big Yngwie fan. He has amazing technique and tone but his stuff gets sooo repetative. If he studied melodies, mixing modes and the like for one tenth of the time he spent developing his amazing speed and technique then in my opinion he would be twice the guitarist.
Whatever it be, Yngwie either discovered the scalloped frets or he was the first artist to put it on his gear and it made him the best on. So I think everybody should respect that and see on 3:40 to 3:51 there is a mistake but it sounded well i liked how it sounded.
Yngwie is GOD of guitarists. Sure there are others: Slash, Dimebag, Hendrix, but they are Masters of the guitar. Yngwie is GOD. End of story. Any time you can play Flight of the Bumblebee on your guitar, make Somewhere Over the Rainbow NOT sound gay, AND make the Legend of Zelda soundtrack sound SUPERO badass, you are a goddamn god. I only wish Yngwie would've toured the U.S. more.
For every body who did some bad comments. Do a thousand of person show your compositions in cover on utube? hahaha!!! Your were all ass kicked. Damn you.
i agree with some that yngwie doesnt focus quite as much on the feel of his music as other guitarists such as "old school" zakk wylde or stevie ray but his mind blowing technical ability matched with his inhuman speed and precision do make hime an amazing guitarist and i just really cant talk shit about him, other than the fact that hes a pompous ass
kakobird. do you play or ever played scalloped frets before?I do and it is harder to play fast on it. yeah dimebag was a great guitar playar. alot of people dont like Yngwie, we all have our meenings of what sound good and what don`t. i see alot of comments allways has something bad like his lack of feel. i think Yngwie do have alot of feel. i hear everything Yngwie does put into those notes. And to you people how dont see it buti sould maybe listen a little closer.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you dont even need to press down with scalloped frets, just resting your hands on the strings and your on like 5 notes. thats what makes his speed so amazing, it makes it way easier for him to shred.
If scalloped frets made everything easier, everyone would be playing with scalloped frets. Scalloped frets provide you with better grip on the strings for vibrato and bends, but it makes it harder to play in tune and harder to play fast accurately.
not one single error. Yngwie is without doubt the world best guitarist. just look at it. who can deny that the performance aint flawless? for a teenager to go on stage and rip the guitar like that is a wonderkid not form this earth.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
no way dood. its only because of the scalloped frets, if he used regular ones, his performance would plummett. there are many other guitarists out there better. compare dimebag when he was a teen to yngwie in his teen years
You are retardedly wrong dickhead. Scalloped necks do NOT make your fingers move faster. And obviously they do fuck all for your right hand. And the right hand is far harder.
This version is the best of all. He had innocence yet in this concert! He didn't know the great rock star he would be in some years since. I think this version is unique!!
he is playing quite sloppy on this.. I've seen him live and he played this song 20 times better than his performance here.. it was 3 years later than this when I saw him so I am sure his chops were improved..
